Personally I think this mount looks good with the garmin 1030, however I would love a shorter mount for the mid sized head units so they don't look so far out Infront.
Hi there Mr. Lama ;) Love your content, that helped me do informed buying descisions (Smarttrainer, PMs: 2 Xcadey that i synced thanks to your instruction, and now a quarq due to the 12x sram; and my Hammerhead Karoo2
Thanks for the SuperThanks! I'm not sure on the SRAM/107 query. I'm sure someone over on the SRAM AXS FB group will have an answer. Even SRAM tech staff are known to hang out in there. facebook.com/groups/SRAMAXSOwners/ Hummel/etc is all over. Such a crappy experience for what should have been one email or phone call.
I honestly like the idea of well made products that will last a lifetime. I've had a few broken plastic mounts and I wish we'd stop making throwaway plastic items. That said, the lack of angle adjustment means it doesn't have the kind of future proof design to ensure it will be useful in a few years, or if you have a stem whose bolts aren't completely level.
Love Silca products... Not entirely worth the full buck however they have never failed me. So maybe they are. I ended up getting 2 mounts from Raceware direct which are fairly similar and only got 2 because of that aero factor. One Garmin / GoPro combo and One Wahoo Roam Aero / GoPro Combo. Absolutely love em. No way near as well finished but also not a bank buster.
Great honest & thorough review as always. I don't know what to think of old Josh at Silca although I appreciate his bike nerdiness and decent quality chain lube. Their ti bottle cages are another premium priced item that of course don't come with mounting hardware (WTF?). I own the equally overpriced Pista Plus floor pump and while it's a nice bit of kit, does it really inflate my tires that much better than my old cheap Nashbar pump? Glad you didn't have to spend your personal income on this mount.
Thanks for remembering me about the Penis-Shaped Silca Mount from last year :D This one looks nice, but yeah, too expensive. I already thought my K-Edge was on the pricey side, but this one is on another level.
I got the F3 Cycling Form mount, because the standard out-front doesn't fit my Aerofly; I think it looks better than this, and is a more versatile solution also (plus half the price).
Bummer about the bolt v1 not fitting. I just got a new giant revolt and that weird shape handle bar doesn’t let the wahoo mount or the light mount sit quite right.
I clocked out the moment you mentioned the price. It's just a mount, for Pete's sake. That said, I did watch till the end, the compatibility and ease of installation are impressive. GoPro mount location is a plus as far as my own preferences are concerned. I would consider it for half the price.
Cheers. I respect everything I get my hands on isn't going to be for everyone. I hope these videos give people an insight into what's out there and a little more info than we usually see in standard print/web media.
OMG, I saved 2 grams over my previous stock mount. Now I don't have to go on a diet to lose weight and I'll do so much better in the wind tunnel. What a blessing! God bless titanium. A definite First World purchase. They'll be flying off the shelf.
1/3 of the price and you can get the HideMyBell from CloseTheGap…. Hidden bell, multi cycle mount for a whole range of cycling computers + the GoPro, Light mount 🤷🏽♂️
I am interested in this mount as I have had a series of failures with handlebar-mount types and cheap stem-bolt mounts. The only problem-free mount I have had so far is Bontrager's blender mounts. But I also have a Giant bike and can't buy Bontrager stem for it (OD2), so I have no other choice. What puts me off, however, is the way Chisela looks where it meets its host stem. I should expect a much better fitment for the price. As Shane said, a standard version (9-30mm) should be a better fit for a Giant bike; my Giant stem is exactly 30mm C to C (same as Shane's stem), and the wide version looks just too wide. Silca nevertheless recommends the wide version just in case, but I don't want to end up looking like Shane's bike in this video after having burnt $125. lol But I gotta thank Shane for this excellent review that helped me getting a better idea on how this mount works and looks like.
I went with a Zipp Quickview computer mount on my Old Cervelo after the K-edge combo mount disintegrated mid ride. It's been pretty good, I'm pretty sure zipp makes stems for Overdrive 2 as well. Just something to consider.
Me too. I’ll need to get a hold of some. Their other AirTag mount is bloody horrible. It’s a Faraday cage. The worst possible thing to put an AirTag in.
Hi Gp, I have a a Bolt v1. How close does it go to fitting the Silca Mount? Could I shave a little material off the back of the Bolt v1 with the dremel to make it fit?
It’s kind of close… but I’m not sure the case mod would work. It may require you to cut too much off the case and expose the insides. It’d be interesting to try. 🤔
Another great review. One concern I have is that my Envy has a stated weight limit that puts my Hero 9 just over the stated max. So I never use it and that blows. What is the weight limit for the GoPro mount of this Silca "luxury" mount?
Mounts like this have been available for years on Amazon for a fraction of the price. Other than saving a few grams, I don’t see what this mount brings to the table compared to cheaper varieties.
I bought this a number of years ago from the person who designed & sold it. I still have it somewhere in the junk drawer. Every other mount I've used over the years is better.
If you want to invest in a premium light mount get the Carbonworks mount. About the same price but better quality and a lot more adjustability. Appreciate the video!
@@deniskfender you may be right mate, but on my income i can't justify it. I normally will splurge on upgrades, but the original bolt mount is pretty light too. If it was in AUD price, maybe, but the AUD dollar is very weak.
The price is ok considering it's printed titanium, which takes more time than most think it will. But I can't wrap myself around WHY titanium. Carbon or even graphite injected plastic is 1/5th of the price and just "as cool". 34g for this. 31g for the Canyon Aero Garmin mount (plastic). Oh well...it's a niche :)
It's products like this that make me glad I'm not at all a weight weenie. US$125 for a GPS mount? Ridiculous. The aluminum out front mount that came with my Bryton 750 is perfectly good enough for me.
Like most Silca products over priced. On their website it states $183 this might be converted to AUD. If you are a concerned about bike weight a F3 mount is great, you will have money left over in your pocket and fits the stem better than the Silca. Minimal instructions with a $183 product, really now.
I am not convinced...my Aluminium one is lighter, shorter so it looks better and costs 1/10'th. The fact that it is printed titanium makes it unique but thats it...
I have two computer plastic mount made by Garmin. Both of them have about 5 year, still like new. No excuse for that ridiculous $125 price. Same BS with bikes. It's understandable a $4000 or even $6000 dollars bikes, but, $10,000, $12,000...really?
Eh, this is a hard pass. The under side where it bolts in looks kind of sloppy - maybe the standard would look cleaner. Not sure I like how thick the neck(?) of the mount looks, either. Also, that price! 💩
Heavy, expensive and bulky looking comparing to other premium stem mounts. With 3d printer I would make something more special design and maybe save weight.
The K-Edge is a complete waste of money. It is basically a heavier version of the original Wahoo mount, with zero aerodynamic benefits and cost almost as much as the Silca, which is at least different..
Thanks
Thanks TC! 🙏🏼
Personally I think this mount looks good with the garmin 1030, however I would love a shorter mount for the mid sized head units so they don't look so far out Infront.
What a great idea, that will reduce the weight of my credit card!
Thanks!

I have one of these (two bolt integrated) on my Grail, its great, worth the money IMO. Also some of them DO have tilt, mine does.

GP Lama Cycling Emporium. Whatever GPS unit you need, Shane will have.
That was about 1/2 of them. 🤣
@@gplama ok. Please visit Shane’s store for everything you need. 😀

I want to see what the SL7 tarmac mount looks like. Probably won’t change the specialized proprietary one that’s on there already but just curious.
Installed mine and I’m concerned about the sharp edges of the install interface rubbing against the cables.
Good point. I’d smooth out the edges with some file emery cloth if that was happening. (I’ll need to check mine)
Does edge 540 fits on that?
I just watched a 15 minute video on a titanium stem mount that retails for US$125
I hate myself. 🤣
I’m just glad Silca decided to make one for the Vision Metron 5/6D bars. We don’t have much options out there.
I have the Fetha out front mount on two bikes... really like it. Unfortunately they seem to be either out of stock or out of business....

Me too. I’ll need to get a hold of some. Their other AirTag mount is bloody horrible. It’s a Faraday cage. The worst possible thing to put an AirTag in.
Wonder why bolt v1 couldn't fit 🤔 and v2 would. Thought they have the same kind of mount
They’re slight different. Covered in my review of the Bolt v2.
Hi Gp, I have a a Bolt v1. How close does it go to fitting the Silca Mount? Could I shave a little material off the back of the Bolt v1 with the dremel to make it fit?

@@gplama I got the bolt v1 to fit the chisela. Possibly doesn’t blend as nicely as the v2, but more than happy with the result until the v1 dies.
Price aside, I like te placement of the GoPro mount. Not so forward (directly under the bike computer) as it is on other mounts.
Another great review. One concern I have is that my Envy has a stated weight limit that puts my Hero 9 just over the stated max. So I never use it and that blows. What is the weight limit for the GoPro mount of this Silca "luxury" mount?
Not sure Silda have published a weight limit. It'll be on their website if so.
That Is exy. The GUB G696 mount is $20 AU and adjustable. Aluminium not Ti though.
will quadlock fit
Trek make the blendr mount that clips into bar mount-£12.00 & approx 20grms
they should also start to have the hammerhead puck with the mounts
Mounts like this have been available for years on Amazon for a fraction of the price. Other than saving a few grams, I don’t see what this mount brings to the table compared to cheaper varieties.
Looks nice, but the Zipp quick integrated mount still better and more usable.
That’s a full faceplate too. Using one on my gravel bike.
I bought this a number of years ago from the person who designed & sold it. I still have it somewhere in the junk drawer. Every other mount I've used over the years is better.
Unfortunately Chisela doesn't work with Exposure Strada light, only something much shorter. A bummer! Nice mount but with a drawback..
Your bike computer mount costs more than my whole bike
Your username is wider than my screen can display.
If you want to invest in a premium light mount get the Carbonworks mount. About the same price but better quality and a lot more adjustability. Appreciate the video!
Seems quite heavy for the price tbh. My extralite mount is 13g and looks better imo.
But great insight
Extralite chain rings looks awesome too!!
It's a battle between silca and carbonworks for the worlds most expensive mount 😂
Bolt V1 gang
Still no one making anything decent for Ritchey stems 😞
Ps the bolts in these stems are at an angle
Who doesn't like an outfront mount, and i like Silca. But seriously, that price is ridiculous.
Ti 3D printing is very expensive. Material cost a lot and procedures are very complicated. It should become cheaper in years
@@deniskfender you may be right mate, but on my income i can't justify it. I normally will splurge on upgrades, but the original bolt mount is pretty light too. If it was in AUD price, maybe, but the AUD dollar is very weak.

I always wonder how they configure the price of these gadgets,it’s just not justifiable!
There will always be suckers who'd buy them.
Titanium has some pleasant charasterictics for bike cycling. But weight is not one of them. It is heavier then aluminium and much more expensive.

For the huge uplift in price I'm not seeing any particular advantage, unless people just like the Silca logo
Great review but I’ll stick with K-edge
I'm amazed that people actually pay so much for Silca products.. I guess that as they have been going for so long there are plenty!!
Lovely mount. How can you have a mix of coloured bolts on your stem? Completely unacceptable.
you can get cycling computers with a mount for cheaper than this mount

Silca, an old great italian brand, now american. Great products however.

Heavy? Compared to….?
As far as I know guys at Silca say they value aerodynamics over weight. Still, 40 grams will be within margin of error even on an hour long climb.
The K-Edge is a complete waste of money. It is basically a heavier version of the original Wahoo mount, with zero aerodynamic benefits and cost almost as much as the Silca, which is at least different..
The option for the two-fin under mount on these can’t be forgotten.
Do a biker really need a 120$ computer mount ?? you will get mote benefit if invested in beer !
CLEARLY CONVENTIONAL HANDLEBARS AND APPLE WATCH USERS ARE NOT WELCOME !
What is this word soup? And you upvoted your own comment. CLASSY WORK THERE SHIFTY MCCAPSLOCK 🙄
That looks ugly and bulky. Strange application for 3D printing titanium. I stick with machined aluminum out front mounts.
F3 Form mount is way better
