Problem is ive use the gp5 ergon grips, and now when im using a road bar i really miss that flex. I got the ergons due to a bike crash so i get pain in my wrists. Been seriously contimplating the grip inserts

I just love my Kitchen sink bars with top and drop cruise control grips. So comfy. Its the cockpit I rode Brussels-Sweden-Brussels and the bike that its on (Specialized Diverge Sport) is now my commuter ride. Wish they made an internal routed version for Di2 and then I'd have it on my new bike too.
I've got the kitchen sink plus bag and cruise control grips. Really wish the bag was a little deeper. As it stands it's only good for a few mid ride snacks
I have the same impression as Jimmy when it comes to riding the dual position seat post with the suspension stem. It's a Frankenstein monster of an idea, but it just works so so well, and my buddy hated it, until he tired it. Hahaha. Thanks for doing this review!
I have the suspension post and stem. Game changing for bikepacking. Takes out the shock and vibrations. If you setup the elastomers properly you barely even notice the movement, but your hands thank you. Great company with proper useful items that aren’t gimmicks
I have their stem shock and their seat post shock, and I love them both. The combination of bigger tubeless tires, and then adding the RedShift shocks has totally changed my bike. I am seriously looking at buying the full kitchen sink handlebar group. Maybe without the bag part.
Love seeing all the crazy old school mtb stuff get refined, things like the Girvin Flexistem, Scott AT3’s and moreso AT4’s, Oxford and USE suspension seatposts etc. I even remember ergo grips like that that nobody would touch because they might be comfortable and make you look weak😅 Love how this stuff goes round and round and better and better. Still waiting for someone to do a take on the Tioga Disk Drive/Pro, tho I have seen similar. Love the content guys💪🏼
Thank you for doing this video. I've had a long relationship with redshift products. I do a few triathlons a year since 2015. Mostly 70.3s. All on redshift equipt bikes. I built my current bike with a Dual-Position Seatpost, a Shockstop stem and the clip on aero bars similar to the setup you've shown but with some additional modifications. My groupset is a mix of Sram Rival and Force and I rigged up some Sram Clicks with custom disconnects at the end of the aero bars that allow me to take the aero bars off and on and have electronic bar end shifting in seconds. The whole setup is clean and tidy. The Sram Blips were not out at the time of my bild. With those it would be even easier to have a setup with removable electronic shifting aero bars. I love that on group rides where I'm not using my aero bars there are no tools required to take them off when I am ready to put them back on they are set in the EXACT same position they were before. No messing around trying to get the angle back to what I had it before. They clamp back to the exact position by bike fitter worked out for me. My fitter and I spend a bit of time working on my fit in both the Aero and Road bike position. My fit is aggressive in both positions but comfortable enough that I can be in either position all day without fatigue (full disclosure... We got to my aero position by using some Profile Design extensions...not the Red Shift extensions that come with the clip on aero bar kit). When my bike is if full tri mode with my EZ Gains Wheel Cover it feels rapid. I don't think the marginal gains of a TT bike would are worth the cost of a second dedicated bike for me (at my current level) when I can get almost there with the one bike I have. I think people are unaware of how this sort of versatility can benefit them. I'm a seated climber and I love having the option to flick my seat back on a climb and settle in to a road bike position and spin my way up all the way up then flic back to aero position at the summit. It's also great that on technical sections were a road bikes handling is beneficial it just takes a flick of the seat to get to my road position and a flick to return back to aero position once the road opens up again. I never have to choose what bike would be better for whatever race I'm doing. That segways into the other benefit. Being able to pop the aero bars off and on has made traveling a little easier as well. I can fit my bike in a much smaller case that a normal time trial bike would fit into becasue I don't have to contend with fitting awkward aero handlebar setups in a case. Traveling with a smaller case has made it easier and cheaper to get about at race venues. I don't have to worry about renting a large vehicle or arrange for large taxi/ubers. My smaller Post Carry Transfer case fits in about any car. Love the chanel and the content. Keep up the good work.
I have the non-pro suspension seat post and I'm ~105kg. At first, I had the standard springs and set the pre-load to 4 out of 5. It felt way too springy. I bought the stiffer springs and adjusted the pre-load the max setting. It's a game changer. It's stiff enough that I don't feel like I'm bouncing down the road, but provides nice vibration dampening. When I hit a really big bump, it compresses quite a bit and takes the most of the hit. It feels like I'm floating down the road (in a good way). I also have the suspension stem and it's set to the max stiffness. It has improved ride comfort to such a degree that I could never see myself going back to a stiff stem. I have conducted multiple tests with my previous seat post and stem (titanium) and the Redshift ones. There is no detectable performance difference. That surprised the hell out of me. Bike specs: Lynskey Helix Road frame (titanium), Light Bicycle deep section wheels (carbon) with 28mm GP5000 AS TR set up tubeless, Specialized Power Pro saddle, Redshift suspension stem (non-pro), Redshift suspension seatpost (non-pro)
Had these for years on my gravel/adventure bike about time they got some love! By the way redshift is the shift in the light spectrum (towards red) used to calculate the speed of objects in space moving away from us ,usually stars or galaxies.
This is something that deserves A LOT MORE exposure! Back then the bike is fun and it's all about unique parts, the modifications, hacks, mix ups... Though I'm not a rider from 90-2000 era but I find a lot of similar stuffs were from that era, how I know? because I have tried to find these stuffs hard, but all I got is some old forum talks about these products... Until early 2010s people were still positively interested in converting road bike to TT, what surprised me most is there were even a lot of talks about converting the first gen Specialized Venge to TT use, then there seems were even official kits from Specialized for this purpose (reversed seat post and alike). All I can say is that is a different Specialized, and a different group of people as the customers. Today all they want is you to buy that $10000 TT bike after the fact that you have already bought a $10000 road bike. What is more ridiculous is the riders community seems to fall into this victim state happily. Now you talk about converting or doing TT on road bike everyone mocks you. They will just say you are poor, less committed, less serious, less knowledgeable, and you do not deserve the holy TT/TRI sport.
redshift also make light up pedals which I love on my urban e bike, great way to increase visibility especially in these dark winter nights, they only do flat pedals at the moment but clipless are coming
Love them pedals, I have them on my winter commuter & definitely makes me way more visible. They showed them very briefly at the beginning of the video but didn't review them
Clipless still seem to be not available, but Look has some similar pedals with the Geo Trekking Vision, and these have a flat side (with (Roc) or without pins) and a SPD clipless side. However these lamps are only on one end (you can buy a second pair) and always amber color (while the redshift cycles between red and white).
I have Redshift stems, bars and grips. At first I thought that the stems were crap as they didn't really bounce much when I was going over potholes and larger features. It was only later that I realized that I simply wasn't getting hand numbness any more. The stems took the road buzz away rather than being ultra-bouncy. I suppose that if I put the more supple elastomers in that I could get a bounce, but I'm happy with a bar that's actually quite stiff but supple enough to work. No bounce at all when I'm pulling on the bars or standing up while climbing steeper grades. The shape of the bars is ultra comfortable for multiple days of 100 km+ rides.
The dual position seat post with aero bars is an absolute GAME CHANGER!! I’m a beginner triathlete in every sense of the term and currently riding a Diverge (gravel bike) it really throws you over the bars and there is definitely a speed gain out of this more aggressive position! Glad RedShift is getting some love!
I thought I was the only guy out there doing triathlons on a Diverge! I've been using the dual position seatpost and aerobars for a couple years now, and I agree, it's a game changer. I recently purchased a new tri bike, but I'm worried it won't be as fast or comfortable as my Diverge tri setup.
Absolute banger of a video, these products have been covered a lot by many people but your opinions are the ones I value the most. I'd love to see you guys lean even further into goofy products in the future, maybe converting a cheap flat bar bike to a "drop bar" gravel bike with something like the Surly corner bar, or seeing how close you can get one of the Decathlon bikes to Jimmi's TT bike in speed, using only these products to adjust the riding position!
The stem from Redshift is awesome! I had it on my bike before I switched to my Lauf Seigla so I don’t need it for front suspension anymore. It was a game changer for a bike with a rigid fork. I would highly recommend it!
I loved my kitchensink so much on my bikepacking rig, I got another one for my single speed steamroller for the city. Both grips, no loop. Also got the suspension stem. Best bar out of ~10 I’ve tried.
I'm running kitchen sink bars with the top grips and the front loop on my ATB. I ended up sticking a large feed bag from Road Runner (AUTO-PILOT STEM BAG) inside of the loop (this was well before Red Shift had a bag) and I absolutely love the setup and bars. Great Vid!
Redshift are making some nice stuff, but the "Flexstem" was a popular product in the 80s/90s (and the Allsop stem was better than this and won world MTB champs in the early 90s), the thudbuster and USE suspension seatposts have been on the market for decades, and various other equivelant goodies have been around over the years. The only innovation is in creating a go-to brand for these things, and handy though that is, "innovation" is a stretch of a term for it.
Those Kitchen Sink handlebars look amazing. There’s so much more of this sort of stuff out there for niche riders than what there used to be. Just over twenty years ago, I was kitting myself out for a Tierra del Fuego to Peru ride. I was trying to find bars that would give me multiple hand positions and allow a drop position for those windy stretches in Patagonia. Most bike shops couldn’t even comprehend the need for such a thing, let alone recommend anything. Yes, bike options have come a long way.
As a triathlete who does not want to buy an expensive time-trial bike for a few rides (and seconds) per year, I love the two-position seat post and the clip-on aerobats. The seat post allows easy transition between normal and TT positions (I use it with a TT saddle though). The clip on aero bars means I can do my usual rides without the bars, then clip them on whenever I need them for a race or TT training. But I only have to set their position up once. There is also a mounting adapter for the aerobats to put the bike computer between the bars close to the handlebar. Both great products and certainly worth the money!
I’ve has the stem for about 4 years and it really makes gravel riding more comfortable. I also got the suspension seatpost but I gave up on it due to fit issues. I ride a zero setback post and I simply couldn’t get my saddle forward enough with the Redshift.
I have used the clip-on/clip-off areo bars for about a year and a half and they are awesome! they also make spacers so you raise and lower the height really easily.

Those grips look very similar to a product called "morgan grips" from ~1980. I had a pair for a time and while I don't recall much about them, it's interesting to see yet another example of the cycling industy recycling old ideas. :)
I haven't bought anything Redshift yet, but I see ads for them all the time and my thoughts on their products align exactly with what you guys have said here. Everything looks weird but I can see how I'd enjoy having it. It's just the cost that turns me off.
I think you guys nailed it for RedShift. They are weird on paper... but... if you think you might like it and are willing to pay for it, the product is really cool. I was fortunate to be given a seatpost (the 'ight' version) to try. I installed it on a road bike because I am a nerd, expecting to have a 'meh' reaction. Nope. More 'Wow!" But a subtle 'wow' if that makes sense. It just disappears under your butt but you know it is there. I had it on a century a week later and really NOTICED how much less rough the expansion gaps etc were and my behind was happier at the end. I liked it so much that I'm setting up my gravel bike too now.
I have had the suspension stem, Kitchen sink bars, and suspension seatpost on my Orange RX9 gravel bike for over two years. They make the bike really comfortable, especially over long periods in the saddle. Only downsides were price (but you get what you pay for) and my LBS moaning that setting up,the stem was a bit of a pain. But he moans whenever I ask him to fit a new type of product. I've had the quick release aerobars on my Brompton ever since I bought it. Love them. At $200 they're $50 more than my road aerobars which isn't too much more. I enjoyed this video and I'm about to order some drop bar grips which I didn't even know they made until you showed me. Yes, their stuff is expensive, but it's well made and often unique.
Stem: Highly recommended for skinny tire bikes. I put the Redshift stem on my gravel bike and could not feel any benefit (thanks to the fat tires). Switched it to my road bike riding on 25 mm tires and it was a game changer.
I use the kitchen sink bars on my indoor trainer. Game changer. Very comfortable to sprint in. I also mount a keyboard on the front loop. I can type on Zwift chat with ease.
I use the 2 positions seat post with tt-bar for years to turn my old 26" MTB into a great travel bike able to cope with trails and flat road. A great product.
Got my first ever drop bar bike recently, a used gravel bike and it had the stem from the previous owner, coming from mountain biking and riding gravel that's more like not so extreme MTB trails ( what it sounds like bike shop Nick rides) it's fantastic and I wouldn't want to be without it
I use the Shockstop stem and seatpost on my gravel bike and I swear by them. The increase in comfort and control far exceeds the 400g weight penalty over rigid parts. The best praise I can give it is that can subtle enough you don't notice it working until you go back to rigid parts. IMHO, the standard Shockstop seatpost is better suited for offroad (more active, nore travel) but the pro version is excellent on road bikes (firm and subtle). Currently, I have the Pro versions of the stem and seatpost on my road optimized gravel bike and it is so comfortable on long rides and poor quality roads.
I have to agree. I bought their seatpost when it was a kickstarter project. I waited more than a year before it was shipped but I wouldn't be without it. What you didn't mention is the construction parts they use such as Igur bearings. They don't need lube and as I can attest, don't wear out.
Redshift is the “change in colour” of the light as any object moves away from you - like the Doppler effect when a car horn or siren changes pitch as the car passes you.
I have ridden red shift bars with extra rubber for a couple of years gives so much comfort and control on long rough gravel and bike packing adventures.
I have the suspension seat post and stem with the clip on aero bars on my Surly Ogre. This bike is my multi day touring bike and all three are a game changer. Ride comfort has increased because of the seat post and stem. The aero bars give you another position which i find great long days in the saddle. After thousands of miles I can say they are well made as well.
I bought a set of kitchen sink bars earlier this week, after seeing them on a bike build on Jimmies channel! used the channel as my reference on the checkout on redshift so hopefully they send you some love!
Wondering if that flip seatpost could help with climbing? Bringing your weight over the BB for steep extended hills. Could be the basis for a great video.
The flip seatpost (front position) can help you open your hip angle when climbing very steep ascents. Your thoughts went into the right direction . Last year I experimented with a high and extreme forward saddle position for steep climbs. It gave me a slighty better climbing speed with a good weight balance and with a natural feel, but this setup was nearly unusable on descents. Then the rear position of the flip seatpost is the way to go. (I don't like unwanted stoppies when braking hard before cornering🙂) . The idea is great ,but... my personal favourite would be a significant lighter carbon version of this flip seatpost.
Redshift seems to make a lot of very thoughtful, but niche, products. One thing that has been tried many times before is the suspension seat post. It’s a favorite of people riding beach cruisers who have all their weight on the saddle. But, for an enthusiast, they don’t tend to work because they sap power and introduce pedal bob. I’d be interested to know whether you’ve seen that. A spring between the saddle and the bottom bracket can’t help but have those side effects.
I rode that Kitchensink with Loop in 47cm for over half a year. Here is the Feeback: To have the possibility of "Aero Bars" casually in the City is supernice, never been too fond of riding in the drops for extended periods myself, so to tuck into the loop is a very significant aerodynamic advantage and comfy enough for a couple of hours. Im 1,85 and "standart" bulky at 90kg but even for Gravel/Singletrack 47cm is not necessary, so Id go with 44cm next time around. Imho the angle of the loop should be steeper so that the wrists dont have to twist too uncomfortably and the space before the drop bend starts should be shorter because now it adds almost about one stem size (2cm) of reach compared to other bars. I do not understand at all why anyone would put a bag in there, you lose the functionality that makes the loop a thing in the first place, if I want a bag there id opt a normal handlebar and bag or put it beneath the loop. I would love a handlebar with the changes mentioned, suggestions welcome.
I was looking at the redshift stem and didn’t like the single pivot either. Ended up going with the Kinect suspension stem, which is a dual pivot so the bars don’t lean. Have put about 800 miles on it gravel road mix and love it! Has reduced shoulder pain to almost unnoticeable. It’s worth a look if you are looking at suspension stems.
Love Redshift, I suffer with Psoriatic Arthritis in my hands, the suspension stem (& to some extent the Cruise Control) have allowed me to keep riding - when I might have been forced to give up my bike. Night & day comfort difference for me commuting on a 75% gravel, 25% road route. Just all around good design.
I have their kitchen sink bar with grips and tape and the stem. It greatly increases my comfort. My seat post just arrived today and my aching bum is looking forward to it. One observation on the Kitchen Sink bar; I purchased the bar with the loop for use on my bikepacking gravel bike. The loop causes issues with packing things up front. So I'm moving that bar to my road bike and ordered a replacement bar without the loop for the gravel bike. Comfort times two. Win, win. I do agree with the comment about pro products. It's just dumb.
I’m just glad that folks are finally riding proper sized tyres instead of those skinny rubber band 19c jobbies we used to. 40c+ are beyond comfortable on a gravel bike.
Redshift makes great products, but one thing from their products I thought you were missing.. Is their Arc light pedals, I have a couple myself. I drive with their pro version for off road driving and they have the best grip for my shoes that I have tried. And with the light on, they help everyone see you, on road and off road.
I use a Redshift seatpost on a hardtail MTB. I rode full-sus for 20 years and I can't say it's any less effective. In many ways it's better. Highly recommend.
The seatpost and stem are so good for long distance rides. If I still had the free time for more longer rides I’d be all over the handlebars and grips.
In science, redshift is about light moving away from the observer's position. As the light moves away (at the speed of light), the wavelengths stretch out in relation to the observer. The stretched lightwaves move more toward the infrared wavelength, making them shift red. Conversely, light traveling toward an observer will blueshift, or move toward the ultraviolet wavelengths as the lightwave is compacted (in relation to the observer). This is used for Doppler Radar and can also be experienced in soundwaves. A car coming toward you sounds higher pitch and then once it moves past, the pitch gets lower. Sound waves are compressing and expanding the same way that light does.
"What's redshift got to do with cycling?" Redshift is how wavelengths are stretched if the source is moving away from the observer. Basically turns a higher frequency wave into a lower frequency. This is pure conjecture, but I reckon they named the company after that because the suspension seatpost converts higher frequency vibrations into gentle lower frequency vibrations which are much more tolerable. With the seatpost it's the lower natural frequency of the springs which results in lower vibration frequency, not actual redshifting, but Redshift is also just a really cool word.
The name is actually way cooler. Fast objects (that move away from you) are red shifted. So a quicker rider that is dropping you is redshifted. Thats what that means. Its a really cool name cause it sounds nice, but it actually also has a deeper meaning, which totally fits the branding.
I love Redshift products. They just brought out another seatpost called the Pro Endurance which is half way between the two and will probably prove to be the most popular. One thing you didn't mention is Redshifts wonderful customer service which is second to none, they just want happy customers. I think their products are more popular than you realise (especially here in the US) because not all cyclists are aged under 30 and under 80kg...
the suspension stem is awesome - Ive been using one for a few years and it really is that good - 28mm tyres feel like 42mm tyres - for the seat suspension, if you don't mind the few extra grammes, go with Suntour NCX seatpost. A very good result - but they're only £60 odd, with a usable 15-20ish mm of vertical travel under load. It's like riding a cloud😄
I have arthritis in my hands and the handlebar top grips are super comfortable and allow me to ride lots of miles without pain. CRUISE CONTROL DROP BAR GRIPS ROCK!
I love the Redshift stems and I have them on two of my bikes but the thing that I dont like about then is if you are using a drop bar it will only work if you are on the hoods. if you put your hands on the drops the lever flexing motion does not work.
I've got the stem, seatpost, handlebar without hoop, and the cruise control grips. After riding them for nearly 6 months, I love everything except the lower cruise control grips. I found the texture unpleasant without gloves, and they didn't really add anything to my comfort. They aren't really in the right place and I haven't missed them since I took them off.
I really love their stuff (except from the price). I have the handle bars with top grips and drop grips and a shockstop stem. Apart from the stem unfortunatley being a bit too long for my bike’s (and my own) geometry, I love all that stuff. I am floored to having to realise I got to change to a 60mm stem, as the shortest one they make is 80mm.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's a pedant! Redshift is actually the change in frequency of light emitted by a _star_ that you can use to measure how fast it is moving away from you. (Planets would also have a _tiny_ redshift but as they are not stars the emission frequencies are not well defined so can't really be measured)
I've got the suspension seat post, bought it for my gravel but swap it between that and the road bike, its sooooo good! I dont care about an extra 200 grams, I do care about comfort and my back. The stem gets lots of great feedback online, might invest in one in the future.👍
Red shift occurs when a source of light, such as the edge of the universe is moving away from you so it stretches out the light waves increasing the wavelength which shifts visible light to the longer red end of the spectrum. It's similar to the Doppler effect but that's sound waves
Outside of competition optimization, these products just make your bike more ergonomic. The bonus is that they actually look pretty awesome, with a design sense that makes ergonomic look aggressive.
I have the suspension seat post on my endurance road bike. Anyone with a tendency for haemorrhoid like sensitivity or lower back condition - this is the solution, just buy a bike with a standard 27.2 seat tube. I also tried elastomer based Canecreek carbon post but found Redshirt metal spring system a lot more comfortable and adjustable to the point when I decided to void Canyon warranty and put Redshirt metal post into a carbon frame
Love my quick release aerobars...on the indoor trainer bike, click click...now on the outdoor bike (unfortunately can't use the seatpost since my 2019 checkpoint is not compatible)
I've got those handlebars but the variation minus the middle bit, I got mine in June 2022 and they weren't badly priced, certainly less than £50 and really comfortable.
I would love to see how the RedShift ahead and saddle suspenshion compares to Specialized Seat suspension and the Future shock stem. Another problem is more and more bike manufactures their own proprietary Seat posts, cable routing/hiding aheads a bars🤨
The drop bar grips make me incandescent with fury..why do these products do this? I might get some of those. Redshift is the parallax effect for photons. Light frequency changes because the frequency shift of the photons lengthens relative the speed the emitter is receding from the object the photons collide with, or shortens in frequency relative to the speed the emitter travels toward the receiving body, this is called blueshift. Prominent over interstellar distances but so detectable now it's used to detect planets around other stars as the spectra of the star shifts in frequency as the star oscillates due to the gravitational influence of an orbiting body.
There is another wonderful handlebar out there (I think), the Coefficient RR (Road Race) Carbon Handlebar. But it is sooo expensive. RedShift is almost all there and a lot cheaper.
I think that handlebar front mount bag thing is not a bad idea but you can’t take that thing off if you don’t want to ride with it. Making it detachable would be a no brainer for me.
I really like the look of some of their kit, but do you notice a real difference in fatigue when using their shock stop products? Or a difference in speed or comfort from their aero bar and dual-position seat post?
Personally I have noticed an increase in average speed off road using the seat post because it just adds so much more comfort, I'm standing on the pedals a lot less so can pedal more , hence the higher average speed....if you ride off road it's a game changer.

I have their stem shock and their seat post shock, and I love them both. The combination of bigger tubeless tires, and then adding the RedShift shocks has totally changed my bike. I am seriously looking at buying the full kitchen sink handlebar group. Maybe without the bag part.
Love seeing all the crazy old school mtb stuff get refined, things like the Girvin Flexistem, Scott AT3’s and moreso AT4’s, Oxford and USE suspension seatposts etc.
I even remember ergo grips like that that nobody would touch because they might be comfortable and make you look weak😅

Thank you for doing this video. I've had a long relationship with redshift products. I do a few triathlons a year since 2015. Mostly 70.3s. All on redshift equipt bikes. I built my current bike with a Dual-Position Seatpost, a Shockstop stem and the clip on aero bars similar to the setup you've shown but with some additional modifications. My groupset is a mix of Sram Rival and Force and I rigged up some Sram Clicks with custom disconnects at the end of the aero bars that allow me to take the aero bars off and on and have electronic bar end shifting in seconds. The whole setup is clean and tidy. The Sram Blips were not out at the time of my bild. With those it would be even easier to have a setup with removable electronic shifting aero bars. I love that on group rides where I'm not using my aero bars there are no tools required to take them off when I am ready to put them back on they are set in the EXACT same position they were before. No messing around trying to get the angle back to what I had it before. They clamp back to the exact position by bike fitter worked out for me. My fitter and I spend a bit of time working on my fit in both the Aero and Road bike position. My fit is aggressive in both positions but comfortable enough that I can be in either position all day without fatigue (full disclosure... We got to my aero position by using some Profile Design extensions...not the Red Shift extensions that come with the clip on aero bar kit). When my bike is if full tri mode with my EZ Gains Wheel Cover it feels rapid. I don't think the marginal gains of a TT bike would are worth the cost of a second dedicated bike for me (at my current level) when I can get almost there with the one bike I have. I think people are unaware of how this sort of versatility can benefit them. I'm a seated climber and I love having the option to flick my seat back on a climb and settle in to a road bike position and spin my way up all the way up then flic back to aero position at the summit. It's also great that on technical sections were a road bikes handling is beneficial it just takes a flick of the seat to get to my road position and a flick to return back to aero position once the road opens up again. I never have to choose what bike would be better for whatever race I'm doing. That segways into the other benefit. Being able to pop the aero bars off and on has made traveling a little easier as well. I can fit my bike in a much smaller case that a normal time trial bike would fit into becasue I don't have to contend with fitting awkward aero handlebar setups in a case. Traveling with a smaller case has made it easier and cheaper to get about at race venues. I don't have to worry about renting a large vehicle or arrange for large taxi/ubers. My smaller Post Carry Transfer case fits in about any car. Love the chanel and the content. Keep up the good work.
I have the non-pro suspension seat post and I'm ~105kg. At first, I had the standard springs and set the pre-load to 4 out of 5. It felt way too springy. I bought the stiffer springs and adjusted the pre-load the max setting. It's a game changer. It's stiff enough that I don't feel like I'm bouncing down the road, but provides nice vibration dampening. When I hit a really big bump, it compresses quite a bit and takes the most of the hit. It feels like I'm floating down the road (in a good way).
I also have the suspension stem and it's set to the max stiffness. It has improved ride comfort to such a degree that I could never see myself going back to a stiff stem.
I have conducted multiple tests with my previous seat post and stem (titanium) and the Redshift ones. There is no detectable performance difference. That surprised the hell out of me.

Had these for years on my gravel/adventure bike about time they got some love! By the way redshift is the shift in the light spectrum (towards red) used to calculate the speed of objects in space moving away from us ,usually stars or galaxies.
This is something that deserves A LOT MORE exposure! Back then the bike is fun and it's all about unique parts, the modifications, hacks, mix ups... Though I'm not a rider from 90-2000 era but I find a lot of similar stuffs were from that era, how I know? because I have tried to find these stuffs hard, but all I got is some old forum talks about these products... Until early 2010s people were still positively interested in converting road bike to TT, what surprised me most is there were even a lot of talks about converting the first gen Specialized Venge to TT use, then there seems were even official kits from Specialized for this purpose (reversed seat post and alike). All I can say is that is a different Specialized, and a different group of people as the customers. Today all they want is you to buy that $10000 TT bike after the fact that you have already bought a $10000 road bike. What is more ridiculous is the riders community seems to fall into this victim state happily. Now you talk about converting or doing TT on road bike everyone mocks you. They will just say you are poor, less committed, less serious, less knowledgeable, and you do not deserve the holy TT/TRI sport.

redshift also make light up pedals which I love on my urban e bike, great way to increase visibility especially in these dark winter nights, they only do flat pedals at the moment but clipless are coming
Love them pedals, I have them on my winter commuter & definitely makes me way more visible. They showed them very briefly at the beginning of the video but didn't review them
Clipless still seem to be not available, but Look has some similar pedals with the Geo Trekking Vision, and these have a flat side (with (Roc) or without pins) and a SPD clipless side.
However these lamps are only on one end (you can buy a second pair) and always amber color (while the redshift cycles between red and white).
I have Redshift stems, bars and grips. At first I thought that the stems were crap as they didn't really bounce much when I was going over potholes and larger features. It was only later that I realized that I simply wasn't getting hand numbness any more. The stems took the road buzz away rather than being ultra-bouncy. I suppose that if I put the more supple elastomers in that I could get a bounce, but I'm happy with a bar that's actually quite stiff but supple enough to work. No bounce at all when I'm pulling on the bars or standing up while climbing steeper grades. The shape of the bars is ultra comfortable for multiple days of 100 km+ rides.
The dual position seat post with aero bars is an absolute GAME CHANGER!! I’m a beginner triathlete in every sense of the term and currently riding a Diverge (gravel bike) it really throws you over the bars and there is definitely a speed gain out of this more aggressive position! Glad RedShift is getting some love!
I thought I was the only guy out there doing triathlons on a Diverge! I've been using the dual position seatpost and aerobars for a couple years now, and I agree, it's a game changer. I recently purchased a new tri bike, but I'm worried it won't be as fast or comfortable as my Diverge tri setup.
Absolute banger of a video, these products have been covered a lot by many people but your opinions are the ones I value the most.
I'd love to see you guys lean even further into goofy products in the future, maybe converting a cheap flat bar bike to a "drop bar" gravel bike with something like the Surly corner bar, or seeing how close you can get one of the Decathlon bikes to Jimmi's TT bike in speed, using only these products to adjust the riding position!
The stem from Redshift is awesome! I had it on my bike before I switched to my Lauf Seigla so I don’t need it for front suspension anymore. It was a game changer for a bike with a rigid fork. I would highly recommend it!
I loved my kitchensink so much on my bikepacking rig, I got another one for my single speed steamroller for the city. Both grips, no loop. Also got the suspension stem. Best bar out of ~10 I’ve tried.
I'm running kitchen sink bars with the top grips and the front loop on my ATB. I ended up sticking a large feed bag from Road Runner (AUTO-PILOT STEM BAG) inside of the loop (this was well before Red Shift had a bag) and I absolutely love the setup and bars. Great Vid!

Redshift are making some nice stuff, but the "Flexstem" was a popular product in the 80s/90s (and the Allsop stem was better than this and won world MTB champs in the early 90s), the thudbuster and USE suspension seatposts have been on the market for decades, and various other equivelant goodies have been around over the years. The only innovation is in creating a go-to brand for these things, and handy though that is, "innovation" is a stretch of a term for it.
Those Kitchen Sink handlebars look amazing. There’s so much more of this sort of stuff out there for niche riders than what there used to be. Just over twenty years ago, I was kitting myself out for a Tierra del Fuego to Peru ride. I was trying to find bars that would give me multiple hand positions and allow a drop position for those windy stretches in Patagonia. Most bike shops couldn’t even comprehend the need for such a thing, let alone recommend anything. Yes, bike options have come a long way.
As a triathlete who does not want to buy an expensive time-trial bike for a few rides (and seconds) per year, I love the two-position seat post and the clip-on aerobats. The seat post allows easy transition between normal and TT positions (I use it with a TT saddle though). The clip on aero bars means I can do my usual rides without the bars, then clip them on whenever I need them for a race or TT training. But I only have to set their position up once. There is also a mounting adapter for the aerobats to put the bike computer between the bars close to the handlebar.
Both great products and certainly worth the money!
I’ve has the stem for about 4 years and it really makes gravel riding more comfortable.
I also got the suspension seatpost but I gave up on it due to fit issues. I ride a zero setback post and I simply couldn’t get my saddle forward enough with the Redshift.
I like how they think that a bike and its components should accommodate the rider, and not the other way around.
I have used the clip-on/clip-off areo bars for about a year and a half and they are awesome! they also make spacers so you raise and lower the height really easily.

Those grips look very similar to a product called "morgan grips" from ~1980. I had a pair for a time and while I don't recall much about them, it's interesting to see yet another example of the cycling industy recycling old ideas. :)
I haven't bought anything Redshift yet, but I see ads for them all the time and my thoughts on their products align exactly with what you guys have said here. Everything looks weird but I can see how I'd enjoy having it. It's just the cost that turns me off.
I think you guys nailed it for RedShift. They are weird on paper... but... if you think you might like it and are willing to pay for it, the product is really cool. I was fortunate to be given a seatpost (the 'ight' version) to try. I installed it on a road bike because I am a nerd, expecting to have a 'meh' reaction. Nope. More 'Wow!" But a subtle 'wow' if that makes sense. It just disappears under your butt but you know it is there. I had it on a century a week later and really NOTICED how much less rough the expansion gaps etc were and my behind was happier at the end. I liked it so much that I'm setting up my gravel bike too now.
I have had the suspension stem, Kitchen sink bars, and suspension seatpost on my Orange RX9 gravel bike for over two years. They make the bike really comfortable, especially over long periods in the saddle. Only downsides were price (but you get what you pay for) and my LBS moaning that setting up,the stem was a bit of a pain. But he moans whenever I ask him to fit a new type of product. I've had the quick release aerobars on my Brompton ever since I bought it. Love them. At $200 they're $50 more than my road aerobars which isn't too much more. I enjoyed this video and I'm about to order some drop bar grips which I didn't even know they made until you showed me. Yes, their stuff is expensive, but it's well made and often unique.
Stem: Highly recommended for skinny tire bikes. I put the Redshift stem on my gravel bike and could not feel any benefit (thanks to the fat tires). Switched it to my road bike riding on 25 mm tires and it was a game changer.

I use the kitchen sink bars on my indoor trainer. Game changer. Very comfortable to sprint in. I also mount a keyboard on the front loop. I can type on Zwift chat with ease.
I use the 2 positions seat post with tt-bar for years to turn my old 26" MTB into a great travel bike able to cope with trails and flat road. A great product.
Got my first ever drop bar bike recently, a used gravel bike and it had the stem from the previous owner, coming from mountain biking and riding gravel that's more like not so extreme MTB trails ( what it sounds like bike shop Nick rides) it's fantastic and I wouldn't want to be without it
I use the Shockstop stem and seatpost on my gravel bike and I swear by them. The increase in comfort and control far exceeds the 400g weight penalty over rigid parts. The best praise I can give it is that can subtle enough you don't notice it working until you go back to rigid parts. IMHO, the standard Shockstop seatpost is better suited for offroad (more active, nore travel) but the pro version is excellent on road bikes (firm and subtle). Currently, I have the Pro versions of the stem and seatpost on my road optimized gravel bike and it is so comfortable on long rides and poor quality roads.
I have to agree. I bought their seatpost when it was a kickstarter project. I waited more than a year before it was shipped but I wouldn't be without it. What you didn't mention is the construction parts they use such as Igur bearings. They don't need lube and as I can attest, don't wear out.
Redshift is the “change in colour” of the light as any object moves away from you - like the Doppler effect when a car horn or siren changes pitch as the car passes you.
And for cycling, could indicate your tail light moving farther away from the person behind you in a race :)

I have ridden red shift bars with extra rubber for a couple of years gives so much comfort and control on long rough gravel and bike packing adventures.
I have the suspension seat post and stem with the clip on aero bars on my Surly Ogre. This bike is my multi day touring bike and all three are a game changer. Ride comfort has increased because of the seat post and stem. The aero bars give you another position which i find great long days in the saddle. After thousands of miles I can say they are well made as well.
I bought a set of kitchen sink bars earlier this week, after seeing them on a bike build on Jimmies channel! used the channel as my reference on the checkout on redshift so hopefully they send you some love!
Wondering if that flip seatpost could help with climbing? Bringing your weight over the BB for steep extended hills. Could be the basis for a great video.
The flip seatpost (front position) can help you open your hip angle when climbing very steep ascents. Your thoughts went into the right direction .
Last year I experimented with a high and extreme forward saddle position for steep climbs. It gave me a slighty better climbing speed with a good weight balance and with a natural feel, but this setup was nearly unusable on descents.
Then the rear position of the flip seatpost is the way to go. (I don't like unwanted stoppies when braking hard before cornering🙂) . The idea is great ,but... my personal favourite would be a significant lighter carbon version of this flip seatpost.
Redshift seems to make a lot of very thoughtful, but niche, products.
One thing that has been tried many times before is the suspension seat post. It’s a favorite of people riding beach cruisers who have all their weight on the saddle. But, for an enthusiast, they don’t tend to work because they sap power and introduce pedal bob.
I’d be interested to know whether you’ve seen that. A spring between the saddle and the bottom bracket can’t help but have those side effects.

To have the possibility of "Aero Bars" casually in the City is supernice, never been too fond of riding in the drops for extended periods myself, so to tuck into the loop is a very significant aerodynamic advantage and comfy enough for a couple of hours.
Im 1,85 and "standart" bulky at 90kg but even for Gravel/Singletrack 47cm is not necessary, so Id go with 44cm next time around.
Imho the angle of the loop should be steeper so that the wrists dont have to twist too uncomfortably and the space before the drop bend starts should be shorter because now it adds almost about one stem size (2cm) of reach compared to other bars.
I do not understand at all why anyone would put a bag in there, you lose the functionality that makes the loop a thing in the first place, if I want a bag there id opt a normal handlebar and bag or put it beneath the loop.
I would love a handlebar with the changes mentioned, suggestions welcome.
I was looking at the redshift stem and didn’t like the single pivot either. Ended up going with the Kinect suspension stem, which is a dual pivot so the bars don’t lean. Have put about 800 miles on it gravel road mix and love it! Has reduced shoulder pain to almost unnoticeable. It’s worth a look if you are looking at suspension stems.
Love Redshift, I suffer with Psoriatic Arthritis in my hands, the suspension stem (& to some extent the Cruise Control) have allowed me to keep riding - when I might have been forced to give up my bike. Night & day comfort difference for me commuting on a 75% gravel, 25% road route.

I have their kitchen sink bar with grips and tape and the stem. It greatly increases my comfort. My seat post just arrived today and my aching bum is looking forward to it. One observation on the Kitchen Sink bar; I purchased the bar with the loop for use on my bikepacking gravel bike. The loop causes issues with packing things up front. So I'm moving that bar to my road bike and ordered a replacement bar without the loop for the gravel bike. Comfort times two. Win, win. I do agree with the comment about pro products. It's just dumb.
I’m just glad that folks are finally riding proper sized tyres instead of those skinny rubber band 19c jobbies we used to. 40c+ are beyond comfortable on a gravel bike.
Watching this at work with my gravel bike with Redshift Shockstop stem behind me and nodding in agreement.
Redshift makes great products, but one thing from their products I thought you were missing.. Is their Arc light pedals, I have a couple myself. I drive with their pro version for off road driving and they have the best grip for my shoes that I have tried. And with the light on, they help everyone see you, on road and off road.
I was an early adopter of the dual position seat post and clip on aero bars. Great for using my commuter bike as my tri bike!
I use a Redshift seatpost on a hardtail MTB. I rode full-sus for 20 years and I can't say it's any less effective. In many ways it's better. Highly recommend.

The seatpost and stem are so good for long distance rides. If I still had the free time for more longer rides I’d be all over the handlebars and grips.
In science, redshift is about light moving away from the observer's position. As the light moves away (at the speed of light), the wavelengths stretch out in relation to the observer. The stretched lightwaves move more toward the infrared wavelength, making them shift red.
Conversely, light traveling toward an observer will blueshift, or move toward the ultraviolet wavelengths as the lightwave is compacted (in relation to the observer).
This is used for Doppler Radar and can also be experienced in soundwaves. A car coming toward you sounds higher pitch and then once it moves past, the pitch gets lower. Sound waves are compressing and expanding the same way that light does.
"What's redshift got to do with cycling?"
Redshift is how wavelengths are stretched if the source is moving away from the observer. Basically turns a higher frequency wave into a lower frequency. This is pure conjecture, but I reckon they named the company after that because the suspension seatpost converts higher frequency vibrations into gentle lower frequency vibrations which are much more tolerable. With the seatpost it's the lower natural frequency of the springs which results in lower vibration frequency, not actual redshifting, but Redshift is also just a really cool word.
The name is actually way cooler. Fast objects (that move away from you) are red shifted.
So a quicker rider that is dropping you is redshifted. Thats what that means. Its a really cool name cause it sounds nice, but it actually also has a deeper meaning, which totally fits the branding.
I love Redshift products. They just brought out another seatpost called the Pro Endurance which is half way between the two and will probably prove to be the most popular. One thing you didn't mention is Redshifts wonderful customer service which is second to none, they just want happy customers. I think their products are more popular than you realise (especially here in the US) because not all cyclists are aged under 30 and under 80kg...
the suspension stem is awesome - Ive been using one for a few years and it really is that good - 28mm tyres feel like 42mm tyres - for the seat suspension, if you don't mind the few extra grammes, go with Suntour NCX seatpost. A very good result - but they're only £60 odd, with a usable 15-20ish mm of vertical travel under load. It's like riding a cloud😄
I have arthritis in my hands and the handlebar top grips are super comfortable and allow me to ride lots of miles without pain. CRUISE CONTROL DROP BAR GRIPS ROCK!
I love the Redshift stems and I have them on two of my bikes but the thing that I dont like about then is if you are using a drop bar it will only work if you are on the hoods. if you put your hands on the drops the lever flexing motion does not work.
I've got the stem, seatpost, handlebar without hoop, and the cruise control grips. After riding them for nearly 6 months, I love everything except the lower cruise control grips. I found the texture unpleasant without gloves, and they didn't really add anything to my comfort. They aren't really in the right place and I haven't missed them since I took them off.
I use the cruise control tops and bar tape. I I absolutely love them. Especially on really long rides.
I really love their stuff (except from the price). I have the handle bars with top grips and drop grips and a shockstop stem. Apart from the stem unfortunatley being a bit too long for my bike’s (and my own) geometry, I love all that stuff. I am floored to having to realise I got to change to a 60mm stem, as the shortest one they make is 80mm.
I got the suspension stem since 18 month on my gravel bike and I love it. I works pretty well, especially when going "real offroad"
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's a pedant! Redshift is actually the change in frequency of light emitted by a _star_ that you can use to measure how fast it is moving away from you.
(Planets would also have a _tiny_ redshift but as they are not stars the emission frequencies are not well defined so can't really be measured)
I've got the suspension seat post, bought it for my gravel but swap it between that and the road bike, its sooooo good! I dont care about an extra 200 grams, I do care about comfort and my back. The stem gets lots of great feedback online, might invest in one in the future.👍

Red shift occurs when a source of light, such as the edge of the universe is moving away from you so it stretches out the light waves increasing the wavelength which shifts visible light to the longer red end of the spectrum. It's similar to the Doppler effect but that's sound waves

Got the stem for 150€ as deal on amazon. The last 2 months i enjoied it quite a lot.
Outside of competition optimization, these products just make your bike more ergonomic. The bonus is that they actually look pretty awesome, with a design sense that makes ergonomic look aggressive.

I have the suspension seat post on my endurance road bike. Anyone with a tendency for haemorrhoid like sensitivity or lower back condition - this is the solution, just buy a bike with a standard 27.2 seat tube. I also tried elastomer based Canecreek carbon post but found Redshirt metal spring system a lot more comfortable and adjustable to the point when I decided to void Canyon warranty and put Redshirt metal post into a carbon frame
Can you guys please also test the FSA VAS stem? This one is supposed to absorb vibrations as well.
Love my kitchen sinks on my gravel bike. Plus the loop provides some protection for my garmin.

I've got those handlebars but the variation minus the middle bit, I got mine in June 2022 and they weren't badly priced, certainly less than £50 and really comfortable.

The drop bar grips make me incandescent with fury..why do these products do this? I might get some of those. Redshift is the parallax effect for photons. Light frequency changes because the frequency shift of the photons lengthens relative the speed the emitter is receding from the object the photons collide with, or shortens in frequency relative to the speed the emitter travels toward the receiving body, this is called blueshift. Prominent over interstellar distances but so detectable now it's used to detect planets around other stars as the spectra of the star shifts in frequency as the star oscillates due to the gravitational influence of an orbiting body.
There is another wonderful handlebar out there (I think), the Coefficient RR (Road Race) Carbon Handlebar. But it is sooo expensive. RedShift is almost all there and a lot cheaper.

I think that handlebar front mount bag thing is not a bad idea but you can’t take that thing off if you don’t want to ride with it. Making it detachable would be a no brainer for me.

I really like the look of some of their kit, but do you notice a real difference in fatigue when using their shock stop products? Or a difference in speed or comfort from their aero bar and dual-position seat post?
Personally I have noticed an increase in average speed off road using the seat post because it just adds so much more comfort, I'm standing on the pedals a lot less so can pedal more , hence the higher average speed....if you ride off road it's a game changer.
