Thanks Winnifred for being your beautiful Black/African Trinbagonian self with a vision of self not limited to geopolity nor place of birth. You were a truly gifted and blessed soul. May your own land of nativity continue to applaud your works and gifts to the world. Your broke barriers and boundaries. May your spirit live forever.

Timelessly and beautifully dramatic. It still sounds as fresh and enthralling as when I first heard it as a child back in the late 1960^s..........

Is it possible to post another classic by Winnifred Atwell, "Sleeping Bee" which used to be the theme for TTT's Community Dateline in its very early days? (1979-1980 I believe). I have been searching the internet for this piece for years, and I have never been fortunate enough to come across it. "Sleeping Bee", and the music of Anthony Prospect, like "Maracas Bay" would be so nice to hear again. Music from this era in Trinidad and Tobago history I am begining to sadly conclude is just being discarded and lost. And what has taken its place is just a cacophony of wine and jam jungle noise.
According to accounts I have heard, Winnifred Atwell's father owned a pharmacy, which was located on the site of what is now the Tunapuna Public library. The family home was just a short distance away , on Jubilee street.

This is a real bad tune!! It used to be the theme tune for a news programme on TTT when I was a small child. I used to dance in front the tv to it.
