you will love it. just remember, keep it serviced, every once in a while check the oil and don’t baby it. The sho loves to be ran ran hard. My son is now using it for college tournaments and he doesn’t give it any slack. There are times where he makes 20-30 miles, some times 40 miles, and runs it wide open. I have 473 hours on it and it is still running strong. I’ve never babied it myself but my son gives it hell 😂. Never had an issue with it.
@@lakerunner200 3 weeks in and I do love it. Previous owner had it over propped at 21" for a 22' alum bay boat. I was only getting 4500 rpm at wot. Changed it to a 17" and I'm in range now. I just got the jack plate working again but haven't run it with just me in it. Last outing I was able to hit 48 at 5300 but we had a tube and 2 adults and 2 kids in it.
@@sheaffergrubbs6056 I just did the 100 hr service on it and it's been great so far. Plenty of torque for a hole shot if needed. It's just a solid beast for sure.
panamacitybeachbum if it’s rated for a 250 then get that. What ever it is rated for, get that hp. Follow the book on break in. At the first service after break in, make sure they change the spark plugs. That’s important. The plugs will foul out during break in. After break in let that beast eat. The sho was designed to run and not pampered. It loves it
@@lakerunner200 The max horsepower for the Sailfish is 200. I'm installing a jackplate . With a jackplate I can run my lower unit higher with less drag.
carbonflinger1 normally run a fxp 26 pitch. This day I was running a Yamaha 27m. Only performance difference in the fxp 26 and 27m is the 27m is faster. I don’t run the 27m much. Blades are thin and might break so I mostly use the fxp prop. The 27m is just my play prop and it’s a prop I had on my old engine.
@@lakerunner200 right but it’s they are all the same block, i’m sure there’s differences between the sho and the offshore model in the engine but they are built form the same block
@@lakerunner200 yeah also since 300 hp is the highest hp they make out of that block i feel like an sho 300 would be to much power for the engine and making it unreliable
Just bought a boat with this motor on it. I keep watching your video until I get to the weekend for the first key turn... Longest. Week. Ever!

@@MrGibsn1960 good deal. Play with the jack plate and you will get a little more out of it.
How's your SHO doing. ....how do you like it......thinking of buying one

I have a 2015 250 sho on my Skeeter SX 220 with 1610 hrs and still a beast. Love it.
That’s awesome. This one now has 713 hours.
thats a beautiful motor. I have a new F300 with the electric power steering. Looking into mods for it now. Does that share the same 4.2L power head?
Yes, it’s a 4.2 block.
Ever think about getting Hydro Tech to flash the ECU?
I thought about it but I gave the boat to my son to fish college tournaments so I’m going to leave it alone.
Can you tell me what year your sho is? Or how old it is? Thanks
It’s a 2015. More hours have been put on it since this video. It now has 710 hours. It’s on a 1996 zx200 Skeeter. I repowered in 2015.
Can only find the 175 SHO in sale here in Europe? Anyone know why? There is then the 200 normal version but no SHO.
I guess because it’s hard to get motors anywhere right now.

Brutal !
same thing as the 225 250 and 300 just waterd down
They don’t make a 300 sho. They do make a 300 4.2L in a offshore engine but not in the sho model.
@@lakerunner200 right but it’s they are all the same block, i’m sure there’s differences between the sho and the offshore model in the engine but they are built form the same block
That’s right. They need to make a 300 in a sho but the sho is more focused on bass boats since the pro circuit has a 250 rating.
