Just finished making two 18" bags per your instructions; one I made with the stretch elastic and one with single-fold bias tape. Having never worked with this elastic, I found it difficult as my presser foot kept stretching the elastic and I had several creases in the finished product. In areas where I stretched the elastic slightly, I had less creasing. On the single-fold bias tape, I used a zig-zag stitch and it came out quite well. Actually, both bags are very nice and I look forward to using them. Thank you for your excellent instructions.
Great Tutorial! Annie made it very easy to follow!
Love this! I can see making these for my family--and color code them to each of my Grandson's when they come to visit!
I have made two of these so far and they are so easy to make! Thanks for the tutorial, I had to redo the zipper but the video helped a lot. Thank you!
AWESOME! I love to make bags!

Love it!!!!!
Thanks a lot! 😎🌸
This is a great tutorial. I'd like to know where I can get nylon coil zippers with plastic zipper pulls like I've seen on some brands of ready made laundry bags. I've found that over time the metal zipper pulls can develop sharp points that leave holes in the other garments during the wash. The bags are still great but the metal zipper pulls have become sharp.
Hi Cindy! We love ByAnnie zippers - they do have metal zipper pulls, but we haven't experienced sharpening over time. You can shop ByAnnie zippers here - www.fatquartershop.com/byannie-zippers
You can also check with your local craft store to see if they might carry zippers with plastic zipper pulls.
Hi what about a hair fascinator? can you make out of this mesh?
when we click on the mad about mesh pattern it sends us to an error page is there something wrong with the page and where can we get the pattern
how to make a zippered center divider to a purse please!
where do you buy the mesh from?
You can find it in our shop here: www.fatquartershop.com/byannie-notions
Fold over elastic?
Do you still sell the mesh bag pattern? Your link doesn't seem to go to the pattern?
How do you cut through the zipper? I am afraid to dull my good shears.
Hi Katie! With the ByAnnie zippers we cut them with an Olfa rotary cutter. They are made out of different material than metal zippers so that's why they won't dull your blade. However, if it's a concern to you we suggest using dull rotary blades or old scissors.
Is the mesh fabric you sell stretchy?
Hey Suzanne! The mesh we have is a little stretchy, just enough to fit around any items you put in your bag. Hope this was helpful!
Is this strong enough to hold produce?
Hi Marjolein! We haven't personally tried it, but one or two produce items should be fine! Careful adding too much weight though and let us know how it goes if you try it!
Can’t you use bias tape instead of elastic fold over tape, seems like a gimmick to get you to buy stuff you don’t really need
Hi Jay, you can certainly use any material you like for the edge, we like the elasticized handle for this project, but you certainly use whatever you like
