I fit the description of the dolphin. I am a creative person and that fits too. I wonder how childhood trauma affects my sleep. I never felt safe throughout my childhood. These traumas weren’t as much of an issue during the day but at night, these issues would fill my thoughts.
Just discovered the premise of “chronotype” and my god I am definition a dolphin, I don’t think I’ve ever had 8 hours sleep in my life yet a solid 5 hours and I’m fine 👍 Getting to sleep is the hardest part for me, any tips?
Hi! Thanks for watching. For getting to sleep, try creating a relaxing bedtime routine, limiting screen time before bed, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, and making your sleep environment comfortable. Good luck!
Being a Dolphin (according to the quiz)and having ADHD😓 I've noticed if I can just wrestle myself up around 6:30,to 7:00 am,I feel my best. The issue is to get myself to sleep on time, and having some routines in place to calm my mind & body before I go to bed. The problem is I keep procrastinating. Like,I know what I should do,but I just don't(common issue with ADHD) Any advice?
Hey! I don't know if you solved it already, but I had the same problem. I shifted my perspective from going to bed at the right time to wake up at the right time. I couldn't fall asleep at the right time, so I ask for help to consistently wake at time I wanted. Thay way I was tired enough to fall asleep when I had to.
As a Dolphin, it's reassuring to know that it's genetically programmed...and not something I'm doing wrong. Structure works some days better than others. I was also diagnosed with REM sleep disorder/restless leg syndrome. Is this correlated with being a dolphin?🐬
Dolphin here ----- since age 5 basically with 4 young children....l feel as if my sleep cycles is totally out of control, especially the structure bit. Wired and tired....but at the wrong times of day and very little time for self. I can't wait to shift to Lionhood😢
I'm a dolphin. It started in 2013 due to a traumatic experience. Since then, my sleep pattern has changed to what it is now. I have to try meditation and other forms of exercise aside from walking and strength training which aren't enough to lower my anxiety. I will be joining a Tai chi class next week for the first time. The instructor is very helpful by giving me tips and meditation videos. I am looking forward to joining his class soon.
@@bella4644 Tai Chi sounds amazing! I took, used to rely heavily on yoga/ Pilates and walks to calm myself and relieve stress! It works wonders! I hope to have more time soon to return to those things
Is it possible to be a hybrid of a wolf & dolphin? Because I tend to fall within both categories. My natural sleep cycle is waking up around 6-7:30 but I don't go to sleep til about 12-1am but I wake up constantly every few hours and have diagnosed insomnia. I am more of a night owl but I also have bursts of energy through the day. Also does this affect those who work late shifts/graveyard shifts and split shifts? what is the best way to combat those who work overnights?

1000% never feeling safe is a recipe for insomnia
Yes

I'm a total dolphin and wake up anxious. 😂😂😂😂
So interesting! I was definitely a Dolphin like Megan until my mid 60s. Now I am a lion. 😊

Sounds like Pathological Demand Avoidance with ADHD.

Oh! I also have ADHD and struggled with sleep since I was a kid.

It could be, you should be working with a sleep specialist.
" REM sleep disorder/restless leg syndrome. " Interesting. Are these "/" to each other ? Synonymous?

No one is an EXACT chronotype. Think of it as more of a spectrum
Optimizing sleep for increased productivity
I wake up abruptly because of my sleep apnea, but breathwork helps my heart rate and fall back asleep.
What BW do you do? :D
