It doesn't work as he says....my University lecturer went through it with me because I got so far and it wouldn't work....there are apparently a lot of elements to getting to the finished which were missed out....
If you wanted to change the text color is it something to do ahead of time or it can be altered any time? Like maybe the background of the image isn’t the color you wanted (which is what you chose)
Hello there. I was having some problems about the opacity of the mask. Like after I made the clipping mask it really became unclear, the image I made the clipping mask on is also not clear. What can I do to solve the solve this problem?
Great videos. Very informative. My confusion is about what are the different things you can do with text: what is the difference among Expand, Outline and making Compound Path when manipulating text?
Hi, Thank you for this video. Could you help? I have followed your steps, but my image appears to be in front of the text I have attempted to mask it on... Thanks!
Nick, just want to say, I love your illustrator and inkscape tutorials. You explain things flawlessly. I'm just wondering about the compound path/shape that you made after uniting. I assume that was necessary in order to make the clipping mask? It's just that it seems like after uniting all to one shape that you wouldn't need to make a compound shape/path. Thanks!
hi I want to know if the object inside clipping mask can be move if im not satisfied with the position, icant move the object inside clipping mask thanks
@@DesignMadeSimple Oh thanks, man. Thank you for taking the time to teach basic stuff to dum-dums like me. It really helps and while I may not get into this as a career or even a hobby, I love to learn new things. Who knows, maybe when I understand things better I will get addicted.
It could be for several reasons but my guess would be that your text hasn't been converted to curves yet. Try selecting the text and going pressing Control + Shift + O
Didn't work, I couldnt get the letters to re- group by selecting the last letter and pressing shift, I tried many times and kept repeating the video, but it didnt work...
SO....my university lecturer went through this video with me to the point where it wouldn't work....and yes, YOU HAVE MISSED BITS OUT......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOO FAST...telling us like we already know..I struggled with the pen tool, so no tips there, I clicked on the photo with the select tool, that didn't work, then I couldn't find unite on pathfinder, so I gave up...
@@DesignMadeSimple Everything works up until deselecting and going to pathfinder...nothing goes right from this point...thank you for asking, I subscribed to your channel...
Actually Illustrator is EXTERMELY and stupidly annoying. You certainly cannot do everything you can imagine unlike photoshop, can you imagine I'm sitting for HOURS trying to "inverse" a mask?! I don't know what the F is wrong with Adobe not making this simple silly thing possible! I'm trying to hide a little area, so instead of making a shape of that exact SMALL area, no! Adobe has a better idea, it wants you to drow the WHOLE main shape, then clip it so that small area disappears. Oh my god.

This is the best. Thank you for narrating and explaining what you are doing with the shortcuts!

Great video, Nick.
Thank you!
Oh my god, he showed me this technique in 7 minutes !! Thank you very much.

BRILLIANT.
Great video! Is there a reason you didn't use the kerning feature in the font editor to bring the letters closer, instead of doing it manually?
I KNOW RIGHT. WAY EASIER
True, but I believe he won't be able to do so because he made them outlines so they cease to be text hence he can't edit them
u have very very cool ideas ....thanks a lot for the video
It's a 10/10 from me.
Excellent tip.
Thank you.
Ohhh man! great thanks! You helped me to complete my task at last. I know a lot but not enough. Great thanks and greetings from Ukraine!

very well taught! : D
Is it possible to invert a clipping mask like in Photoshop?
Quick question - at 5:22 your mast overlay is solid and then it turns transparent - how do i do that? I cant mask things if i cant see them...
There's an opacity slider at the top of the screen in the toolbar

Sir Thank you
how can your pen tool automatically drag the selected photos like that? 5:23
same thought
Isnt more easier if you just duplicate the subject and mask them afterward rathen than use pen tool?
Nice...
I went to your website and didn't find where i can download the free grudge textures
Is there any way of replicating this in some way in PowerPoint?
Helpful👍👍
6:20 for the answer
Why can't I seem to make a mask of all the text all at once? Mine only does one letter at a time
Can anyone tell me if I can do this in indesign as well? Thank you very much.
Is there any way to do this with a shape. Like maybe something like a 3D pop out but not in photoshop but illustrate
Yes, you can use any vector object for this. It doesn't have to be text.
@@DesignMadeSimple THANK YOU 100 FOR THE REPLY ! AND THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO MY LOGO IS COMPLETE ! THANK YOU TRULY.
I need the same photo can you add the link of the photo to editi
I have tried and tried and tried and followed to the second and it just won't do what you are doing...
I found this video helpful🙂

When I’m trying to do this with texture it just makes me do each letter individually
Why does mine says "can't make compound path. All objects must be paths,..." after I unite it.
It could be for several reasons but my guess would be that your text hasn't been converted to curves yet. Try selecting the text and going pressing Control + Shift + O
@@DesignMadeSimple Its working now, Thank you!
Why Compound Path?
Didn't work, I couldnt get the letters to re- group by selecting the last letter and pressing shift, I tried many times and kept repeating the video, but it didnt work...
It won't let me click create outlines
can anyone tell me which font used in this video ? and also suggest me the effective fonts for t shirts designs :)
The font I used is called Serrona
This good but doing this in photoshop is much simpler
When I click Pathfinder to bring it up, the path of the text becomes transparent ...
u didn't follow the steps correctly
In Photoshop Pls

Dope that ur name is nick lol. So is mine. Common name but still dope lol
You can adjust the spacing of the letters by just clicking ALT + arrow left or right before you create the outlines. Lol
True, but it's not as precise.
Fuck ill co back later
use photoshop - better for photos
Long story short use photoshop and this will be 10x easier to accomplish
TOO FAST...telling us like we already know..I struggled with the pen tool, so no tips there, I clicked on the photo with the select tool, that didn't work, then I couldn't find unite on pathfinder, so I gave up...
