I learned how to mask in less than 30 minutes compare to being in class for a whole two semester and still did not learn to mask properly. How amazing is that.
Undoubtedly, the best video on youtube for clipping masks. I have seen many videos and still, I had doubts but you cleared all doubts in this video thanks, brother.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I found all of it helpful. 3 weeks into my introductory college Ai class, I wanted to mask off objects that extended beyond the edge of my artboard. I asked 4 assistants plus my instructor specifically about masking the edges. None of them was able to offer a solution other than slicing the objects to remove the parts that went beyond the artboard. (Nobody even seemed to know anything about using clipping masks in Ai.) I'm so happy you decided to include the part about masking the edges of the artboard with the rest of the info. Your explanations are very clear. Thanks again.
Epic and invaluable information and instruction. I would suggest this channel to anyone in the creative industry. Thank You for sharing your knowledge.
I have been learning CS6 with the help of friends and videos. This masking video is the best and easiest tutorial I have found. Brilliant. Thanks and stay safe.
Yes, clip to artboard will be such a good feature. Presently we can only do it while exporting. I have fun the most while adding shadows through clipping mask. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for sharing with us your knowledge, you are one of the most generous mentors and it is a pleasure to watch you and learn from you, thank you very much
Best video explaining clipping masks and techniques that I've watched today! Very clear instruction/explanation and I really liked that he gave so many tips for troubleshooting as well. Great job, will def be subscribing for more!
Thanks for this. I've been using illustrator since COVID started. I love it and even showed my work at a talent show. I'm also a teacher. I know good teaching when I see, hear and experience it. YES, you're doing a great job. I've watched only a couple of your lessons so I will decide later if I want to join.
Really helpful. One thing I rarely use are masks, until yesterday where I couldnt work out how to do something. I tried a Mask, and 30 seconds later, the job was done.
this is the kind of tutorial I need. Lots of examples. Thank you! you've just gained a new subscriber. Your videos are straight on point. please make video on MESH pls
Great information. I learned more about masking than I ever thought I would! I learn by doing and at first I thought because there were no practice files, it would be a detriment but i created my own files and got to practice my other Illustrator skills and that really helped. I'm a designer and have used Illustrator since Macromedia Freehand became extinct (I'm dating myself :) I'll certainly be rolling this instructor in the future
Hi¡ Firts of all Congratulations for this video¡ And have to tell you (that) when I watch your videos I am learning how to use Ilustrator and at the same time I am learning english...because I am Mexican and I don´t Speak english...Thanks¡¡¡
Great tutorial! Thanks! Ps was the first Adobe program that I've learned and I was very frustrated with masking in Ai because (for some reason) masking work completely different in Ps an Ai... Thanks again! BTW, "clip all art to artboard" button - great idea!
Easy and clear to follow! I am struggling myself with masks between shapes and lines path, can you help me to understand how do I scale the mask without have to re-adjust the stroke all the time?thank you very much
On draw inside: combining final shapes like merging shapes etc. Drawn inside pieces are goin crazy! Therefore I am using plugins from astute graphics mrger with above shape function! There I can then release the shape and it gets me the final shape without any clipping masks.
This was a great ride and adventure in Ai, many moves, so it take some time to learn... for sure... also we are lucky you talk English too... McRoman /// SWEDEN ;)
Are you new to masking? So get ready I will breakdown the masking techniques and you can choose the one you like to use. Let's get masking!
Thank you :) Are you able to please help me with this issue? It seems it's due to using clipping mask: forums.adobe.com/message/11117719#11117719

I've learned so much during these 20 minutes, THANK YOU! I thought this was an official Adobe channel lol
If it was an official Adobe channel, you would have been totally confused after the first 3 minutes. LOL.
Great information. I learned more about masking than I ever thought I would! Easy and clear to follow! I am struggling myself with masks between shapes and lines path, can you help me to understand how do I scale the mask without have to re-adjust the stroke all the time?thank you very much
There is a setting in the Transform panel's drop-down menu for scaling strokes and effects.
this was so useful . thank u so much!
Simply amazing! Keep it up!
I was getting frustrated but this video helped me. Thank you so much Sr.
This topic can be hard to understand but you made it easy as always.
You are a wonderful teacher! Thank you. And I love your idea for Adobe to create a function to 'clip illustration to artboard'.
Thank you for the great video! I'm trying to find out if there is a way to bulk relink-delink all transparency masks at once. Is there a way??
On draw inside: combining final shapes like merging shapes etc. Drawn inside pieces are goin crazy!
Therefore I am using plugins from astute graphics mrger with above shape function! There I can then release the shape and it gets me the final shape without any clipping masks.
That's simply great. Thanks a Lotttt

Finally understanding this difficult concept thanks!
You're right. Understand bit by bit, then try to make a simple soft. You will learn as ti goes on. Even if it's havoc, don't worry, co
In the last example, there is an option to clip illustration to artboard just to preview. View>Trim view. I think available since Illustrator 2019
Much learned. Many thanks!
muchas gracias, estoy aprendiendo a un nivel asombroso, gran claridad en las explicaciones.
This was a great ride and adventure in Ai, many moves, so it take some time to learn... for sure... also we are lucky you talk English too... McRoman /// SWEDEN ;)
