The third suggestion I do it all the time, but I usually «speed it up» even more by copying the bottom square/rectangle/shape and then placing it with Shift+Ctrl (or Command)+V, to place it in the same place where the original is, and then, simply selecting everything and clipping the design... Thank you for the tips, though! Cheers to UK back from Portugal!
Wow! This tutorial is so good and so helpful. You make it seem so easy and one thing I have to say is that your explanations are short and so very easy to understand, rather than other ones I've seen, the tutorial is so long, to the point that at the end you don't even fully understand anything. Thanks so much for your efforts and your time.
In the last few days I have used the clipping mask a lot. It definitely makes the design fun and cleaner. Thanks for the tutorial Sir Tom. As always, have a great day.
I'm really good at using Clipping mask on Photoshop, but have no idea how to use it in Illustrator. A struggle of a graphic illustrator who moves to graphic design (for work). This saves me. Thanks.
4:42 for those wondering how to make it perfect select the rectangle tool and click once and type in the project dimensions then go to windows and open the align panel to align vertically and horizontally, then go to layers and click the space next to the eye to lock it
Turning the shapes into a compound mask really helped me because lately i have been trying to figure out why my clipping mask is not working when i click shift and self the image and the shape...Thank you for the quick tip
Hey Satori, first of all let me thank you for uploading this and all your videos. There is something about your content that meke things easier and are pritty much comprehencible and easy to digest that in other channels here on youtube, you just go right to the point explaining everthing accurate and smothly so i don't get overwhelmmed neither bored wich is something thta i really apriciate. Thanks for sharing, have a good one.
I like your method for the honeycomb. I probably would have made a screen with honeycomb holes, but yours is more elegant. I did not realize that boolean adding non contiguous shapes made them logically one object. I will have to play with that.
I really liked it. What I want to learn by this moment is how to create cartoons or fantasy places and I´d be happy to know if you can help me with some tricks.
The last clipping mask trick i think you can only used that for final rendering of your work because when you activated the clipping mask with both object you selected it will only combine the two and you cannot move every object you want to. Btw this tutorial is very helpful for beginners like me and i will apply it in every work im doing.
I really love the way you make tuts for having essential tips on using them , keep it up i suggest on nxt pls show us the layer make us (newbie like me) confuse 😂
Masks are the bane of my existence, and more so in Photoshop. I'm likely still going to struggle with how they work despite having watched this tutorial, but this really blew my mind. It's like my brain is in a million tiny pieces! :o.
lol rebuild it one by one :P Masks don't need to be that trick, and of course practice makes perfect. I am still stumped by some mask functions in PS though
I like this video trend you are on about teaching people the tips and tricks of illustrator... on behalf of others i congratulate you for hitting 41k...
hey man, after clipping with those hexagons , how can i possibly move each heaxagon with its clipped image part to a different place around the path, sort of like ungrouping, is that possible?
Thank you so much! I recently switched from a commerce background to designing (UX design), and I'm unaware of the tools and tricks. This really helped me in understanding the concept of masking, and how can I use it. Looking forward for such more useful videos. Already subscribed! :-D
First I would like to know if you are a teacher. Your explanation of the lesson on the three ways to use the clipping mask are outstanding, keep up the great work you are doing.
The first mask really is very useful to me. I used to create a copy of the original text to retain editablity and then outline the text to mask it where it was then not showing any text editing feature. But this way is way better
