1. SOUNDBITE (English) Sir Ian McKellen, actor:
"I don't think I look back very much. The highlight at the moment for me is turning up here at 7:30 every night, matinées on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and doing the show. I'm very, very grateful that I, to chance that I can still do it. And I'm not a fool - I don't think I, I won't be acting for much longer, so I'm not looking to be in a musical any longer or do a world tour or something any longer. I quite like living at home, in my own bed, within striking distance of the theater."
(Reporter: "But I can't imagine you stopping.")
"Can't you?"
(Reporter: "Your schedule is so packed. Don't you want to sit in the Grapes (the pub McKellen co-owns) and put your feet up and have a glass of wine?")
"No, I'm not very good putting my feet up, no."

Bless him, thank this man for providing generations with quality performances (and my childhood with LOTR)
I second that❤❤❤❤ legend
A world without McKellan acting in it seems a poorer place. A true giant of the profession, I feel blessed to have seen him perform Strindberg, Shakespeare, Chekhov and Pinter in NYC.
Despite being different acting styles, my hope is that Dafoe continues to age like fine wine and keeps pushing the "art" of acting.
This man is a legend and a very good person i wish him nothing but happiness for the rest of his days
It's sad how old we get so fast. Lord of the Rings introduced me to this actor I kept him in high esteem for his work. Sadly we all have to live to die at some point.
I wish we were Elves, huh?
that's the gift of mortals, to appreciate life each day. treasuring those around you while you are around them
@@zwicky1818It's kind of a shitty gift.
They're going to figure out longevity eventually. Maybe not next year, but definitely by 2100, people will have indefinite lifespans. That will be an interesting change for humanity.
one of my most favorite heroes (Gandalf) and villains (Magneto) of my childhood and youth. Long life to you, Legend.
We love you Sir Ian, so very very much ❤
A rare celebrity I find genuinely wholesome
"I quite like living at home in my own bed" there's such beauty listening this from a 84 years old gentleman ❤
gandalf the gay 😂
@@eddieworkman5855 okay
@@JUNTOSCOMCERTEZA You do know he's "gay'" right? There is nothing wrong with being gay, everyone can be gay or black and should be celebrated whoemever you are. We are al equal.
@@thomasov2004 Yeah but not in any way he even said something about it, not on his reply and not on his original comment. Seems awfully weird to comment about a person's sexual orientation so out of left field without ANY reason to do so. Sir Ian being gay or not isn't relevant to the original comment and, frankly, it does not matter. Also: no, not "everyone" can be black. Being black is a caracteristic you are born with, not something you acquire later in life.
People like you are so obssesed with labels and cute little boxes to help define and constrain and categorize every simple thing in this world that it makes even harder to celebrate the fact that people are just that: people. Stop pointing at differences, specially out of context, and let them be what they are in peace.
You sir I wish you live a long life, and thanks for all the great memories❤
THIS MAN'S SOUL IS WORTH MILLIONS. SO MUCH BEAUTY AND WISDOM IN THAT BRAIN.
Total legend
I'm so lucky to have been able to see him first row play in the Mother goose show last year, for the first time, and I'm flying again to see him in Player Kings next month. Grabbing all the chances I can get before he retires.
Reasonable, rational...legendary.
“The grapes” is a pub he part owns in east London. Gandalf’s staff is hanging in there behind the bar.
Wow, I miss him already.
gandalf the gay 😂
@@eddieworkman5855 Eddie The Fool
@ordinarryalien lol im not a poof tho
@@eddieworkman5855 I'm sure you're not a "poof".
@eddie etc -Your brain and character cant compare, gay or straight, so I dont know what youre laughing at. Your inability to discern?😂
Take care Sir Ian ❤
Oh no please act. We love you so much ❤
Is any young actor coming up today even 20% as good as Sir Ian? I feel like acting is first and foremost a craft for him. A true artist.
Legend. ♥
Magneto and my childhood LORD OF THE RING!
Love u
Magneto 😎
He is a vigorous man and at this age, in this health, people go suddenly. I hope he has at least until he's 90 in him.
🕊️
This man introduced me to shakespeare!
😢

I miss Gandalf.
I was hoping he will be in Power of Ring season 2 as Gandalf
as gandalf the gay 😂
@@eddieworkman5855 doesn't matter if his gay, his a good actor thou..
@@eddieworkman5855 bruh...desperate for attention much? You've written that same shit 3-4 times over here. Like we get it, your mother dropped you on your head as a baby. Poor bastard never grew up.
Legandary actor
