  • E Type Jaguar Series 2, Best of British Driven. This week on Motorflix we go back to 1968 and drive a Series 2 E-Type Jaguar. This E-Type Jaguar is for sale at Bam Specialist Cars in Derbyshire and could be all yours, head over to their website to find out more details.
It has been a life long dream to drive an E-Type Jaguar of any description, so be able to drive this exceptional example was a real treat. Arguably some of the coolest people dead and alive have owned one of these extremely special cars. There is always the fear that imagining something is always going to surpass the reality, but in this case the old Jag did not disappoint.
Next week we are in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage, so make sure you like and subscribe so you do not miss weekly content.

a lot of the so-called reliability issues were down to us car mechanics not understanding them.
don't forget of the 72,500 ish made 50.500 ish ended up in the USA.
fit electronic ignition, an electronic fan for the radiator look after her and they are as good as gold

The E-Type S2 RHD is in fact the rarest E-type of them all, only 775 were made. The vast majority went to the USA,

Nice E Type! I have one myself--an early PPR '69 OTS with no rust and its original paint/interior in nice shape. Love driving it in sunny weather with the top down--nothing like it!

Choke is on the entire drive…..or is it just a bit sensible - hard to say. the Enzo reference is so overused it hurts. Anyway nice car, cheers!

As I said a year ago, a nice car! However, in watching the video again I have noticed that it is missing its headrests! They added a nice touch of luxury to the interior, and their steel reinforcement also made them a welcome safety feature. Pity that so many people in Britain think that by making things "more like a Series 1", that they are somehow making the Series II "more desirable". Wrong! All they are doing is create a loose end that a future owner will need to rectify, given that ORIGINALITY is king when it comes to classic car values.

I think that the Series 1 E-type is the best looking version but I do like the larger displacement 4.2 liter engine and the better gearbox in the ones made later in 1965 through 1967. If I had a Series 2, I would do my best to convert it back to a Series 1.
