Back in the sixties/early seventies a friend bought a 3.8 e type which he later swapped for a 4.2, I was lucky enough to have a drive of both. A dealer that we used to drive for asked us to deliver a 5.3 v12 to Preston so aged 22 I’d driven all three. Compared to Morris Minors, Ford Anglias etc it was like being in the Starship Enterprise. I’ve always considered myself to have been extremely fortunate to have those opportunities.

My ex brother inlaw had a Lotus Carlton i drove a couple of times was the fastest saloon at the time i think a twin turbo only came in a metalic olive green if i remember it could do around 200 mph,it had a proper stiff clutch i stalled it first attempt, back tyres were huge,i'm 63 driven Anglia off road as a teen too my dad let me,Hillman Imps and Triamph herald days

I can never forget an acquaintance in the early 70’s turning up in an E Type and taking me out for a spin…. That bonnet stretching out forever in front of us and performance that was interstellar in comparison to anything else at the time… a memory that has stuck with me ever since, just an achingly beautiful car 👍

All in the name of safety, not necessarily the drivers but the person you may hit.

I shall never forget nearing home from a holiday in Scotland in ' 61 , a long, tiring and arduous 350 mile journey when we were overtaken by a British racing green E-Type .My dad looked round at me and said , "there's one of those new Jags ".The first time I'd ever seen such an incredibly stylish car as if from another planet, I can still recall that sense of wonderment and remember exactly where it was . Many years later , helped a now late friend rewire a 2+2 model and being allowed to take the wheel .There is no question the car deserves its place in history as truly affordable excellence in automotive engineering.

what a car what a film loved this like the watches too! my Dad had the same yellow Etype in 67 with a matching speed boat . cant remember the version! but i remember the car .
I love classics when someone else owns and pays for them - me i like modern cars - everything works , no oil smells , no leaks and heated seats, no lay-by calling recovery trucks !

That film took me back to my childhood when our neighbour who owned the local garage had an E Type which with that and his Lotus Cortina that I passed on my way to school probably sparked my interest in cars which has remained to this day. In my opinion one of the most iconic cars of my generation.

Most memorable car i had was an ALFA 75 2.5 but the Auto sadley the Twin Spark V6 was a loverly sounding thing it burbled, rust got the back wheel arches in under 3 years, that's old Alfa's for ya!

Never had a Car and road suited each other more. I always think when driving through the like in North Yorkshire through the picturesque villages that a classic Car just would be brilliant. One of my favourite routes is from Sutton bank to Scarborough because we did it when I was young with my Mum and Dad on holiday from Scotland. Even driving thirty odd years now I still get goosebumps driving whatever my current car is at the time on that road as it brings back memories, but always promised myself if ever a I had a classic I’d do it. Brilliant the Car here has been with the owner twenty years, the type of car you pass and it gives you a smile.

I had the honour and privilege of access to drive a v12 EType coupe in our family and it was as nerve-wracking as wonderful to drive. The bonnet goes on forever but the torque is so good you hardly move above a couple of thousand revs. I drove it to my work for a charity event and was very glad to return it safely to its owner. What a nice video to watch, reminded me of that last drive a few years ago now. The Etype is a true classic and icon. (Plus no charging issues sith Teslas lol- joke😁)

@@PetrolPed Just an aside Ped, you may recall my Nardo Grey RSQ3 which was featured on your site during first lockdown when we all blogged our cars. Well she has now gone, couldn't resist as was offered more than I paid for a near 2 year old car but with less than 5000 miles. Just collected a black Alpine A110 which is much more practical.....not, but what a hoot to drive. Booked in for PPF later this month then GTG. Taking her to Cornwall from Wakefield in June with 2 dogs in tow as well as myself and the General. For me a pair of speedos and a t shirt is all I will get in, the rest is for the General and the mutts. That would be some blog lol. Happy days. keep up the good work.

I also remember a dark blue one being driven rather gingerly by a somewhat “emotional” George Brown which I and other drivers had to keep well clear of as he meandered through the traffic! Hi Ped
Best of luck to Andy & Quentin in new business venture, entering a very competitive market indeed. Credit to Andy the condition of the E Type VGC, have to say 2 plus 2 not my favourite model. My first drive in an E Type roadster dates back to 1966, when a very good friend allowed my to drive his new car, only 3 weeks old. It nearly ended in disaster when an elderly gent pulled out of a side road, without stoping or looking. I did miss him but it did show up the deficiencies in braking of the early cars😲
