    I can't wait to make this. However, I found it a little odd that you would show the sewing of the long strap, and only give verbal directions on adding the hardware. I'm still pretty new to bag making and would benefit from seeing how the strap comes together rather than watching someone sew in a straight line. Thank you!

    My fanny pack is really cute. It would have been helpful in the directions on the strap to give a length in inches for the finished strap with the fanny pack attached. I didn't think of this before I finished the medium size and the smallest it could be is 39" which fell off of me, so I had to cut off several inches so it would fit me.

    i am more of a visual learner and this tutorial was easy to follow (if you're making the small bag) but the written instructions along with the video tutorial didn't make sense. my back piece didn't match up with my front piece. then i realized that there was piece A (this pattern piece was with the test square and the small pattern pieces) that needed to be added to the the back panel to match up with the front main panel somewhat. the written instructions didn't include what to do with this piece, unless i missed it somewhere,...and in the video tutorial, there wasn't any mention of this. granted i made the large ferris pack, and the video is for the small. i think it would be a good idea to mention the additional steps for the large bag well as adjusting the written instructions to include that additional piece and step. i was a bit lost with the written instructions.

    Watching this video the stabilizer looks like Pellon SF 101 interfacing, not fusible fleece. Please let me know which it is.

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  8 місяців тому

      Hi Mickie, you are correct, the Pellon SF101, being shown on the lite cork fabric in the tutorial. You may certainly choose either SF101 or fusible fleece. We often use the fusible fleece with quilt cottons, linen, and even our faux waxed canvas for softer support. The SF101 works well if you prefer a flatter appearance to the finished project. Thanks for watching and happy sewing!

    When you come to the part that says, Assemble the bag, the back does not fit the front because the extension tabs are not on the back only the front. I had to add them and cut to fit. Same problem with the lining piece.

    I like when the pattern or video also tells us which way the zippers should pull, left to right or left to right. I notice the pattern pics, they zip to the right to open, but the video shows the opposite, to the left is open. Just make sure they are the same! I'm curious as to why the strap is going to have raw edges exposed there in the middle. I guess I'm used to folding them in to meet in the center, then fold in half, THEN stitch 1/8' from both edges.

    • @SallieTomato
      @SallieTomato  Рік тому

      Thank you for commenting and sharing your feedback. We like to leave the direction of the zipper up to personal preference so it is easier for a left handed person to pull left and a right handed person to pull to the right. Also, for the way the strap is made the edges are folded in and then folded in half and then stitched down so they are not exposed and won't fray when using cotton or canvas. I hope you found this explanation helpful. If you have any further questions or comments, please email us directly at: info@sallietomato.com

    I've made the large bag five times, with the same problem each time. I've checked and double checked to ensure I've cut the pattern pieces correctly. I've ensured that I use the correct seam allowances by drawing lines on the fabric to follow. However, there seems to be a problem with Panel E--it is much larger than the Panel C pieces that E is attached to. Is there a correction for this pattern? If not, suggestion(s)?

      Hi Louisa,
      Thanks for asking your question. When I made a Ferris bag, I overlapped the zipper coils a little bit, so the width of the zipper would 'equal' or have the same width measurement as the zipper when its closed. Let us know if this helps!

    I have made 2 small and 1 medium size. None of the pieces line up like shown. I really don’t like how the lining get attached to the front panel. It leaves you with a hard to close opening. It has to be sewn by hand unless I’m not following the directions correct.

    I’m in the middle of making the medium size and some of the pattern pieces are too big, or not big enough. The large lining piece is about 3/8 in too big on the sides and bottom and piece B is 1/4 inch wider than the top of piece A. I double checked the test square on the printout and it’s spot on, and I also checked the pieces I had to measure and cut and I made those to the specified size. The bag pattern looks good,but there seem to be a lot of inaccuracies with it. Some help would be appreciated please.

      @@SallieTomato Thankyou for replying, but I’m afraid I’m unimpressed. Patterns need to be error-checked by testers and made bomb-proof before they’re released and not, as this seems to be, sold to the public for them to report errors which then get added to a massive corrections sheet. I’ll not be buying any more of your patterns.
