    This was really helpful for me, but you left out a few steps.
    1. When routing the cable under the dash make sure and say f&&k a min of 10 times and dagnabit Ford - 3 times otherwise the cable will not go through properly.
    2. When unplugging the harness under the steering wheel plan to scrape at min 4 inches of skin off your knuckle. If this isn’t done the install will not be considered complete to spec.
    Thanks for making this!

    I dig it but no way I'm drilling holes - I'd stick it hidden underneath the dash where you can reach it by touch.

    • @NateGrede
      @NateGrede Рік тому

      @@ChaseGentry Im referring to the lower smaller hole. I understand the center pilot was to prevent bit walk when drilling the larger hole. Looking at the template more I see the smaller hole extends outside of the larger hole a bit and the snap down cover must orient itself with this small divot. So, if you wanted to install the cover and knob upside down (which I've seen other Bronco owners do) just flip the template. That way, in the driver's seat looking down on the control knob, the lettering is oriented right side up.

    When you have the brake controller all the way as low as it goes does the 0 align at the dead top center of the unit and 10 if it's all the way up? I had it installed by my Ford dealership on a 2022 Ranger and the 0 is not on top when it's all the way to the left, nor is the 10 at the top when it's all the way to the right so I'm not sure if they installed it correctly

    • @ChaseGentry

    What made you decide to mount the knob on the center console and the box behind the glove box?

    • @ChaseGentry
      @ChaseGentry  2 роки тому +2

      That box is inertia sensing so it needs to be hard mounted on something that’s body mounted. Also the knob right under your hands natural resting position is ideal to make brake adjustments. Last reason both Redarc and Ford have the kit setup for those locations too.

    Thanks for the great video! I have a couple of questions:
    1. I’m having my dealer remove the towing capability option from my 2022 Bronco order and will install my own receiver and 4-wire kit. If I later want to add this brake controller, will I still have the same wiring harness there under the dash, right of the accelerator, to connect into?
    2. I’m sure tastes and opinions will vary, but with the window switches being “upside down” so they appear right-side up when the driver of passenger looks down at them, was there any particular reason you didn’t flip the brake control switch to be oriented consistently with those?
    Thanks!

    • @ChaseGentry
      @ChaseGentry  2 роки тому

      Your removing the factory receiver and removing the 4 & 7 pin plugs? Why? I’d leave that there and if your bronco comes equipped with factory towing pack it’ll be wired for controller under dash. As far as switch since it’s a rotation to me I prefer it right side up

      @@ChaseGentry Like a lot of people, I reserved in July 2020, ordered a MY2021 as soon as I could, then had to convert my order to a MY2022, and have grown tired of waiting. The dealer has told me for months that if I remove the tow package, it will probably speed things up. He told me their dealership could install the hitch and wiring as a dealer-installed option, but it would be about $1200 after tax. I told him I would keep holding out and hoping Ford would fix the supply chain issues to have the factory kit and not spend an extra $600 having them do it. Then I saw that the tow package didn't include the brake controller anyway, and I could get the Curt hitch receiver (www.curtmfg.com/part/13493 or www.roughcountry.com/receiver-hitch-51062.html?find=2022-ford-bronco-4wd-856075) and a 4-pole wiring harness (www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Ford/Bronco/2022/TK99VR.html?VehicleID=20226004632 -- all I need for now) for well under $300 after tax & shipping. I figure if I ever do need a brake controller, I can install one like you did, and update to a 7- and 4-pole connector (with something like www.carid.com/hopkins/multi-tow-7-rv-blade-and-4-wire-flat-towing-wiring-kit-mpn-11141144.html or www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Wiring/CURT/C57672.html), even if that means running a few extra wires myself (although I suspect that the wiring harness you connected into is the one for the brake light wiring and likely contains all of the other wires by default). So, last week I had my dealer remove the tow package, and he was right. The next day, I logged in and saw production had been scheduled for mid-June -- without the tow capability option.

      @@ChaseGentry aren’t you a Ford ambassador? I know they hand you whatever to advertise, but they should really inform you about the real-world stuff customers are going through. @@GetOutSmore i can assure im more informed than you can imagine as I’ve seen a lot of the inner workings from many angles nor am i handed “whatever to advertise”. I truly have empathy for everyone that’s involved and early order holders still eager waiting. There’s major obstacles when completely designing, engineering, manufacturing, distributing, a brand new anything into the market let alone during an foreseeable global pandemic. I own a small business personally and little ol me have literally still struggled getting people to work, get materials, stay politically correct, etc so imagine the speed bumps a global brand like Ford has had to overcome when normal practices and procedures have literally been shut down or had been for over a year right in the actual middle of a new vehicle launch that had 150k sold orders literally instantly. The demand was/ has been way higher that anticipated and rightfully so the bronco is a home run in all areas. These are crazy times we live in and i can assure a brand like ford does not want anyones order changed, canceled, or not sitting in customers driveways. That’s just bad business obviously. Again there are parts, components, etc that come from literally all over the place, some built in house some are not. Unfortunately not all manufacturers are as big as ford and could not handle the pandemic or catch back up after closures. Whereas 3 years ago normal turnaround for a sold order anything was 30 days i know this because i ordered inventory for dealerships for almost 10 years. Now across the board with all manufacturers its average of 6 months for vehicles that have been around for a while. It’s gunna take a hot minute for things to realign and supply catches back up to demand. Sorry you had to drop your tow pack. Also you’ll can still use the redarc tow pro btw

      @@ChaseGentry I’m not mad at Ford. I get it. There are bigger problems in the world. I’m saying this is the reality in ordering a new Bronco so that’s literally the only reason we are all dropping the tow package and doing it all ourselves. You asked why. Not because we want to. Looking for solutions. Not excuses. Lol I do get it. The reason for the supply chain issues and all. Trying to get brake control for my trailer with brakes with only an aftermarket 4 pin so far.
