1:54:43 this is a subtle explanation to the Department of abnormalities. While the foundation does contain all kinds of Anomalies, abnormalities are monsterous things that pretty much completely defy the meaning of normalcy as we know it, things that are so dangerous not only to humanity, but to the sanity of man kind. Things that basically, should never be allowed to see the light of day, no matter what. No wonder they found the crown and locked it up.

Jesus mother of God, a 2 hour video from the exploring series about a scp from djkaktus. I am absolutely short of any analogy to express my excitement but here we go
Every time DJKaktus writes a new novel length SCP, I'm reminded why this community is the best. On the discus page, he said it took a year to complete, along with the others who helped review. I believe that. His quality is like no other. I appreciate whenever you cover stories like this, too. It makes it much easier to understand, especially when they're this complex and long. Nice stuff. It's good to listen to on my commutes to and from work.
Timelapste of my reactions : -Yeaw a new exploring serie - IDK this SCP great - OMG 2 HOURS ? Snack time ... - PART 1 ??? Is this an ouroboros situation ?
I heard the name "Javier" and I'm like "Les Miserables" so is he a "righteous hypocrite"? And then the story acknowledges the name origin and I'm like. "Welp, wasn't expecting the reference to be that direct." "Righteous hypocrite" in case you're wondering is an archetype in Victor Hugo's work. He's the one who wrote Les Miserables and "Hunchback of Notre Dame". It means one who's legally or culturally empowered to be a moral authority, but who lacks the personal morality to fully live the position. In the case of Javier, the letter of the law but not the spirit. In Les Miserables, Javier enforces the law but passes moral judgement on Jean Valjean, viewing him with contempt not compassion. He doesn't leave ultimate judgement of Valjean's crimes to a judge or to God and refuses to acknowledge the circumstances that brought Valjean there. Valjean meanwhile has never committed a crime that wasn't for survival of himself or another and otherwise lives a lawful and just life. In the end, Javier commits suicide out of his own pride. Valjean saved him from certain death, and unable to handle being beholden to Valjean for his life Javier ultimately commits the sin of suicide.
Javert was a complex villain. He was self righteous but was not a hypocrite at all, he was a zealot. He didnt break his own rules but truly believed in the letter of the law. He was like someone with OCPD (not OCD) in that he was obsessed with order, followed rules no matter what and perfectionistic at his work. He had been born in prison to a criminal mother, and had worked hard to not wind up like her. His suicide was not because of pride but because Valjrans mercy shattered his worldview causing the ontological collapse of his moral universe. The letter of the law was in conflict with the spirit of the law. His inner crisis was the moral quandary that left him in. He must honor his conscience to let Valjean go because he is truly good, to do otherwise would be unacceptable. But in doing so he betrays the law (his only source of structure and guidance in life), and society, which is just as unacceptable to him. So had a psychiatric break. Basically his Lawful Good algorithm broke. 😉 Textual clues from the book and the musical: "to betray society in order to be true to his own conscience. That all these absurdities...should accumulate on himself, this is what prostrated him" (book 4 of Valjean, Les Miserable) "I am reaching but I fall, and the stars are black and cold as I stare into the void of a world that cannot hold. I'll escape now from this world, from the world of Jean Valjean. There is nowhere I can turn, there is no way to go onnnn...[splash]" (from Javerts Suicide, in the Broadway musical)
Oh yes, oh good lord yes, love your long videos. And I love the 4 demons of the sky kings stories. ETA: I wish the 1000 instance was named Slartibartfast. Idk why, it just popped into my head.

I would love to someday see an Exploring Series on the Marathon trilogy by Bungie. The games start out with layers and meaning, and by the end are just a multi layered treatise on the nature of divinity, the player, and everything in between.
@@michaelandreipalon359 I also recommend The Examined Life Of Gaming who comes to a totally different conclusion about the story. That the series has two (and more) coherent but utterly different interpretations is fantastic.

"wrath, you prescribed to me, man's Inherint hatred, very well, I shall acquiesce, you will have my wrath insect, until nothing of me remains" is such a visceral line and it amazes me it came from a online horror wiki

What I love about this entry in the verse is that it makes the Children of the Night less cartoonishly evil abominations than the previous entry, and more overtaken by a malign presence but still capable of good despite their origin
I spent so much time scrolling through comments on several of mangs videos and nobody has anything negative to say which is exactly how it should be keep it up exploring series you are filling the scp community with more inquisitive and kind people by creating thoughtful and amazingly written summaries of our favorite scps
I'm betting Calvin is hoping by finding out more about the true history of the floating city, the four knights, the Three Profains, and Titania's prison, he can find out more about the true administrator and take him down without the risk. He probably also thinks the administrator is somehow connected to the Department of Adnormalities.
I think it would be amazing to see a map of the time line and all the locations and see the kingdoms fall in territories change while you read the documents Watching an entire map change their each paragraph you get Sarah would just be an amazing experience
It is interesting seeing the Daevites in a positive light. In general, the Kaktusverse really does follow in the style of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring by Fromsoftware. It is interesting to see the Daeva, the Sky Kingdom, the Fae, and the Children of Night all portrayed not as "the good guy" or the "bad guy", just people trying to live their life.
I personally love the Kaktusverse as there is so much lore and and wealth of information woven into the stories. The curse plays on this desire by making it to where she still can't have her own children, nor is she even herself anymore. Just a creature that makes others have abomination children in some twisted ass genie wish.
I dunno, I'll re listen to La Hire's story to retain my bearings.
Edit: Nah, is a he. Though I will think the whole twist thing is viable as there's no mention of him having any children; And, the fey are vindictive little things.
The exploring series drops a new video: Hype!
Sees it's another scp video: ayy
Sees it's from the kaktusverse: ayyyyyyy
Sees it's of one of the great nights: ayyyyyyyyyyyy
Sees it's 2 hours: NO WAY LETS GO!!
You hear "Part 1": *incomprehensible excitement*
Series 1: 15 minute video explaining everything and all appearances in tales.
Series 7: 2 hour video. Backstory and how it affects what we know of the universe. Part 1.
Idk if that "Luck" series (Series 8) can continue that lol
Love TES but it feels like he pads his videos out by reading stuff out verbatim

I’ve kept up with Paragon since 4812 and I’m so happy this is finally here. It’s been so long old friend. Thank you.
We’ve been waiting over a year for Ogire. Paragon top level SCP only under the true lord and savior Mekhane of course
DJ Kacktus is one of my favorite SCP authors. Incredible writer
Kaktusverse has to be my favorite canon on the entire wiki. This is the first time I have hit the like button before even watching the video.
Mine too. This canon is so rich on lore and beautiful imagery that enhances the material. Not to mention that it has to be the most world building out of all other canons!
OMG! YES! Finally, another chapter of this AWESOME series of SCPs. As other have said here, DjKaktus has some real talent and I'd definitely pay for anything he wrote, if someday he decides to go full commitment with this and publish a full book (or even a full series, a man can dream 😙)
That's the problem with open-source. He publishes a book of open-source material, and anyone can just copy it practically word for word and sell it under better marketing and an army of ads he couldn't afford.
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Or, at the very least, there is nothing to confirm it, since there’s very little concrete… ANYTHING surrounding the Department of Abnormalities.

Djkaktus, the writer of this and SCP-3790 (The department of abnormalities, where they originally appeared) states that within the Paragon canon that this is the department's goal and cause.
For the last few years, every time autumn approaches I get back into SCP.
Ever since your videos for Wrath and Demon Lancelot came out, I've been waiting for more explanation of those stories. Now this is the perfect video to go back down the rabbit hole
Check out the one from the department of abnormalities
oh yeah I kind of enjoy scp in bursts of a few weeks or maybe months. it's some fascinating variety of horror and sometimes fantasy or scifi or other, but I guess I just can't sustain my interest regularly
Holy crap this looks and sounds like the greatest SCP ever.
Inevitable, ouroborous cycle
I personally lean towards SCP-6624 as that. It has everything: an anomalous object of powerful evil, a gripping detective tale of its discovery, eldritch and psychological horror behind its creation, and a Resident Evil Style A-plot concerning the Foundation...
@@whiskeySe7en DJ Kaktusverse each story can be compete each other for being the best and greatest SCP ever lol
Did u guys ever see the one when Dr kondracki is trying to assassinate the vampire duke guy?? I hope exploring series has a version. I just saw it 4he other day on scp explained or um I think that was it idk but he throws catpiss n garlic on him and he rampages thru the site but at one point Dr k has the wire around 682s neck and rides it and like clef is pissed off about losing 5 grand and the other guy got to write his will cuz he said Dr k was a mad man. I nvr ever seen one like it. It was awesome.. I hope exploring series does it it was friggin awesome 😎😅😅😅😅
And thus, an echoing sound was heard; not one of reverence for a certain plant usually found in arid climate; but of the man, who named himself in their image.... and of he, who brought his work to the world of hearing!
Every sunday I count on the videos. I have severe insomnia and your SCP readings are some sort of sedative to me. I have been a tremendous fan of your work for many years. Oh, now that's a bit more tedious than I thought.
I initially read the title as "The Demon Ogler", and thought this was going to be a very different kind of story...
YES! I've been so curious to learn what happened to Ogier the Faithful! Thanks so much for covering these amazing SCP stories!
I'm already imagining Javert as this adorable massive character that you see in some cartoons. They wave, they blink, they imbue positive vibes.

Me seeing the new SCP is 2 hours, a part 1, and. DJKactus SCP:
My hype is immeasurable and my day is brightened.
im wondering at this point is if djkaktus is actually a secret best selling author and does this as practice
So, this'll foreshadow Part 2 of this vid?
@@michaelandreipalon359 dunno.
Textual clues from the book and the musical:
"to betray society in order to be true to his own conscience. That all these absurdities...should accumulate on himself, this is what prostrated him" (book 4 of Valjean, Les Miserable)
"I am reaching but I fall, and the stars are black and cold as I stare into the void of a world that cannot hold.
I'll escape now from this world, from the world of Jean Valjean. There is nowhere I can turn, there is no way to go onnnn...[splash]"
(from Javerts Suicide, in the Broadway musical)

I would love to someday see an Exploring Series on the Marathon trilogy by Bungie. The games start out with layers and meaning, and by the end are just a multi layered treatise on the nature of divinity, the player, and everything in between.
After checking out MandaloreGaming's take on it, this should be really, really interesting.
@@michaelandreipalon359 I also recommend The Examined Life Of Gaming who comes to a totally different conclusion about the story. That the series has two (and more) coherent but utterly different interpretations is fantastic.
Ah, OK then.

I love this interpretation of the Daevites as so much more than just a scary, evil blood cult. In this, they feel noble, grand and truly ancient. Like they truly embody the old ways, in every sense good and bad.
