Battlefield 2025 has had its Battle Royale confirmed by Insider Gaming. The new Battlefield will have a free to play BR supported by Ripple Effect & Vince Zampell..
i dont really care bout BR titles...but having a free to play battlefield lets me try the game and see how it does before buying it. so heck yeah, give the BR crowd what they need!
I've been saying this for years, especially after they bottled Firestorm. A well made free to play BR made by Battlefield would absolutely dominate the FPS genre. I think it could easliy dethrone Warzone in it's current state. Think about it. A Battlefield BR in a gritty modern setting, classes, destruction, vehicle combat, huge sandbox environment, etc. It's the perfect recipe for potentially the best BR ever made. If Ripple Effect nails the excecution, then Battlefield is onto a winner.
Unpopular opinion but I think a lot of people love battlefield because it’s battlefield not a battle royal game. They just want to bring in a new audience and this decision might turn out very bad for them.

Damn, I hadn't thought about the possibility of having classes in BR. It could be interesting to "force" each person of a squad choose a class before the match starts.

Yeah this news really lowered my hype. Battle Royale literally goes against everything battlefield stands for. No teams, on your own using random weapons. Plus battle Royale just invites stupid looking skins which kill immersion.
I agree with your point on finding the balance with the pacing of a Battle Royale, but I would also say that the design intent of "slow or sparse player to player interactions" is not for it to be boring and uneventful, it's to create tension for the moments when you do see/engage with another player. I think Battlefield is positioned perfectly to find a balance between PUBG and Warzone, being almost bang in the middle. That's exciting to me and not necessarily for the big "battlefield moments" we've come to expect and love from classic BF, but for something more tactical and strategic than warzone, as well as, something more polished and orthogonal than pubg. Great video, really excited to see what BF shows off soon and I hope they don't try to "capture the warzone audience" with their BR, but make something of their own that's unique and special. I think if they can stay in their lane and do what they think is right, rather than what they think they need to do to convert warzone/pubg users, we'll get exactly what we're hoping for
Two thoughts; One, I hope the micro-destruction doesn't turn the game into an M240B-only game, just BLASTING any structure hoping to hit someone inside. And two, I really dislike the loadouts in Warzone. I think finding stuff and scraping by with what you can scavenge is way more interesting than just rushing to the buy station and picking up your most favored meta gun. I think Firestorm was actually great, so I hope they just expand on that. Hell, I'd even love to see like "Firestorm Weekends" every now and then where they bring back Firestorm with progression that carries over into the 2025 game or something. BRs get stagnant because the meta gets solved and the map stays the same for months. Just need quicker iteration on both.
It's not like BR is a new thing but there are definitely new ideas they can bring. Warzone has completely lost its way with ridiculous characters and skins and has no rivals, so if Battlefield can deliver a military-focused, serious BR with a great map (or several) and proper anti-cheat it will be a big success. Warzone fatigue is a real thing. The competition will only force Warzone to get their act together so it's good for everyone. It wouldn't surprise me if Delta Force released a BR at some point too... I think they can all smell blood in the water with Warzone, especially when you see the absolute mess of the Warzone World Series - That is a badly run company taking its eye off the ball. They've had things their own way for too long.
Tbh, It’s good that they have a dedicated studio for BR only, but I still hope it flops massively; BR mode is not Battlefield; the only reason they are reintroducing it is because of Warzone’s success. Let Warzone be Warzone, and those who want to play BR can play that, or any other BR title that’s already on the market. Battlefield should focus on its successful predecessors. Making a game for everyone might lead to making it for no one. Please just stick to OG Battlefield.
Here’s what we need out of the next game. BF3 Maps and battle sounds, BF4 gun and camo quantity, BF1 grit, BFV movement, gun play, score streaks and fortifications, and 2042 Plus system. (The only good thing 2042 did. lol)
BR ain't for me. I'm there for the true Battlefield experience which BR isn't. Supply, kill, die, respawn and go again the BF3/BF4 way .Fingers crossed ✝️ 😊
Pleaseeeeeeee!!!! don't force mouse players to play against aimbot controller players. They can play against each other and we can play against each other, easy, everybody happy
Give me PUBG Battlefield and I’ll be happy. I don’t agree that the PUBG mid game is lackluster and boring. I like the pacing of PUBG and having some time to “breath” between engagements. Sometimes, it’s an opportunity to re-group, and if you’re bringing a squad mate back, it’s a chance for them to get properly kitted again. I also like that I can have a genuine conversation with someone at those points where the battle slows down a bit. Time to talk about strategy and positioning. Occasionally, that’s interrupted by an unexpected fight, or some other influence (finding a key to better loot) that’s always fun to deal with. PUBG is still one of the most played games on Steam nearly 8 years after release. It’s simple and does one thing very well… that’s what makes it great. I do wish they would remove the Korean highlighter colors that have detracted from its more hardcore nature. Speaking of hardcore, I would love to see a dedicated hardcore BR mode, similar to multiplayer. That could be a real opportunity to go after the PUBG loyalists (yes, many of us exist). I’ve always said that Warzone should do that, but it’s COD, so 🤮 I really hope they get this right. An intense, action filled, strategic, and fun BR with some Battlefield magic could be awesome!

Nah, no battle royale. I think it makes sense in the Battlefield framework, but as we've seen with Apex Legends and Warzone, when they focus on the BR the core game dies. I'm much more interested in a big BF3-4 type of experience vs seeing it die because of the focus on the BR.
I’m all for a BR but free to play? It’s a huge mistake. Sure it will have players but like COD it’ll just be full of cheaters. Another problem with this business type is pay to win. I’d love to find a game like World of Warcraft’s subscription model where if you cheat there’s something to loose and you can have better servers as your paying for a service. Free to play they justify micro transactions, pay to win, cheaters( because they add to player count), and sub par servers because why are you complaining it’s free.
BRs are the most successful titles globally. Extraction shooters haven't had the same success yet and arguably tarkov is the only one that's gotten close to mainstream
@TheTacticalBrit it's because they are free, not because the market is begging for BR. If Traditional MP was free and BR was paid content the role would be reversed as far as 'most played'.
Yay...not. But well if it brings more people to the game is ok I guess. I want Battlefield, couldn't care less for BR...just hope they make a good base game and don't waste a lot of resources in a battle royale no one is going to play behind a paywall as they did with Firestorm.
I mean they already released a battle royale in Firestorm and it bombed massively, not getting my hopes up. It seems like most games that are released these days are incomplete and full of bugs and cheaters. But the shop miraculously works perfectly
Get servers and hit reg down to a tee? what game are you playing... thats certainly not any of the BF games strong points. getting shot behind a wall is par for the course in BF games.
if its not free its dead on arrival. why would anyone play BF BR when there are world class BR's like Fortnite, Warzone, Apex, and even PUBG? These corporate heads need to get with the times. why would i pay money for a game mode that is most likely going to be mediocre (based on BFV Firestorm) when I can play top tier BR's for free?
They literally said it will be free; they’re not making the same mistake again. On the other hand, I have to agree with you on the fact that there are many tested BRs on the market, with passionate player base. There is, however, a question of why would anyone want to switch over to Battlefield’s BR.
There’s one BR for every 10 arena shooters. Multiplayer is what is overdone and boring. No teamwork, no communication, nothing more than just shooting at things. BR is far more engaging and purposeful in its gameplay.

Who is still asking for a Battle Royale game? No like seriously.... who?
Its the most played format of fps
@TheTacticalBrit it's because they are free, not because the market is begging for BR. If Traditional MP was free and BR was paid content the role would be reversed as far as 'most played'.
Yay...not. But well if it brings more people to the game is ok I guess. I want Battlefield, couldn't care less for BR...just hope they make a good base game and don't waste a lot of resources in a battle royale no one is going to play behind a paywall as they did with Firestorm.
Battle Royale has nothing new to offer , how about an additional extraction looter mode that can compete with Delta Force.
Let’s gooooooooooooo
Squad royale
Br will ruin battlefield like its ruined cod
Everglades map anyone??
I mean they already released a battle royale in Firestorm and it bombed massively, not getting my hopes up. It seems like most games that are released these days are incomplete and full of bugs and cheaters. But the shop miraculously works perfectly
Get servers and hit reg down to a tee? what game are you playing... thats certainly not any of the BF games strong points. getting shot behind a wall is par for the course in BF games.
Yayyyyy…no thanks 😂
I think EA's gonna do as they do best, and destroy another IP.
I'm ready to dump war zone
Say Battle
Battel
BR? I am out
I’ll gladly take your spot. Thanks. This is incredible news!
@@Scotty2Shotty Good for you. Now I will sleep better. Some of us are not children.
Oh no..
nobody plays the current royale mode it sucks
if its not free its dead on arrival. why would anyone play BF BR when there are world class BR's like Fortnite, Warzone, Apex, and even PUBG? These corporate heads need to get with the times. why would i pay money for a game mode that is most likely going to be mediocre (based on BFV Firestorm) when I can play top tier BR's for free?
They literally said it will be free; they’re not making the same mistake again. On the other hand, I have to agree with you on the fact that there are many tested BRs on the market, with passionate player base. There is, however, a question of why would anyone want to switch over to Battlefield’s BR.
Meh BR.
Why? Bottle royal is lame
They are out of touch.
Extraction genre is kind of game that gets people excited about. Why BR?
extraction genre has been nowhere near as successful though
Completely over BR modes! Add it to the 1,456,736 others. Yawn. Give us something new.
There’s one BR for every 10 arena shooters. Multiplayer is what is overdone and boring. No teamwork, no communication, nothing more than just shooting at things. BR is far more engaging and purposeful in its gameplay.
@@tomgillotticringe elitist
@@tomgillotti BF is not an arena shooter.
@@nossy232323 it’s a generalization. It may not be a traditional arena shooter, given its map sizes, but it’s still just a general shooter with some added features.
NOBODY wants BF battle royale. This will just fail again if that happens.
speak for you self i love BRs i miss blackout it would be cool if BF's BR would scratch that itch for me as i really dont like warzone and pub g is outdated
@@drumandbassob0007the only way a BR could work in BF is by making the gameplay grounded ,realistic and tactical, and not make it arcade like cod
@@drumandbassob0007exactly my thoughts! I welcome this
It's not "nobody" it's you, who don't want it.
I do! A BF BR would be a dream come true for millions of us
Please no more BRs. We have enough and its so stale and boring. I'd rather they focus on multiplayer
Seems like they want another flop. There are dozens of shitty BR games out there, including EA's own Apex Legends. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot. We just want a military shooter. If they can't deliver then there is no reason to buy it, there are dozens of BR games out there.
PUBG is still one of the most played games on Steam. The data says otherwise about BR being stale and boring. You may not like it but many do.
@@tomgillotti No one cares. If people want to play BR they'll play the dozens of copy/pastes already out there. They're promising a classic Battlefield but they want to deliver the same shitty BF5/2042 experience. You can see how sales for those games were disappointing.
@@Flogger23m your comment makes no sense. You also didn’t watch the video. If you did, you didn’t listen.
@@tomgillotti EA was disappointed with BF5 and BF 2042 sales. It is fact. 2042 sales were around a third of BF3 sales. If you think chasing after Fortnite will get people to buy Battlefield you're mistaken.
We do not need another battle royal
BR's are zzzzz
Understatement.
Uhhhh, meh.
Smh not this again
Brilliant news😊. Anything's gota be better than . ...call of cheatzone/forthnite.
