I love that the Game Gear was given so much care and love in Japan, with serious developers making interesting, exclusive games for it, like the Shining Force handheld series, Sylvan Tale, this game and many others. It felt like American developers thought of handhelds as an afterthought to consoles or mere toys.
In reality, the Game Gear was its own thing, and could also be thought of as a way for developers to keep making 8-bit gems in a 16-bit age.

Sadly, Hertz wasn't a prolific developer: I only know about one other game to their name, a "submarine shooter" for the MSX named Hydefos. Amazing soundtrack also.
If you ever do a follow up to this video, you must include two gems for the Spectrum: Mighty Final Fight and Castlevania: Spectral Interlude. 'Survival Kids' is a really good game, very atmospheric (for a GBC game). It also has more than half a dozen different endings.
A sequel also came out in Japan: Survival Kids 2: Dasshutsu! Futago Shima. Pretty good, too. A fan translation for that is available, too. After that the series continued on the Nintendo DS as 'Lost in Blue' 1-3, and then there was one more entry on the Wii: Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked.

Nice video!! ^ ^.. The Kick Master wasn't made by Taito at all, it was by 'KID' japanese developer, theyr famicom/NES games has a very distinct, unique graphics, same engine, music/sound design.. Banana Prince, Low G Man, G.I. Joe, Recca, Burai Fighter, Trolls in CrazyLand,etc.. all of them made by same people...
Some didn't had famicom version and only NES release yet was made by japanese developers of that company which is weird..
You can easily tell a game made by them if ur familiar with any of them..
Some games even have same reused tiles, graphics used in other of their games..

I find it rather funny how Kick Master and Shatter Hand are polar opposites of each other. One is a game set in a fantasy setting with many different kicking moves, the other is in a SciFi setting where you punch things and have a complex powerup system.
Also, bringing up the GBC Daikatana game reminded me that there was a official GBC demake of Quest 64 that's also better then it's 3D counterpart. It's called Quest RPG: Brain's Journey (or something like that anyways) which has scripted story sequences and characters interacting together. It still doesn't have everything that was cut from the N64 game, but it's a closer look at what they may have intended for the final game to be like if they hadn't been forced by THQ to push it out the door before it was ready. Not sure if it's good enough for this list, but it is a curiosity non the less.

All console ports made in the 90s of Rod Land only have the first half of the game included. In the Arcade original it gives you a code to input in title screen to play second half of the game if you beat the final boss. This mode has all new music, bosses, story, enemies and stage layouts and uses none of the ones from the other mode and is only way to see staff credits so it's weird it was left out of every console port in the 90s.
