    I know this video is five years old, but this is the best video showing how to apply the relaxer. I know people apply the relaxer many different ways. But for me, I try to follow the instructions Avlon provides, which is presented in this video.

    So there is no conditioner after you shampoo?? If so, why was the woman placed under the dryer? Did I miss something?

      A lot of stylist will comb out and mold the hair prior to blow drying to remove excess moisture and reduce the hair drying time also reducing the pulling on the hair while the hair is wet. - It was a technique preference.

    I just want to perm my hair but I have everything except step 3. Do I really need it?

    • @bluebird1694
      @bluebird1694 3 роки тому +1

      No it's not necessary. It's just an extra conditioning step. As long as you have the neutralizing shampoo and a deep conditioner you'll be fine.

      Yes it does make a difference and it is needed, with this system we condition before using the normalizing shampoo while the cuticle is open opposed to afterwards as it conditions and protects the hair.

    She didn't base the scalp

      Most No lye relaxers don't require basing. Had she used the sodium hydroxide version she would have to base to prevent burning.

      @@elainecampbell6134 0:55 shes using the sensitive scalp version, which is no lye. The ph is lower and the formulation is waay less harsh on the skin.

      @@bluebird1694 But what is the ph level exactly? What is low?

    • @bluebird1694
      @bluebird1694 5 років тому +1

      @@wellness2holisticliving4u oh it's still highly alkaline but it's more likely to have a pH of 10-12 than 13-14 like lye formulations. It can still burn but the chemicals are less harsh than sodium hydroxide and this type of relaxer only stays active for a few hours wheras other types (sodium, lithium, potassium hydroxide) are shelf stable.
