    Quick question: why not use a vacuum instead of Pressure Pod? (why not get rid of bubbles instead of squashing them?)

    • @CosmoCaps
      @CosmoCaps  2 роки тому +1

      I suppose you could vacuum your silicone (if you're using one with long pot life). I don't see many keycap makers that do this though. I don't see many that use a vacuum chamber for their resin either.. since resin tends to have a really short pot life.
      Pressure pots will make bubbles small enough that our eyes can't see, so it's all you really need imo.

    How do you use smooth cast 325 for multishot casting? Doesn't the resin have a really short pot life (like 2.5 minutes)?

    • @CosmoCaps
      @CosmoCaps  Рік тому

      If you work really quickly.. it's possible. I think for this reason, a lot of people like using smoothcast 326.

    how was the base of the mold (attached to the keycap) and the two-piece square exterior made?

      3d printed. watch my z-butt series for more context!

    My question is, can I put the mold to the pressure pot - Turn on - wait 2 hours , turn off - then put the next item in, and then turn the pressure pot back on?
    Because I use resin 48 hours to dry so it takes a bit of time.
    Thx

      I don't think you can do this. The only time you should open the pressure pot (depressurize) is when the resin is fully cured.
      If the resin isn't fully cured, and you open the pot, you'll end up reintroducing air into the resin.. your result will be super bubbly and deformed.
      Some people wrap a heating pad around their pressure pot to increase the temperature in order to speed up cure times. I don't know if that is 100% safe since heating up something pressurized may increase the pressure inside of the pot.. so definitely do your own research for your own safety.
      An alternative is to buy a second pressure pot (or 3 or 4). That way, you can work in parallel and not have to always wait 48 hours.
      Another alternative is to switch to a faster curing resin. Now that I've typed all of this out, I would probably just do this until you can afford multiple pressure pots.

      @@CosmoCaps Very thank. Yesterday i just bought a second pressure pot, just 160x200, small for casting resin, the bigger for casting mold

    how do you get the colour on the resin? could you give a link pls

      In the video, I'm using pigments that I add to the resin! The pigments you can use depends on if you're using Urethane or Epoxy based resins.. so make sure to check for compatibility before you buy!!!
      This is what I'm specifically using: www.amazon.com/Smooth-So-Strong-Colorant-Set/dp/B005ZSGQBO
      You could also use this:
      UVO 9 Pack Color Pigment Sampler Tube www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFUGEN0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_T9X3C8VTYG4EY3PTENSK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

    what dye do you use for your resin?

    • @CosmoCaps
      @CosmoCaps  2 роки тому

      smooth on so strong pigments, smooth on UVO pigments, alumilite pigments and powders. Just make sure whatever you use is compatible with the type of resin you're using! (or test it yourself)

    Did you use your 3d printer for making the master?

    • @CosmoCaps
      @CosmoCaps  2 роки тому

      Nope, this master was based off a clay sculpt I did (using Monster clay).
