As a sixty something viewer , I’d much rather watch two real enthusiasts than an upstart UA-camr with one eye on the road , the other on his Rolex Daytona shouting to be heard over his Lamborghini V12. More please.
I'm half way through and they've only just got to Ben's car, through an absolute tour de force of conversation about brilliant 80s and 90s road cars. These two are so natural together, I hope there's room for more collabs.
If it's the one in shot at 11:50 that colour red looks like a "Dealers Collection" edition which is one of the later limited edition Evo 2s. Lovely. I'd personally prefer the Lord Blue or the red "Final Edition" with the yellow & blue stripe down the centre.
Even in a standard Delta 1300 they were faster A to B than any other hatchback in their day on "A & B" roads. So the Integrale has to be an amazing car to drive & own! These two guys are so relaxed and naturally interesting to listen to! Such a privilege to be part of their conversation!
@@BenCollinsDriveshave you ever driven a Nissan pulsar GtiR I've had one for 13 years now I think they're really great cars gearbox can be weak and breaks aren't too good four-wheel drive systems amazing 💚
Well done Ben for giving this icon the airtime it deserves. I’ve had my Evo 2 (box standard) for over 20 years - it’s still epic, you won’t regret it. Looking forward to seeing the progress. You twos are so natural together, best car show I’ve seen in ages. 👍🏻
Men of our vintage know that analogue cars are much more rewarding than any modern car. Driving is a pleasure and modern cars don't give drivers anything to do. The Lancia and the quattro, like the escort of the same era, are the top of the tree for me. Peak car. A very enjoyable video and chat, thanks.
12:40 seconds in regarding the aluminium HF gear knob and the surround KIT. It was me who put that together. I initially made it for my own Lancia, but I ended up getting a lot of requests for it, and it's great to see it being put on cars.
I love watching Ben and Jonny’s content on their respective channels, but I think they’re great together. Just two car guys chatting about cars. Content for the true petrolhead.
When i was a kid we had two Fiat Ritmo (that’s what the Strada was called here in Sweden) and i remember them being quite fun to drive apparently. My father who has always been a petrolhead and always had Alfas when i grew up was a big fan of the Ritmos. He and my best friend’s dad had a racing team with a heavily modified and prepped Alfa GTV, my father borrowed the wheels from it which had race tyres on them, stuck them on the Ritmo and got his racing license in it. He still to this day raves about how insanely fun it was to throw that thing around.
Great point chaps about the beeps. Had a Clio last week on hire. The never ending beeps drove me mad. Couldn't bear to have one. Back in the old Alfa now and, it's just the engine I listen to. So much more fun. We don't need to be treated like little children all the time.
One of the best videos I've ever seen. Saw it was 50 minutes on my 30 minute break thought ill watch it in 2. 50 minutes later I'm still.sat here. Epic
@Ben, those wheels on your delta look the business mate. Stunning... also, just wanted to say a big thanks for everything you have done over the years providing countless hours of entertainment and a great book i enjoyed reading. Great cars, in the right environment. Tanc Barratt knows his stuff on these. Italian Heaven. Best looking car in the garage …….Alfa Romeo GTV6 . Wanted to buy it when I saw it ….not for sale.
I´m a 1975 like Ben and i fell in love with the Delta Integrale from day one. There were quite some cars around here in Austria at the time. All of them ruined in the salt of winter roads here. I still love to see one, but to be honest i don´t want to own one. I got my hands on an Urquattro and a rare EVO 6 RS2 Black Diamond instead. They are beautiful to drive and reliable, but in the end they both can´t keep up with the looks of an Integrale EVO. Pure legend!
First car i ever drove! some guy called Dino had a yellow HF and i have forever been in love with this car. Dream to own one, one day but its a piped dream. thanks Ben for living my dream.
Love this chat gents. Had goosebumps when Ben mentioned the S15. I've had a nismo S15 for 13 years, such a lovely little raw car. I look forward to the S15 content!
Loving your show Ben, am green with envy for your Integrale. Looking forward to seeing you do hot laps at some track, somewhere, when the tune is finished. Get the chassis dialled in. I’m right there with you about smaller cars being more engaging. Hearing you and Jonny reminisce took me back to the Renault 4, Citroen LNA and other tiny cars, that were so much fun to thread down a B road in my youth. Come to think of it, how lucky were we, 40 years ago, to be cutting our driving teeth with the cars, and very low traffic volumes? I count my blessings…
Love the Strada mention. My first car was a Strada was a 75CL and I loved it, even with no reverse gear, collapsed seats and more rust than bodywork. Great chat fellas.
This was brilliant. I'm 48, grew up in the 80s and 90s and they were the best times. Their conversation about cars reminds me of chats me and my mates have. I wish I still had my mk2 golf gti 8v. That red delta is gorgeous btw.
So many comments that hit the mark. This is a fantastic video. Two knowledgeable people talking about great cars is what it's all about... I love all the cars they're talking about... I've always been into the unusual and quirky cars that have placed themselves into automotive history... If really doesn't get better than this...
I think your chat about modern supercars versus older cars is bang on the money. And, will be bang on the investment money. The masses don't want bonkers speed. That's only fun for a second or two. They want proper, simple, long lasting fun. As an example, the Miata/MX5 sold by the bucket load. Not overly fast but, a joy to drive around on normal roads to get away for a moment or two from one's everyday mundane chores.
This was real car chat, and I'm here for it. The Integrale is an incredibly handsome machine. Then you add it's, at one time, unstoppable rally history, and it's such a damn THING. I luv em. Then you add in Ben finding it a car he wants to own. Really desirable little beast. Great video, looking forward to seeing more Integrale content! Cheers.
When I was an apprentice, two engineers at the company I worked at had Lancias. One a Dedra and the other an Intergrale. Lifts home from work were a lot of fun!
Well, what can anyone say about this Ben Collins, ypu have definitely taken a step up. A Lancia Delta HAS to be the 80's classic car to have. Unfortunately, they're rarer than an honest politician in S/Africa. We just don't see them. The work on that car is top notch, great job to those guys. And to make this episode a bit better, you and Johnny have a regular chat about cool cars. Great video. Thank you.
Absolutely love the fact that it's two gearheads having a great conversation in an Absolutely amazing car! Congrats Ben that's a beautiful car they're really hard to find over here in the States. My dream car is an E60 M5 with the S85 V10! MANUAL! I'll have one some day. Just became a subscriber to this channel looking forward to more great content! Don't worry Jonny I'm subscribed to the Late Brake Show too!
Owned a de-cat 8v integrale a few years back. Remapped up to 215Hp, but with the better f/r 48/52% weight split. Just a dream to drive! Fantastic machine! Servicing it….another thing entirely. I had an intermittant electrical fault. After 2 weeks work, the Bosch specialist said they thought they’d fixed it…I asked what the cost would be. “It should be €1000, but if you promise never to bring this car back, we’ll say €500!”
So enjoyable to watch two down to earth guys talking car sense. I think I'm with Ben on the Integrale vs Quattro thing, I love a Quattro but some how the Integrale is just that bit better. Interesting comments about how loud the exhaust should be and that sounded about right, also, if an exhaust is too loud it can drown out engine induction noise. I also don't like popping and banging sounds, a nice crisp revving engine is good.
Hi Ben, its Tim ex. Ascari, you defo made a great decision on the Delta, spec. looks great saw it on your previous vids. 29:59 If I was that bloke driving what looks like a Toyota Landcruiser & I saw The Stig & Jonny passing me in that Lancia Delta, I would have thought I died & gone to car heaven! At least the owner can get a t-shirt made saying "I got overtaken by The Stig & Jonny Smith!" Excellent video Ben, you and Jonny's natural conversation had me glued & I've watched the video twice. Jonny, as much as I like the Ur Quattro, I'd have the Lancia Delta & I hope you get one down the track.
Great video Ben, nice to hear two experienced car guys talking about what they love! Johnny’s right, Pikes Peak 1985 Michele Mouton, it doesn’t get cooler than that!
So much of this conversation rang true with me. Great video! I bought a grey HF turbo in 1997 for 2 grand. Put integrale wheels and light on it and a momo wheel. Insurance company wrote it off when a lorry pulled out in front of me. After that i bought a 16v integrale in monza red for £5500. There were around 20 of us integrale owners who used to meet at a pub near Christchurch in Dorset every month. Ran it as a daily until 2003. Rust had started to creep in and it needed money spent on it, sold it for £2200 to a chap who restored it. Wish i still had it.
I had the chance to play with and modify my Sierra down the Cosworth route and I would happily go back there as the Sierra Cosworth is my hero aswell as the Lotus Carlton.
just happened on this and i see my car, the full livery evo1 next to bens.. ahhh nice touch. Tanc does a great job with these cars, does it all proper wouldnt go anywhere else.
My local mechanic used to always have a Brabus smart in, the owner was a stripper. For some reason that car got preferential treatment. Can’t think why.
Jonny wanking the steering wheel's imaginary third spoke, and grinning. I bought my first car with my own money in 1999, it was maroon metallic, Lancia Delta GTie (1.6i), H reg. It was mint, low mileage - £3400. I rolled it. Then I found an HF Turbo, bought unseen, it appeared to have a racing clutch installed (on or off basically), it promptly spat one of its gears through the gearbox casing. Some years later I found a White, Martini liveried 8v HF Integrale. It still had the plastic on the door cards and super low mileage, guess how much? That's right.... £10,000. I sh1t you not. Good times. Great video, thank you.
HA! Ben Collins, I saw an old TG episode with the very first mini cars playing soccer and lo and behold, a VERY young Ben Collins in the line up of British Touring Car drivers being "playground picked" b y Hammond and May. And then I stumble upon your channel with Jonny and the Lancia Deltas. FANTASTIC! I'm a subscriber now - "Some say....."
Gorgeous car Ben love everything about it including the subtle mods and you guys have just put into words my feelings about cars, so much more fun to be had with an older less powerful more engaging vehicle. Have to agree with the Transporter scene aswell even though I have a slightly modified one for family duties 😂
I love integrale's. I liked how lancia answered the criticism of their build quality at the time. Replying that other manufacturers were simply over engineering their cars.
Two proper car car talking about cars brilliant vid, 16.50 that red and the way it shines is stunning Only ever seen a 959 on road once and was stopped at traffic lights here in Sheffield and Rowern Atkinson pulled up beside me in his purple F1, we set off together then he gave me that Mister Bean look and off he went, the sound of that thing wS amazing.
“Modern super cars are not that rare anymore” - so true! Hence why I get more excited about a genuine survivor car vs something any rich person can buy all day long
I also owned a black Evo 1 with the waterinjection system for the intercooler . Green alcantara , 16 inch rims and Koni's .... wish I never sold it . Great to see the Stig also likes the Delta .
Just 2 guys having a genuine chat about a car they both adore, ignoring completely there's a camera there. Brilliant!
Just perfect.

The difference between honest money, and "new" money.
And "Era" pronounced correctly, its not fucking "Error" to all Americans and other non English speakers.

Two of my favorite youtube guys talking about cars. Great video and great cars from Italy.
Glad you like them!
Two of my favourite car guys collaborating is one hell of a way to end the day!!
Definitely need to get Rich Porter on a track very soon 😊
Two proper car car talking about cars brilliant vid, 16.50 that red and the way it shines is stunning
Only ever seen a 959 on road once and was stopped at traffic lights here in Sheffield and Rowern Atkinson pulled up beside me in his purple F1, we set off together then he gave me that Mister Bean look and off he went, the sound of that thing wS amazing.
Great work Ben and Jonny, love the Lancia
“Modern super cars are not that rare anymore” - so true! Hence why I get more excited about a genuine survivor car vs something any rich person can buy all day long
Sweet, sweet guys
Brilliant Ben!! I had a 1.9 gti then a Clio Williams but always aspired to the Lancia. Looks brutal in the black
Jonny Smith and Ben Collins collaboration, perfect.
A great authentic chat between two car enthusiasts. I'd love to be able to join in!
My 93 Fiat Uno was a very dark Lord blue! A really nice colour that we also used when we first restored our classic Mini 😎
I also owned a black Evo 1 with the waterinjection system for the intercooler . Green alcantara , 16 inch rims and Koni's .... wish I never sold it . Great to see the Stig also likes the Delta .
