The time jump between pp and leffen is crazy, goes to show how dominant they were at the time.
Rainbow Cruise was still legal from the last time a different person had won a major. That’s actually mind blowing.
From a long time fan whose been watching competitive melee since Ken and Isai, you are a literal goat for making this vid
@@A_K1ra_ damn you’ve been watching a while, I started to get super invested at the start of this year and I’ve been loving it all
Just small corrections :
- Amsah the Sheik of Europe won Epita Smash Arena 2 which was the biggest european tournament at that time and even got Japanese players that went there like Captain Jack
- KDJ won MLG Long island and yes , that was a major
- Some of the wins are not in chronological order , specially Zain who won Shine on 2018 but we got Wizzrobe and Axe first lol
damn i didnt realize any of amsahs wins were majors ty for pointing that out, i put kdj winning mlg long island, yeah sorry about that i just put them in general era order
@@ssl64will My bad from the KDJ one , yeah thats his Sheik vs M2K's Marth. For some reason i brain farted and thought it was Sheik´s M2K. The one were M2K won was his Fox vs KDJ´s sheik.
Yeah makes sense , back then KDJ was kinda of a counter to M2K because of his aggresive style on his Sheik that directly counter his "robotic style" , and one of the reasons M2K pick up Sheik as his secondary main was due to how natural felt for him to play it and the "match up spread" is actually very good and covers for his Marth. Also losing to KDJ´s sheik open the eyes of many and how much untapped potential Sheik was having.
Also , in Europe , Amsah who became number 1 , was playing Sheik and while Marth and other characters were "nerfed in Europe" because they play the EU version of the game , they have a lot of tech that in NA and Japan did not have yet like the "Amsah tech" or incredible tech chases strings they could pulled off on that time.
Armada on one of his videos mentioned that on 2008 Amsah was a Top 3 player just behind Mang0 and M2K or even their equals , and this was before Armada dethroned Amsah. Epita Smash Arena 2 the tournament i mentioned , was played on 2008 around february with Europe´s best + Japan. Armada on that tournament got 3rd place losing to both Amsah and Captain Jack iirc.
0:16 super weird to look down at that date and realize that this was seven days before I was born
The jump in quality of the videos is so funny
Doctor mario was close to winning all those years ago
- It’s crazy how it took Ken getting upsetted by Sastopher and DSF for Azen to win his first major
- it’s also crazy how it took Ken’s hiatus in early 07 for KDJ, Chu and M2k to win their first major
- it’s also crazy how it took Armada to retire for Axe, Wizzy and Zain to win their first majors
Kind of neat just how many of these historic sets were lost by someone who is considered to be one if not the most clutch players of all time.
as someone who started watching around 2015 it is kinda nostalgic but sad to think about all the top players who aren't here. Like damn Sfat, S2J, K Toy, Westballz, Hax, and so many more never got one :( Makes me happy for Axe, Wizzy, amsa, and Plup though
sfat is going to dpotg hes gonna win trust >:3
True. But everyone on this list had to be very good AND very lucky AND playing for a very long time. It's a very very rare class of player that checks every box on that list.
Nice idea. I would have appreciate a lil note about name of the player, date and maybe name of the tournament
That AmSa moment will never be forgotten. I cried with him fr
0:29 doc grand finals of a major
yeah in like 2003
It’s crazy how in over 20 years only 20 players have won a major. 21 if you count Amsah. And a lot of the players who won a major only did so once.
As far as who I think will be the next players to win a major is Aklo > Moky > Junebug. I also think Llod and Slug could do it but both of them are very inactive.
i think aklo could possibly win by the end of the year, probably nouns invitational
It's been so long since I've played Kongo Jungle, completely forgot about the bee/wasp hazard on that stage. 2:20
Junebug next
🔥🔥🔥
THAT PPMD WIN IS SOO FUEGOOO EVEN TAUNTED AT THE END TOO
could we get a "every melee player's most recent major win" video? So, like, the last tournament that ken won, etc?
@@PurpleZebras150 bet but idk if I should include 1 time major winners cuz it could get very repetitive
peak content right here
tryna start ssbm any tips?
not really good enough to give tips to get better this game is insanely hard and I’ve only been playing a few months
MY GOD A SOUND I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER HEAR AGAIN
2:25
Please do not edit the sound clip, it is a part of history and shall be preserved.
Can you list all the players
@@NightmareMelee (not in this order) mango armada hbox ken m2k leffen pp azen zain plup chudat axe pc_chris wizzy isai KDJ cody Captain_Jack amsa jmook
Thx
Time stamps and player names would be swell. If you're doing this kind of content I'd be interested in anyone who took a God to game 5
there arent time stamps but player names are in chronilogical order in desc
Why did mang go for that up-B on stage at 10:25 man- was that intentional? Clearly a lot of pressure at the time but it's hard to imagine him being so confident in that move in that scenario...
damn i never even realized that xD
you forgot about plup at genesis :(
plups first major win was dreamhack Atlanta 2017
ayyy this is really dope that you dug deep and found all these and put them together. You mind putting timestamps on which player is where, and what the tournament/year is? Like "Mango (Pound 3, 2008)"? Thank you :)
oki ill try to have it done by like later tonight
ok I didnt put in the year but all the wins are in order in the description with the tournament
@@ssl64will thanks buddy! keep up the great work
@@ssl64will also I'm pretty sure at 1:56 that's Captain Jack beating Isai at MLG San Francisco 2004. feel free to put timestamps to make navigation easier
why arent these in chronological order?
That threw me off as well, a lot of the early ones are like... close-ish to chronological yet not actually chronological for seeming no reason at all
maybe next time put the names in all of them
I just didn’t know the exact dates of most of the early ones and most of them were generally in the same era anyway
Moky next 🇨🇦❤
Great video
Who's next?
june 🔥🔥🔥
guess Lovage at Big House 1 doesn't count? i guess none of the gods attended.
@@Eclipse40 nah I think big house 2 was when it became a major
Wasnt a major
Who's next o_O
I think Aklo
Another spacie, Moky or Aklo. If we’re blessed Junebug hahaha.
