Wow, the are a fantastic engine to be fair. We didn’t get the E38 in a diesel variant in the UK market. I’ve heard of a 740d which was a V8 diesel I think ?… could be wrong… the 6 pot would be more reliable im sure! M57 is bullet proof.
Over 15 yrs ago I've had a '01 735i Orientblau Metallic (317) with cream leather interior, same rims, same seats, just a 3 spoke steering wheel. So far one of the best cars ever. Never let me down 💪 Well done! You did a great job on this beauty 🤗

The glory days of bmw. That color is absolutely gorgeous. And that leather 😭 I miss those days of supple real leather. I’m scared to even sit in my 2018 540 cause I don’t want to wrinkle up the leather.

thanks! no special tool, just a paint touchup pen :-) the one for this car i was able to get with the syringe type tip, and it works great, i recommend it highly
depends on the paint, but usually in few hours you can go over it no worries. its a very small spot, so it dries quick sorry for late reply, i missed this comment

this is not my car, i only did the detailing :-) but i believe the transmission oil would have to be changed multiple times over years. but i changed oil in my gearbox in my e38, i used only original ZF parts including oil, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/dxVhvp912_M/v-deo.html

Thank you! :-) that is exactly the reason why i use steam cleaning machine, it is very safe and very effective. Engines inherently should be waterproof, however i was always afraid to just hose down or pressure wash the engine because of electric shorts, etc. I saw few time that went very south :-D
you should, its really easy and effective.. and if some dirt doesnt go away, just use any all purpose cleaner in combination with steam, it will be like new :-)
It looks stunning! To me it seems it is well cared for even before the detail, despite its age and high mileage the owner has bought Michelins, not some pos cheap chinese tyres... This is what a 7-series should look like, the successor to this (Bangle butt) was terrible, not even mentioning the current 7...!
oh yea! since it is daily driven it is very well kept up, and it had lot of money invested over the years (exactly, the michelins i noticed when the car came first time too! :-D) agreed on the bangle one also :puke:
it is very independent, every car is different, depends on how bad the paint is, what should the end result be, if i am doing the interior, if the wheels are going off the car, if i am doing the enginebay, the wheel wells, if it gets ceramic coating, etc. i have to shamefuly say i have never been to US :-( yet! :-D

sorry, but that would be pretty extensive :-D I use mostly carpro products, for polishing i use scholl s2 black paste with ninja pads, and for protection capro cquartz sic ceramic coating + carpro reload on top.

yea :-( unfortunately in my country it is absolutely dumb, you cant just go in the shop and buy new plates like in uk.. you would have to go to the DMV and say that your plates got stolen or something and you would have to pay 100€ per plate..

I drove most of the time alone, very light use also due to speed limits here, but too many things broke and maintanance and repairs were extreme expensive. I had a 1990 Mercedes 560SEL and in 5 years just regular maintanance and no repairs whatsoever.

@@VANITY80 yes. Because of the depreciation. The first years the car was ok, although the dealership couldnt fix the climatecontrol in good working order, but after 120.000kms lots of issues came up. I owned several cars then and the only reason to keep the car was the12 cylinder engine.
E38 probably the best car ive ever had. 713k kilometers when i sold it. M57 engine lives long if you maintain it.

I remember my father had a E38 730d when I was young. We went from the Netherlands to Austria with this car every year, such a comfortable ride.

I have a 1999 735i Orientblau with original 16in rims of the same models than a 750i. 240K km drives very smoothly. Everything is original. I love it.
