    Do you know if there is a new release coming up, considering the Edge was released 2022? I'm debating whether I should wait for a new release or buy the Edge..

    • @MotoNZ

      I doubt there will be a significant replacement for the Edge any time soon. Cardo ran the Packtalk Bold for close to 10 years.
      Technology is always moving forward, and cardo are releasing updates for their devices as they go, but the fundamental hardware components of the Edge have not advanced that much as yet.

    Hi, I’ve bought the Cardo 4x and had connection issues from day one. I’ve been told by the company reps here in Oz that it is due to bad mobile service. Is this correct?

    Buying a AGV Helmet with the "Insyde" system, which I am told IS a Cardo system! Great! But, She-who-sits-behind-me, my love, need a comm system as well. What to buy? She has a Shoei-non-flip-helmet. She needs Phone, music, talk to me and maybe one other bike with Cardo system and max two riders.
    Is the Insyde system crap? Should I get a standalone system from Cardo in some duopack? Riding a GS and using an iPhone.

      Sena and Cardo cant talk to each other via Mesh or DMC, they can only connect via bluetooth.

    Many thanks for a such an informative video. This is the first video I've seen from your channel. I've been researching intercoms as I'm starting out into biking and don't want to waste money in a field where it's possible to spend money like water and still not get want you want or need. You have a new subscriber!
    I have a question: Which of these intercoms, if any, conform to the new OBI standard? OBI is the Open Bluetooth Intercom standard launched by Cardo, Uclear and Midland to eliminate cross-brand incompatibility. Maybe a (follow-up?) video about this new standard would be helpful?
    Edit: There is also UCS, which is the 'Universal Communications Solution'. This practically standardizes the size and shape of the intercom. One advantage is that it will allow integrated assembly into new ECE 22.06 motorcycle helmets. It will also allow riders to freely choose communication devices without compromising the helmet fit and appearance.

    • @MotoNZ
      @MotoNZ  2 місяці тому

      i've been following the developments you speak of, but I dont think anything has been released yet.
      that said, the Intercom channels on Cardo products can connect to off brand intercoms now too.

    Hi there. Thank you for your videos! We've tried a few other brands of intercom/bluetooth devices. None of them have good to any sound quality whether with intercom between driver and pilion or bluetooth with phone, over 60 km/h (37 miles/h). We're using full faced helmets. Will the Cardo Packtalk Edge work for us? Thanks!

    • @MotoNZ
      @MotoNZ  2 місяці тому

      In my experience, Cardo's Packtalk Neo, Edge and Pro offer clear "wideband" audio via DMC, and more than enough volume to use on the open road with or without earplugs.

      @PanRider939 3 місяці тому +1

      The whole Mesh Bluetooth thing is a pain in the behind. 30 riders in one group would be nigh on impossible to create and manage unless you use data and a zoom conference. You can connect Packtalk Bluetooth to almost any other Bluetooth unit. Sena is the stubborn one.
      We have a group of 6 with 5 PackTalk units, two of them are on pillions which is a waste, but they bought pairs. I have a Bluetooth on my pillion helmet is fine. Good on a ride being lead rider talking to middle and tail end riders. You’ll always have a diehard that refuses to buy into it.
      Only difference between Neo and Edge is the mounting system, Neo clips Edge is magnetic (or is it the other way around. :-P.) I’d avoid Custom it’s cheaper but you pay a subscription for the features you want to install.

    Thank you for the nice comparison video. I was looking for exactly this because my recent cheap chinese comm gave out so was looking to upgrade to a better unit. I am a solo rider who listens to music on the go and at times gps directions or phone calls. In my setup, the device and the phone, both are connected to the motorcycle to use the hand controls. Which one out of the freecom 4x and Neo would be better. I am looking for battery life plus good speakers and good Bluetooth signal strength, because I have noticed that the Bluetooth signal on my motorcycle is very flaky to a point that if I tilt my head to the left, it starts cutting off. Also is the warranty same on the freecom 4x vs Neo vs Edge?

    Great video but as a rider who had done 1000's of miles without these my question is how do they compare to noise canceling apple airpods or samsung eaeplugs (which i use).
    Tbe samsung is my goto for basic noise cancelation from helment wind, then as extra benefit i can do music etc. Does a cardo install have noise cancelation to remove the need for earplugs or is it for very very quite helme ts.

    • @MotoNZ

      No Cardo does noise cancellation, they have speakers, not ear plugs. They are for listening to music and communications in helmet. I’ve never been able to keep airbuds in my ears when putting my helmet on…. Cardo speakers are installed in the lining of the helmet so no need to worry.

    I have a question about the edge. When you get a phone call does it cut the other rider off? Can I inform the other rider I’m getting a call or does it disconnect the other rider?

    • @MotoNZ
      @MotoNZ  4 місяці тому +1

      while the phone is ringing you can still talk to the other rider, but as soon as you answer it pauses the dmc group.

      We have the Cardo pack talk bold and they won’t let us communicate when a call comes in. Is there something in the settings or did they change that with the edge? We are going to buy new communication devices but want to make sure that I can notify my husband of a call coming in instead of being cut off like we are currently experiencing with the Pack talk bold. Thank you for your previous response.

      @@pamflanigan6392 Well the Bold is pretty old tech these days and not getting any further updates, you'll me amazed at the increase in quality when you move to the edge.

    So, only the packtalk generation can connect to two bluetooth devices? For example one mobilephone and your motorcycle tft (like honda roadsync)?

    Can someone explain to me what is meant by “you can only connect to X amount of people”?
    Does that mean these don’t work with normal group phone calls?

    • @MotoNZ
      @MotoNZ  3 місяці тому

      Each device has a certain number of Bluetooth intercom channels. these are point to point. so if the device has 2 Bluetooth intercom channels, you can only connect to 2 other riders.
      If the device has DMC or Mesh, it can talk to up to 15 riders on that one connection.

    Do you find a major sound quality difference between Spirit HD and the top tiers? And if so, does this change with the JBL 45mm speaker upgrade? (I‘m mainly interested in music, not intercom)

      Also I’m in the same dilemma, a colleague of mine bought the Edge and the JBL speakers sounded flat and tinny, fitted to a Shoei GT Air 3, a disappointment given that JBL speakers in my cars and Bluetooth portable systems sound really great. And because my soon to be delivered Africa Twin mandates an intercom I need to buy something just for music and to gain access to all the features that she has on offer.

    With the dmc and Bluetooth connection does that mean it doesn’t matter if other rides have cardo, senna , inset alternative brand here, it will still work as long as theirs operated on dmc/bluetooth as well?
