And yet you yourself run a personal service company Skylarking UK Ltd with just one employee that made at least 1.2m profit in the last accounts. Rather than 50% of this going in tax, you're going to reduce your tax and your customers ER NI by paying yourself the personal allowance and then paying the remainder in dividends.
Sort your own house out and agree employee contracts with all your customers and get rid of your PSC if you're against tax avoidance.
Luckily for you the government has reduced the dividend allowance to £1000 from April then £500 from the April afterwards.
Russell isn't an employee and depending on who he does his stand up for they may not use sole traders as they don't want to be paying their tax if the person doesn't pay it.

@@davidhoward4715 This was playing devil's advocate to highlight something (PSCs) which a lot of people do and is a form of aggressive tax planning to reduce tax pad which HMRC is trying to eradicate via IR35. Glass houses and throwing stones and all that.
Zahawi who this was about is a refugee who 22 years ago co-founded a major company involved in surveys (Yougov) and the case involves tax on the sale of shares. It's unclear exactly what happened but it's likely his accountants either suggested or signed off on his tax planning but he didn't fight it when HMRC pushed back probably for political reasons. This came to bite him.
