    I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I make easy and practical cantonese learning videos for complete beginners to intermediate level.
    My full time job is a flight attendant. I enjoy studying foreign languages. My job allows me to visit many places and meet many people. So that I have more chances to practice what I have learned.
    Due to the covid, I haven't fly regularly for over a year. I find UA-cam is extremely helpful for maintaining my language proficiency. One day, out of curiosity, I looked for cantonese learning channels. I was so surprised that there are so little and most of the good one are even from overseas. That's why I started "5 minute cantonese" on 2020.

    This was very useful and very practical. I can easily practice this at my local Asian store. I also like how you always help us to use the new vocabulary in easy sentences. Thank you for taking the time to create these videos. I use them as part of my Cantonese learning and it helps a lot. I am a big fan!

      @@tonomoresorrow what do you mean by actual pronunciation of 你? You mean whether it's lei or nei? I guess at this point, both are colloquially acceptable.

    Can you make a video how to text Cantonese messages on smartphones if I don’t know simplified Chinese? I heard from friends that if I text the pronunciation, it will transfer to simplified Chinese so I can communicate with Cantonese friends. ❤️

      Nei5 hou2 😊 thank you for your comment. To be honest, I am not good at typing as well. 😅 as Chinese have many words with same pronunciation, it makes it very difficult if you cannot read the characters. But it's a very interesting suggestion, let me do some research. I hope one day I could make a video about that.

    Is 飯 also mean “meal” in cantonese, right?

    • @5minutecantonese
      @5minutecantonese  3 роки тому

      You are right! But only when it combines with the word 食 (食飯), or the particular time like dinner, 晚飯. The word alone means rice.

    Some times I see various cooked intestines, innards, and things like that in the siu mei stores. Are those intestines considered part of siu mei?

    • @5minutecantonese
      @5minutecantonese  3 роки тому +1

      Depends on the cooking style. I guess what you mean are those cooked with Lou sauce (lou5 sui2 zap1), those we call them lou5 mei2.
