If namco adds Kazumi to Tekken 8, I'll buy the battle pass. I still consider Reina a stance base character since so many of her best moves get you to stance. The transition between stances is so smooth.
Nah they'd probably tone him down like Zafina and probably give him some "drunk" charge like Gen Fu or Jamie where he unlocks more stances and damage the more drunk he is.
You've got me very puzzled ngl. This video didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Steve and yoshi are very reliant on their stances. Not relying on them limits the characters completely
I don’t hate stance characters as a concept, but the fact that everyone gets some kind of stance-based mixup is annoying because it ruins the individuality of each character imo. Steve, Yoshi, and Hwoarang feel so different because their stances compliment their gameplay rather than define it AND their stances aren’t the same (high, low, safe mid, grab, etc.) mix that tons of other stances get.
@@HypanozBryan is fundamentals-based but still high tier because his tools are so damn good. Qcb+1 and qcf1+2 alone can control the neutral and simply walking right won't help lol. One thing I noticed about T8 is the push to bypass neutral gameplay as much as possible. Reina ff+2, Victor running 2, Azu old running 3,2, etc.

Stance characters used to rely heavily on your own ignorance for wins, which is why a lot of them used to be mid to low tier(Eddy, Lei, Yoshi, taekwondo boys). Most of them still do, but now we have next level stance characters with tools that are also oppressive, exacerbated further by the game's absurdly large hitboxes and crazy tracking(looking at you Victor and Reina). It's never fun to deal with and the devs keep forcing more and more of them on everyone so I completely get the fatigue.

The Lei stance which has been the most problematic in previous Tekken games is the drop dead stance which crushed highs, mids and most lows for a full launch 😆

He had a couch dash which initiated a 50/50, like all Mishimas I guess. If he comes back I'll probably pick him up too. Hoping for Miguel..another character with a stance 😅

I think stances are being used more and more because they just want to keep adding more moves to these chars and stances are the way to do it.. go into stance and then every button is a diffrent move, although we cant expand their movelists infinitely otherwise at some point they will have all the tools they need and no weaknesses... which sort of leads us to tekken 8 where some characters do too much.. and the tendency is to get worse in tekken 9, but we are still far away from that.
I feel like “stance” means the player can press nothing and that character will stay in that stance permanently or a very long time, like Xiaoyu or Zafina. I wouldn’t consider command dashes a stance tho:
I dont agree, stances r great and give variety to the game, without stances all chars would be played and faced the same way... So... i totally support the stance characters, there is more chars that have stronger neutral than stances so... that complains doesnt make sense to me at all.
Well everybody is a stance character because it's an arbitrary community based label anyway. And not everyone in the community is smart enough to publish a sound argumentation about it. If a character spends 90% of their time back turned, and 70% of their movelist have BT transition. Are they are not a stance character simply because BT is not an unique stance? More importantly, the current labels don't make any sense. Steve has to use his stance for absolutely everything (mixups, combos, poking and CH fishing) since T5. And he's somehow not a stance character? Especially not in T8 where LH is literally mandatory? Alisa can function well without using her chainsaws the whole match, she could since T6. Yet she's somehow a stance character? Nah, it's all just a scam.
I have a problem with giving things like wavedash and sway a stance label since they're more of a movement tech rather than a stance, will we start calling dash or backdash stances too because they have specific moves out of them? That's too much
My homie used Lei and yoshimitsu in 7. Its so annoying for him to stance transition under a low and punish me seamlessly like a crackhead. And Lei just lying down whenever he wanted. Its insane lol
I don't dislike stance characters i dislike how they all feel the damn same, attack into stance,mix-up into another stance, mix-up over and over again. Even my main Lili is falling into this instead of an Evasive counter attackers. I hate that
Not suuuper into stance characters but I don't mind them. Kinda wish the newer ones had more interesting design than 50-50s though. Steve is my personal favorite of this, because his key stances (flicker, peakaboo, dash-in and sway) all augnent his core identity, being relatively safe pressure while looking for counter hits. This also just play really well into his power fantasy of Boxing. But of course they also gave him that dumb "o'oer e'ere" stance that just gives him a 50-50 unblockable high or big mid. I think that's the main issue with new stances in T8, they're kinda uncrative most of the time. Something other than a stance character is definitely needed for the percieved health of the game at this point, even if the fear of Heihachi was overblown. But I am kinda worried about how they're gonna handle Lei. Will they cut stances? Dumb them down? Harada have said that his pick-rate was low, and with how stances are handled currently, I'm worried about an overcorrection.
Bro stances are some of the easiest things to deal with, jsut react well and know your options. Always be ready to low parry or armor, and be on edge to duck them being cocky or overpressuring. Stance players hate to be interrupted, dick jab is actually a decent option to stop a good amount of stances for multiple characters
Devil kazumi unknown ancient ogre akuma or jinpachi is all that would be hype. No boss = boring. End of story. If it’s kazumi, it MUST be her devil form. Tekken 8 is boring rn as well as the roster, come heavy or don’t come at all harada.

@@Boogardwell what makes a character rush down? Like yes of course some characters are better at it but you can really do it with anyone. Steve or Bryan, two big CH characters, can easily rush down with them and even helps with their idea of getting a CH. they can rush down to meet their requirements of getting that good CH. And if all characters have stances (besides maybe Nina I guess) then is everyone not a stance character? Wouldn’t it be mostly irrelevant in terms of labeling a stance character in Tekken where everyone has stances?

The problem now is that theyre making almost every character one and therefore stance characters then lose their uniqueness. The other thing i hate with the direction of some.stance characters is the forced transitions to stance. It was a bad idea on steves lionheart stance and is still a bad idea now on most characters. Its so clunky to have to cancel out of the stance transitions on some moves and it limits our offensive options like with lidias db3 or ff2.
Victor is a stance based character now though and he is far stronger than before he is just less Ungabunga. And honestly you probably spend too much time on r/Tekken if you see so much people whine about stances
I hope that DEN 3 becomes cancellable for season 2. Most people don't like to be on the receiving end and trust me I understand but it's also not great for us. The reality is that we do it because other than SEN 1 (only +1 but is frame tight) and ws3 (which is a high) it's our only guaranteed plus frames.

Its not just that many playstyles in ranked really feel like pop up their heat smash, get into stance and than mix up
I imagine its stances that are integral to the main functionality of the character that make them stance characters
