  • Something I have wanted to do for a while so as it's quiet today and I have the materials I thought I would have a go.
    It turned out great and will be an asset to the shop.

    Thanks Gary. An invaluable tutorial from someone who learned their lessons, then learned how to improve those lessons and passed it on to us spanners who are still trying to learn. I'm not brave enough to weld without gloves, but I'll take away a few other tips from this and try to apply them to my advantage.

    Great work as usual!
    I think the guy on the youtube channel Aging Wheels (might have been his other channel, Under Dunn) got an ArcDroid, he’s in the US, but he gave a pretty frank review of it in the video I saw. Seems like a pretty good tool, it trades some things off by not being a ‘plasma table’ but the space savings seem worth it if you don’t *need* the full plasma table.

    Great job Gary! I musta been gone a while. I didn't realize that you retired from shoeing. The only thing I would have done different was to have two fixed casters and two swivel casters. Four swiveling casters make it so can't steer that SOB for nuthin. If shopping carts had four swiveling casters...it would be pandemonium and chaos at every shopping trip. LOL

      Because it’s small and square it steers just fine, goes wherever I want it!

    Glade to see you're back. Retiring from shoeing will do you a world of good, your hand and shoulder will thank you for it. Cheers mate.

    I'd like to make something similar. Very handy, I like the width for safety. Thanks!

    I don't think you will regret that Gary, I think my coke forge has only been lit half a dozen times since I put my gas forge in my workshop, I only use the coke forge for stuff that is odd shaped and I cant get it in the gas forge, or when I need to spot heat an area that is to big for the oxy acetylene to do easily.

    Hi Gary, what was the name of the (Canadian made) cutter you said you were considering?

    • @garyhuston
      @garyhuston  Рік тому

      ArcDroid, designed in Canada and built under license in China. Great piece of kit.

    Didn’t realise it was that long since you stopped shoeing do you miss it much

      Not in the slightest! I haven’t missed it one bit. Best thing I ever did, the stress levels dropped to almost zero overnight!

    Is the Vevor forge going to get a similar treatment?

    • @garyhuston
      @garyhuston  Рік тому

      Probably not, it won’t be used as much only for really long pieces which I don’t do often. I can’t really afford the floor space for something less used, besides it very light and easily put on a bench top when needed.
