i'm Indonesian and when I was in the middle school, my Filipino geog teacher used to give us some Polvoron goldilocks and Boy Bawang. and OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCHH! i like polvoron the pinnypig(CMIIW), original, and cookies and cream, the r the best! he also gave us some gum that can turns ur tongue into color i forgot what its name.. also some candies, ah i forgot. i really looking into some more Filipino's snacks! :))
Stacy Ellaine Lisondra hahahha! tfyi! i miss my geog teacher now:( Chester Pagulayan thanks for correcting! by the way i still don't what polvoron really is.. the original taste like umm, a powdered milk.. ahahaha.
emmymadeinjapan emmy rigth im a filipina im Meagan i can say you what is the filipinos food just you can add me in the facebook im 11 years old i want to be like you i watch all of the episode you put in the youtube and i will teach you a filipino languange :) my name in the facebook is Meagan Llanes my photo is a smiley face and my lips is color orange .....they had a letter in my photo its take care
My husband is Filipino and I love getting to visit his family in San Diego where there are a ton of Filipino resturants and bakeries!! One of my favorites is a taro polvoron its like a shortbread cookie! I've had the chocostars too but I don't really like them lol.
if ever you visit PH please try Turon- it is a banana covered with shanghai wrapper sometimes they also include jackfruit inside Halo-Halo a fruity-dessert like-smoothie bread stix- a kind of bread snack it looks like mini french bread inside the pack Eggnog it kinda look like pasencia but it is easier to eat kinda like the smooth version but milkier Tapsilog- a meal make up of fried rice, fried egg, and tapa (beef) Tocilog a meal made up of Tocino (might be pork or chicken)fried rice and fried egg Leche Flan- its like a pudding but is oblong in shape with caramelized sugar on top Pulburon - a powdery dessert its sweet Yema ( I hope you can find the best quality) it is a dessert made out of milk nuts it is usually wrap on celophane plasic Pandesal- filipino type bread its delicious partner would be black coffee there were a;lot more please try them up and oh if ever you would try them please try to ask because I saw a video by others and they look up for instructions on the internet and they just did it without the proper manner of cooking and commented its nastu when they cooked it up themselves =.=
I'm filipino myself and enjoyed this entire video! the way you said "Polvoron" was so cute to hear hahah but you said it right now. I'm in awe to just see a person like you blogging/reviewing things about Filipino Culture. Way to go! I'm a fan :)
I was born in the Philippines and grew up in Canada and watching this makes me feel like I'm back home. Your pronunciation is perfect but the O in sampaloc is a long O sound but the way you say it is cute. Nagaraya over here has 3 flavors (Adobo, Original, and Garlic) and Choco Stars are called Choco Nut. You should try Growers Peanut snacks it's really good.
you must try pastillas, yema and go for filipino pastries like inipit ang special ensaymada, and try buko pandan drink from nathaniel's its one of my favorite here in the Philippines.
I agree pastillas! The ones made from carabao(buffalo) milk wrapped in paper, not the ones wrapped in plastic. They taste really different, you'd be surprised.
if you want to eat native filipino sweets try bukayo, macapuno candies, ube, yema, palitaw, cassava cake, sapin-sapin, kalamay, tikoy they are very sweet and delicious!
have you tried the Toasted cookies or Polvoron ? its made up of toasted flour mixed w/ sugar , butter and Powdered milk sometimes its mixed w/ choco bits , cookies and cream it has the same texture of choco stars but creamier not nutty flavor .. Goldilocks pastry and Sasmoa are the best on making toasted cookies/ polvoron
Yay. Your friend brought you some of my faves! Glad you enjoyed tasting them. Nagaraya, choco-star (i haven't tasted that brand, but i am sure it's just like choc-nut and hani. They are chocolate peanut bars), and curly tops.
Irina Santillan omg I love ube ice cream!! It's one of my favorite flavors and it has the best purple color ever! Is Halaya similar to hallo hallo? My Lolo (Tagalog for Grandfather) used to fry up lumpia and pancit. Then for desert he would take me to this Filipino restaurant for Hallo Hallo. I even got a shaved ice machine for Christmas and would make them every day during the summer when I was young kid.
Ube isn't really that huge here because we got alot of different flavors going on. It's more like a staple flavor just to be said it's native in the Philippines
this never gets old! hope to see another video of filipino snacks! there are tons out there! and btw, if you get the chance, do try fresh philippine mangoes. i'm pretty sure you'll go gaga over it :)
omfg, you're freakin adorable.. :3 I was drooling the entire video, oh! and I'm a Filipino.. :3 I love curly tops.. XD and pillows, and sampaloc and many many more!
Fiona Villar Yeah your right when I first saw it I read it and it says Emmy eats Philippines dun dun dun like my face shock woah hahahahaha but thanks Emmy you like our food hmmmmmm
The way you eat them makes me miss them more. I am Filipino living in the U.S. After watching you, I now plan to go to the Filipino store and buy myself some pinoy snacks. :)
emmymadeinjapan ahaha your good in tasting and i have a request for you ! i want you to post a video af eating balut ! hehehe for my wish if you want ?
I grew up in the Philippines and now in the UK. Watching your video, I've just realized that Filipino snacks tend to be drier and more compact. It's probably because everything melts so quickly so they have to make them shelf-able. :P So glad you like the Filipino snacks! You should try the Pancit Canton instant noodles. Really good stuff.
Omg~ Probably my face "eats/tries PH food video" I enjoy your reviews~ XD And pacencia or pasensya means sorry in filipino~ :3c And nagaraya has more flavors too~
i love curly tops and flat tops. they're basically the same but flat tops are wrapped in candy foil. they're easier to give out than curly tops because curly tops are exposed on the top and flat tops aren't.
I secretly HATE when people compare filipino food to american food. My friends always say that pillows are just cereal even though it came out WAY before that one stupid cereal... but I don't HATE you.
Yay! I was expecting this kind of video in every channel i watch and then i found this thank you for uploading..I have a suggestion in your future videos can you eat filipino street foods like balut,qwek-qwek,isaw,fishball and etc. Thanks
You Must Also try Polvoron , Dried Mangos, Pastillas , banana Chips, Piaya , plantien (banan chips with like Vanila extract I think and sesame seeds.) plantien is my favorite and try hany it's like chocostar.
Whoa! Of all the reaction videos that I've watched, yours was the only awesome one! Like, everything was a compliment. You actually have an honest tongue. Haha. Thank you for the appreciation, Miss Emmy :)
Most people just make reaction videos like that as entertainment. But I think Emmy actually tries to have an open mind and she does out of the spirit of wanting to learn and enjoy other culture's foods and such. I remember a long time ago watching her video explaining natto, and she was so level headed and respectful about it. Most people just are really close minded and/or exaggerate because they think it's funny, but they don't realize it comes off as really disrespectful.
+SelphieFairy Yah. I totally agree. Some reactions are meant to be entertaining but it turns out offensive for some Filipino viewers. Especially if the foods they're tasting are our favorites.
You need to try more Filipino food!!! I would really enjoy that since my mother is from the Philippines. I've been there and visited for about 3 weeks but I didn't try all that different snacks and things that i didn't normally eat back here at home in the states from the Asian markets that my mother buys!
Thanks so much! You were so open-minded about our sweets~ I'm so happy~ Your reactions were the same as mine whenever I try new Japanese snacks from my students. :D
Hello Emmy, some enterprising local companies come up with Japanese words as brands to look and sound premium. :-) I grew up with brands like Oishi and Kirei. As a young Filipino, those were my earliest exposure to the Japanese language and culture. I think there was even a company in Japan that was named 'Made in the USA' just to penetrate the American market in the 60s. Just an FYI. :-)
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video. So glad you liked nagaraya nuts -- my coworkers are always curious when I eat them at my desk and they all love it when they have one! Also, I love it when I get one of those sampaloc candies and it doesn't have a seed in it -- best thing ever! :)
i love how kind you review the foods :) you're not like the others that would put a lot of insulting words just to describe it.. I'm Filipina and I really do appreciate this Video.
Yey! I'm very happy that you enjoyed all those. I was kind of anxious that you may not like some (or all) of them. I've been binge-watching your videos, btw. I like watching your reactions. 😆
When I went to the Philippines when I was 8 I tasted pillows for the first time and I loved them so much that I brought a huge bag of pillows home to the US
me and my sister liked the video cauz were filipino and we are very proud that someone appreciated the filipino food.. keep up the good work make some many videos about different food of different countries.. "Proud To Be Pinoy!!!!"
I love you and your friend. She's very smart on her choices, I love Hi-Ro bcoz it's not chocolatey like Oreo and it's not about sweetness and chocolate, It also a bit tangy. If I remember it correctly, the original Hi-Ro has orange flavor spread. Sampaloc and polvoron too! I hope she brought you some of our 'local' and 'traditional' treats, but then it'll be too sweet for you. Aside from Fibisco, we also have Rebisco, both are biscuits companies. :-) thank you for your very thoughtful review. :-)
Yay! I'm from the Philippines :) Curly Tops ! I personally love that one, That's kinda expensive . Haha. The fact is,it is called "Curly Tops" but the top of the chocolate isn't really curly. Haha, Other chocolate candy called "Flat Tops" is actually similar to curly tops, it just differ in their names Haha. NAGARAYA actually taste salty, right? And it comes in different flavors, you got the ADOBO one, Adobo is a Filipino Dish that tastes so good...The SAMPALOC tastes both sweet and sour :) PILLOWS !!! Those are my favorite! Honestly, it may contain less but it's delicious...
Hi Emmy! Thank you for sharing these videos on UA-cam! I was wondering if you would be willing to do another Filipino snack video. The snacks you tried in this one are familiar to me but there are some others I would like to send to you! I'm half Filipino and Mexican and also would like to send over some other Mexican snacks as well. If you want to try something else from those regions of the world I would love to share😸
Can't believe I didn't see this video earlier! I'm half Filipino and visit my family there every few years. This video is very reminiscent of those times :) Also, I highly recommend the garlic flavoured Nagaraya nuts - very good!
curly top its a cheap brand chocolate.. not much good but kids loves it.. me too when i was a kid.. and that nagaraya i like the original flavor because adobo flavor is salty.. and that pillow there is oishi brand also thats superb and more soft and very cholatey "oishi-sponges" is more good than pillow because pillow is hard and thick.
The Choc-o-Star is actually a brand of chocnut or chocolate-peanut candy in the Philippines. It's different from polvoron, which is more of toasted milk powder, sugar and rice crispies. :)
Tamarind is also found on the islands of the Caribbean. What you were eating they would call tamarind balls. They are delicious. Tamarind is also very good for your digestive system! 😊
I'm from Israel and we have these in breakfast cereal form - I thought it was an Israeli invention, but maybe not... Love your vids - keep on the good work!
I think the crumbly light peanut flavored snack you're talking about is like mazapan, right? A company named De La Rosa 🌹 makes a mazapan that sounds exactly like it, they're so delicious!
like you learned by yourself, germans packagings are very heavy to open, because it can't open by itself in case of falling or wrong handling while put it in the shelves and so on, to keep the inside safe =)
I'm so glad that you liked what you tried. I've watched other foreigners try snacks from our country and they're so negative about them. Idk why, Philippine snacks are really gooood. You should try our street food next time :)
YEEEEE. We can totally relate. I totally love pillows too. YEEE. BTW, I love your videos too much. Great food tasting out there! Hope you can taste either: Dried Mangoes, or balut. :D
It's kinda eye-opening how big the world is to see people unfamiliar of the snacks I've been used to all my childhood. It's like seeing a person who does not know santa claus or the alphabets :) Awesome vid!
I love your videos! I think it's totally awesome that you like trying new things from different places. You're very optimistic and an incredibly open minded person! :D
Finally someone who understands the awesomeness of candied tamarind. Most of the previous reacts are a bunch of babies.
lol. that's one of my favorites!
Mmm what’s that like? I ve has tamarind on its own only
Are they babies for having an opinion?
If they over reacts,it's annoying..
I actually like it with the salt coating... but both are delicious ❤️❤️
i'm Indonesian and when I was in the middle school, my Filipino geog teacher used to give us some Polvoron goldilocks and Boy Bawang. and OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCHH! i like polvoron the pinnypig(CMIIW), original, and cookies and cream, the r the best! he also gave us some gum that can turns ur tongue into color i forgot what its name.. also some candies, ah i forgot. i really looking into some more Filipino's snacks! :))
Hi ! The gum that turns your tongue into a certain color is called "pintura" ;)
You spell pinipig as it is. :)
Visit the Philippines sometime. Every place has its own sweet delicacies.
Stacy Ellaine Lisondra hahahha! tfyi! i miss my geog teacher now:(
Chester Pagulayan thanks for correcting! by the way i still don't what polvoron really is.. the original taste like umm, a powdered milk.. ahahaha.
the gum is called "PINTURA" (paint)
fun fact. the girls uses the chewing gum to paint their lips Like a lipstick.
Very experienced palate. Foreigners I know tend to have difficulty distinguishing the taste of some of those snacks specially the sampaloc candy.
You're very polite and respectful :)
Thank you :)
emmymadeinjapan emmy rigth im a filipina im Meagan i can say you what is the filipinos food just you can add me in the facebook im 11 years old i want to be like you i watch all of the episode you put in the youtube and i will teach you a filipino languange :) my name in the facebook is Meagan Llanes my photo is a smiley face and my lips is color orange .....they had a letter in my photo its take care

Wow this was 8 years ago? I like how Emmy describes the food first and then give her opinion which is a good example of a food critic.

Really good stuff.
glad you enjoyed our treats!! :D you're very kind!
Omg~ Probably my face "eats/tries PH food video" I enjoy your reviews~ XD And pacencia or pasensya means sorry in filipino~ :3c And nagaraya has more flavors too~

Chocnut is better than chic-o-star 😄
Franchesca Ortega yeah, It's made by the same company though. The latter is more dry and easy to break. It's either chocnut or Hany for me...

I like chick-o-stick
Awww... you look like someone who genuinely loves food!! you're so cute. I love food too. hihi.

I'm half Filipino and Mexican and also would like to send over some other Mexican snacks as well. If you want to try something else from those regions of the world I would love to share😸
you should also try MikMik, Sundot Kulangot, Cream-O and especially Pastillas and Yema :D
Can't believe I didn't see this video earlier! I'm half Filipino and visit my family there every few years. This video is very reminiscent of those times :) Also, I highly recommend the garlic flavoured Nagaraya nuts - very good!
OMG!!! I love emmy already.. (This is my first time watching her).
also me!
curly top its a cheap brand chocolate.. not much good but kids loves it.. me too when i was a kid.. and that nagaraya i like the original flavor because adobo flavor is salty.. and that pillow there is oishi brand also thats superb and more soft and very cholatey "oishi-sponges" is more good than pillow because pillow is hard and thick.
I love Emmy eating all these foods plus you get to learn about there food.
Curly tops❤️❤️❤️Pasencia and Jacobina goes best with coffee😍😍😍
Curly tops, flat tops and nagaraya are some of my favorite snacks. thank you for appreciating our sweets and snacks, Emmy :)
Emmy!!!! i'm addicted to you now!! can you do Philippine Eats again!! 😁😁
Awesome video Emmy! Subscribed. :)
like you learned by yourself, germans packagings are very heavy to open, because it can't open by itself in case of falling or wrong handling while put it in the shelves and so on, to keep the inside safe =)
I'm so glad that you liked what you tried. I've watched other foreigners try snacks from our country and they're so negative about them. Idk why, Philippine snacks are really gooood. You should try our street food next time :)
The starting music is so adorable it's exactly like a filipino, fun and happpy hihi
It's cool that you liked most of those Pinoy snacks. Not to mention most of them are like old school treats 😁. You rock!
I love your videos! I think it's totally awesome that you like trying new things from different places. You're very optimistic and an incredibly open minded person! :D
