Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, directed by and starring actor Madhavan, released on July 1 garnering praise from the public. But a group of former ISRO scientists have said the claims in the film and those made by Nambi Narayanan are not based on facts.
This week on Let Me Explain, Anna Isaac looks at why these former scientists are disputing Rocketry and Nambi Narayanan’s claims and what Nambi Narayanan has to say about their allegations.

I mean if you get a chance to read the book " Ready to fire" , Nambi Sir has mentioned all the scientists contribution along with their names , and the politics involved inside ISRO , and the question still remains how much of that is true, that had to be cleared out by Nambi Sir himself.
I think the film is not about if he single handedly carry out the mission but its about how he got branded a traitor when he's not...
If the Indian Cricket team won the match, of course it is team effort but man of the match will goes to one person only. Similarly, in case of movie making, many people would have contributed and worked hard but the ultimate credit goes to the director for his vision and making skills.
In the film rocketry, it was never mentioned that Nambi invented the VikAS engine single handedly. It was shown that he envisioned it and lead the team. Just because of some jealous scientists' stupid statements, now people don't go against Nambi.
Nambi Narayanan is a true scientist and the only mistake he made was continuing in ISRO after degree from PRINCETON.

Why these guys didn't appear when he was in jail and gave third degree assault. Even in the movie it was mentioned/shown multiple times that why no one from ISRO came to meet him. And the kind of humility he and his family had to gone through.
How do they know that he sold the technology to Pakistan or not?.... The ISRO scientists now came in front of media to show the false things which showed in his movie.... The movie is made just to show him as a hero and he is the only genius.... But in reality he has only contributed very little.... Because the technology shown in movie was developed by other geniuses worked in ISRO
Because at the time, most of the top officials of Kerala government was against Nambi Narayanan Sir. The scientists probably feared that they would suffer the same fate as Nambi Narayanan Sir if they support him.
Because the ex isro scientist who came against Nambi Narayanan was in jail with him. 😂 lol. Just go through the isro case. In my opinion mr Nambi is milking this as long as he can. He got the money from the gov, he got Padma award, he got a movie for himself and rumors are Modi gov is considering him for MP or governor post

After seeing the movie, it occured to me that the movie main theme is to highlight the wrong detention of Mr Nambi , and probable conspiracy.Other dimensions of the movie are just cinema effects.No doubt there might be many scientists involved in the project and their contributions also may be vital.
Shame on these scientists.... They were silent when his colleague was arrested for a wrong reason but coming infront on media to claim der credit....we love and respect Nambi Narayan ..... SHAME on ISRO AND THESE SCIENTISTS
If you don’t know, one of these scientists was in jail with Nambi and rumors are he suffered more than Nambi. If you are playing victim card know the facts.

My verdict, Rocketry used it's creative license. Indian movie makers always create super hero character who excels in everything, that is what some call heroism. Rocketry seems to turn Nambi into a James Bond like figure in some scenes. This may have led some to believe that Nambi is the sole scientist on whom ISRO leaned on for key projects. The movie doesn't make this claim, it is merely audiences who may have made this interpretation after watching the movie.
Why only indian movie makers? ALL movie makers do the same.

No, i don't think so. ISRO did not help him during he was arrested with false claims. Now also ISRO scientists playing such a shame less role to degrade him. I pray god he should get justice
Abdul Kalam sir also claims SLV 2 and Pokhran but that is also backed by many personnel of ISRO and DRDO. So Nambhi sir also claims VIkAS as he fathered the technology. He did not claim that single handely he invented he said many scientists including IITians were part of that project. In the film due to convenience only 53 scientists is shown. I don’t think that as a sheer exaggeration

Persons who worked with Kalam lived enjoying his leadership style and passion for work. The common saying was if a Cow and Calf were there and Kalam passed that way, the Cow would give Kalam milk first before giving it to the Calf.
He claimed nothing and and never asked for someting, no point comparing Kalam with the rest
@@TennetiSriRam I'm not blaming Kalam for getting fame as a man of missiles and man of SLV-2. I'm also from Tamilnadu where Kalam i have met few times.I have all pride about Kalam. But the entire team is there behind him either he works for ISRO or DRDO. Why can't Nambhi can also claim liquid propulsion engines are his brain child. when the government acknowledges his contribution with a parma bhushan why can't you agree and accept him as a scientist. what a terrible fate he has to undergo. have you watched the movie? are we not just celebration just one Vajpayee and one Kalam just for one missile pokran. why can't we do same kind of praising or celebration for other scientists whoever is responsible for Chandrayaan or Mangalyaan like Anna durai and Akilan or whoever. infact Akilan was also awarded some padma awards before Nambhi sir. why can't we celebrate all scientist or talents in the same way. We should apologize to this scientist for what he has undergone as a fellow Indian and human being. This is my perspective about the whole situation. Firstly it’s Abdul Kalam sir and Nambinarayanan sir. They aren’t our peers or friends to be referred singularly by their.
Those scientists are worried about their share of credits.
But this is much less a price for what he has paid throughout his life to be a part of ISRO.
U r comparing different situations. Its definitely sad to know that Sir, Nambi Narayanan faced false accusations in India but thats not at all related to other scientists who worked in ISRO.
Some of them were his friends and even helped him in foghting legal case, but Sir Nambi taking all merit n credits instead of thanking his friends is clearly wrong on his part.
Basically wat happened in his book he complained about his boss muthunayakam and other internal teams of ISRO.Each one had their personal ambitions were non cooperative.The same names are now complianing about him
Also i wonder why aren't any media channels interested in who actually caused this chaos or framed Nambi sir in the first place? Why is no one interested in that? I know there might be many who are, but it's these media who should bring it to light. Many scientists suddenly popping up to defame the movie (coz they might have been in ISRO at that time of chaos) and still shamelessly weren't concerned of him when such things happened. And when the movie released, coming up with claims like come on they should be knowing something obviously!
The perpetrators behind this fake scandal should be brought to the public and that's when we can say Nambi sir has finally got justice even if that's late!
The film never showed him single-handedly developing the Vikas engine. It says there was a team of 52 scientists. It is seen that the technical work was done by other scientists such as Param, Unni etc.
All these names are backed in book,in fact the welder got his Job offer from french because of his skill.But nambi overruled and the guy when died after in not so great position l
Nambinarayan claims he has designed welding technology, whereas he was in jail. L&T developed these welding technology.😊😊
Where was these bunch of so called friends when he got arrested and humiliated, off course every movies are added dramatic notes, for for “Let me Explain” at 0.36 why you have played dramatic music tune? This kind of journalism is big treat to humanity or nation.

Cool, so where was this team when he was suffering, and was being wrongly accused? If a team was there, if a boss was there, why was one man from this entire team got picked up and rest were silent? Whats the use of such education when this is the quality of ethics they have? Besides read the book "ready to fire" if anyone want's credits and wants to know the team.

If Mr. AE Muthunayagam is the lead of Mr.Nambi, why not he at least try to rescue from Spy case or give some supporting hands.

There may be dramatic version in the film but his patriotism is unquestionable and the Kerala Police of that time acted on behalf of some outside agency to stop India's Space Technology.
Actually...to make any film on great heros.....then obviously we have to add some thing ....so that audience can atleast recognise that.......
In reality movie can show only 1% efforts of these great heros in 3hs......

It was K. Kasturirangan. Another Malayali. He was probably pressured by the antagonists (Kerala govt, Kerala Police, maybe even USA) to not support Sri Nambi Narayanan during the harrowing arrest.
He suffers a lot at that time no one from this came forward and now they are saying he is lier this is call jealousy.
If all the scientists contributions were included in the film the moto of the story would have got lost.
In movie, they didn't say it developed single handedly..Why can't ex scientists openly tell about who is behind the plot created against Nambi for selling technology to Pakistan..they are many questions has to be answered by ISRO.

A movie is a movie. For sure things and events shown in the movie will not be exactly same as real events but this movie is not about the credit . This movie is about the experienced he had faced due to false accusation and GOI had not helped him during this phase.
Most commented after watching a movie. Why should he speak about getting very little financial backing from previous governments now?

First of all ISRO need not respond to a cinema. Second why ISRO scientists did come our earlier - because they are not politicians to intervene everything. Dr Muthunayagom is not just a somebody, he is the father of liquid propulsion technology of ISRO, the founder Director of Liquid Propulsion Centre of ISRO. We all had long years of blessing to work in the same campus along with such stalwarts and Nambi was a different person - nothing in him to motivate youngsters.
ISRO isn't reacting for the movie but tall claims made in it by Madhavan et al .cinema wallahs can't misrepresent facts about prestigious institutions and get away with it. It would set a bad precedent. Already we have gotten used to seeing the police force being ridiculed and mocked at in movies .
