Love seeing this format in such a clean presentation. I think it works perfectly having serge and wheeler as hosts because they both have really clean play and explain moves and strategy and any mistakes they might have made.
I love Canadian Highlander content! I would like to see other guests on as well, such as Alex, Nelson, Allison (the famous Rock player), Blake Rasmussen , or Robin Sorensen
This is correct, but Serge could have cast Shredder and then Mox, which would have allowed the connive trigger. Since Wheeler didn't interact with any of the spells cast this turn, I believe the only difference is the order of the fetch and draw.
10:42 really respect this type of play. I get this isn't like a tourney or anything, but I have huge respect for players who refuse to profit off misplays and rewind all the way back like this where Wheeler even got to return the Snapcaster to hand
These showdowns are fantastic! I've loved all the previous Friday Night Paper fights and Highlander tourneys, so seeing full match ups is a dream for someone outside the sphere
I don't play Canadian Highlander, have no intention to, and don't know what most of these cards are. And I love this content! Serge and Wheeler is a powerhouse of a duo.
Its becoming harder and harder for me to tell if Serge asking Ben about "fish ponder vs moon ponder" is a running joke or he genuinely forgets each time because of the tattoo
Ye it doesnt connive right? Cause the bird has to be on the field when the second spell hits so it doesnt trigger on himself and the spell after it was already the third so it should not count either
@@Robster7 yes you are correct. Let's be real though, if they had caought the mistake they would have just let serge take back the mox cast and everything would have worked fine. Catching it would have been a good teaching moment though.
@@Robster7 TBF he could've cast bird, played mox, connive, then cast the spirit... the main difference is if Wheeler had interaction but he only had R up
I haven't actively played magic in a while, and even when I did, nowhere near this powerful/competitive tier, so, these are great, they massage my brain in a weird way.
Just real quick note serge, when searching with urzas saga in that first game you had pulled aside the esper sentinel. However, esper sentinel can’t be found with urzas saga, the cost is one w not one colorless
@@nickking6525 whoops sorry- I’ve been out of the Magic space for a bit, and the whole “converted mana cost” vs “mana value” vs “mana cost” thing tripped me up a little bit. Sorry!
I liked your FOF Serge, it was a tough choice either way. Maybe adding a land to the young pizzy column but I don’t know your hands and mana leak with 4 lands is rough
I love this thumbnail. Serge looks like he only ever heard someone describe throwing a punch, and Wheeler looks like he may punch himself in the face first. :D
FoF split at 16:45 I probably would have gone Chandra + Basic vs Leak, Fetch, YP; but I do see the value in not allowing Wheeler to keep up Leak through the tax.
I was thinking about what I'd do for that fact or fiction as it was happening, and I came to almost the same conclusion, just move that misty rainforest to the other pile. I like Serge's split too, since Wheeler's already pretty good on lands, making him take more less-relevant cards with his walker has value.
Don't wanna make a big argument, but I would like to see an analisys of the plays and the mistakes that the players do during the game. I think could be an important content to let players and viewers improve even more! Obviously this only makes sense if this is already a goal that you have set for yourself by making this type of video, if u have enough time, etc etc. always enjoy the games, showdowns are great, luv u guys
Hey guys! Love these videos! My one piece of mild critique is that i’d like to see a guaranteed 3 games or perhaps unlimited free mulligans to promote more actual games. Thanks for the content!
16:40 I would split (not knowing whats in either hand though so i have less info than Serge here) Chandra + Leak and Young Pyro + Lands Serge is threatening lethal in 2 turns, so Wheeler probably takes whatever pile affects the board that turn.
At 17:00 i like pyromancer fetch versus chandra mana leak island. Pretty much for the reasons wheeler said. He's at 6, so it's kind of hard for ben* to survive. #engagement
The game one FOF I think I would have split Mana Leak, Young Pyro, Misty in one pile and Chandra, Island in the other pile. Chandra is the best card by far, and if I’m Serge I’m terrified of the play pattern: Chandra, kill Deputy, fetch Mystic Sanctuary and put a kill spell back on top of my library. Putting the misty away from the chandra ensures only one known removal spell. I’m also pausing this video right as the FOF resolves so idk how the rest of the game plays out
I just love the tension of the blue v blue matches. So much thinking. I just imagine they are both doing so many calculations in their heads for every play.
Because I couldn’t really see the other two cars (mana leak and young pecsy) I was leaning toward splitting the same was as serge but I don’t really know the true power level of the cards so I think I’m in agreement with serge based on what I know
towards the very end of the match: obstructionist countering the aspirant trigger will trigger baral to dig one card deeper into the deck to find an out
was so focused on the "pseudo" ramp of t1 Ragavan, t2 attack get 3 mana and maybe cast from opp exile that i somehow didn't realize it also has 2 power O.o
Dominaria United has finished spoiling and it seems you guys didn't get a preview card. I really love those sketches you put on for preview cards, so not seeing one from you was really disappointing. Then again, you have all been really busy recently so it makes sense.
so the deck i entered the format with was mono white and as time went on the pointed cards in my deck kept on losing points which i find very funny (enlightened tutor, stoneforge mystic and jitte is on the watch list)
Afidians? Amphibians? What did Serge call the effect to draw a card? The CC gave amphibians and I don't think that's exactly right. Maybe it is though.
Do you want your creatures soft and your counterspells softer? Then boy do we have a matchup for you!
And your pilot's soul softest?
Love seeing this format in such a clean presentation. I think it works perfectly having serge and wheeler as hosts because they both have really clean play and explain moves and strategy and any mistakes they might have made.
I love Canadian Highlander content! I would like to see other guests on as well, such as Alex, Nelson, Allison (the famous Rock player), Blake Rasmussen , or Robin Sorensen
Allison would be cool. The Rock is my favorite deck right now in Gladiator.
I would love to see Marshall when an opportunity presents itself, as he admitted to maintaining a Sultai midrange deck once upon a time
What a matchup!
These showdowns are the perfect singleton fix, when there's no time to play during the week! ❤️
I like a lot of LRR's content, but this is by far my favourite, always so happy when a new episode is released
At 32:00 the Ledger Shredder shouldn't trigger, as the first spell cast was the Mox Sapphire; the Selfless Spirit is then the third.
Glad I checked to see if anyone else commented lol
This is correct, but Serge could have cast Shredder and then Mox, which would have allowed the connive trigger. Since Wheeler didn't interact with any of the spells cast this turn, I believe the only difference is the order of the fetch and draw.
Cheaty face serge
(you don't have to be that person...)
I almost made this comment, glad I checked

I dig the vibe for showdowns. It's great to hear the thought processes during play.
the "i have a Wheeler..." in the beginning with a cadence implying more people got me chuckling.
Excellent, as always. Thank you.
Lat Nam’s Legacy is an old best card you’re not playing. Turns out, it’s still good!
I would love to see a shuffle tutorial from Wheeler. Absolutely majestic the way he shuffles.
Absolutely adore the sportsmanship and energy you guys have!
I don't play Canadian Highlander, have no intention to, and don't know what most of these cards are. And I love this content! Serge and Wheeler is a powerhouse of a duo.
Really enjoyed this one. Best of these so far I think.
I have been really enjoying these videos. It's making me consider playing canlander myself. Please make more of these
Objectively the best MTG content ever made
Why was this video demonetized? LRR deserves better
Curious, how can you tell if a video has been demonetized?
@@robertabugelis3962 im curious too
I am always looking forward to the North 100 Showdown. Such a blast seeing you two play this format :D
Hey Serge! I did indeed enjoy it.
Thank you folks for making these. :)
Its becoming harder and harder for me to tell if Serge asking Ben about "fish ponder vs moon ponder" is a running joke or he genuinely forgets each time because of the tattoo
It probably a little bit of column a and a little bit of column b
Great match, great people, great format. This is just what I needed. More pls!
I watched 3 episodes of North 100 before this one and Wheeler won each of them... so congrats on your first win (as far as I've seen), Serge! 😄
What a match - fascinating to see two decks that overlap so much and are still so different
Best series on the internet for sure! Really enjoying it!
This is what I needed after a 9.5 hour day with no time for lunch T-T y’all are amazing
Yahoo Serge!!! Loved both decks WOW! Highlander may be in my rotation now.
Always look forward to more canlander content, keep up the fantastic work guys
This is great content. Big fan. Great production and game play
Man this ragavan card seems pretty good. I wonder if anyone has considered playing it in modern or even legacy
This was such a good matchup. Amazing magic at the table
31:45
The ledger shredder was already his second spell. Serge don’t mis-sequence your mox.

Amazing matches! Really enjoying the canlander content, wish the format was more widely played, it looks super fun
More of this! I love the energy these two bring

@@nikomcpherson8394 cant believe you didn't know the exact wording of every card ever printed. Shame on you!
absolutely love these, gotta have my canlander fix every week. thank you!
Finally getting some more Blue Moon gameplay in the LRR Canlander sphere. It's been quite a while.
16:38 That's exactly how I would split it. Good choice, Serge.
I was thinking sort of the reverse, with Chandra and Mana Leak vs Young Peazy and lands
I liked your FOF Serge, it was a tough choice either way. Maybe adding a land to the young pizzy column but I don’t know your hands and mana leak with 4 lands is rough
great set of games! I love watching the control vs tempo matchup
Love the series! Keep it going my dudes!!
Delightful as always!
Commenting as soon as you asked the question: I agree with your fact or fiction split Serge.
Great match, but may i leave a suggestion.....North 100 "Snow" Down
Absolutely love these! Thanks boys
16:15
With Fliers incoming, my gut had the thinking of Chandra+Island vs Misty Rainforest+Young P.+Mana Leak. It's certainly a tough pile
First video I've watched on Canadian Highlander and the format seems really fun! Too expensive for my wallet tho!
That was some amazing magic as always, can't wait for the next one.
Literally been watching can lander videos all week hoping the new one would be soon
I love this thumbnail. Serge looks like he only ever heard someone describe throwing a punch, and Wheeler looks like he may punch himself in the face first. :D
Fuel for the algorithm gods. Thank you for prioritizing some good old boomer magic
Great stuff, love that UW deck
The split was good. I think I would have put a land from the Chandra pile into young pyro and mana leak.

Serge, you and I are on the same page for the game 1 FoF split. That was a tough one.
idk how i wouldve split that
love the vids boys
These videos are so enjoyable!

Black ordered mixed and duals. So jealous I got into playing magic so late.
47:53. The audible gulp from Wheeler is so funny.

Yay, I love North 100 Showdown!
i’m commenting to say i have massive envy of being able to play this format
the chandra to trigger the selfless spirit into stomp was great tech!
Every time I hear Serge say "the same X", I hear the implied Futurama quote, "the same deviled egg"
Hard casting Daze is the ultimate "I drink your milkshake!" moment.
In a vacuum I would split the FoF Chandra+Leak vs Peezy + Lands to prevent giving Peezy food, but with Wheeler at 6 the current split might be better.

Love this Show so much
for the Fact or Fiction split I think I’d go Pyro/2 lands and then Chandra/Mana Leak
More North 100, let's go.
Love this show. I am wondering if there will be other players in future episodes though.
