I suppose you can't argue the effectiveness of the strategy, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
I'm usually with you, but I agree in full with Nick today. Yeah if they don't continue this offensive dominance, all these wins by 30 plus points don't mean anything
They were up 24-7 at halftime in the NFC Championship last year. They had a thing all last season with not being the same team in the 2nd half... they decided that's not going to happen this year.
Some players have incentives written in their contracts. Those players should not be penalized by being pulled from games because the opponents are not competitive.
The only thing nick said that I thought had some merit was the fact that come postseason if teams sniff out their trick plays I can see media members getting on them for being so unpredictable they become predictable
Well I think you have a good point, but I also think Nick, in an around about way , is making a good point too in that the expectations for Detroit being higher will put more pressure on them. I say that not because of the fans expectations but rather because of the players themselves. As a player if you're use to winning by large margins all the time and all of sudden you find yourself going up against a really good team who he is going blow for blow with you, and even takes a lead on you late in a game. Then that can cause you to get really tight or even panicky because you're just not use to dealing with that situation and are not battle tested. I think Kansas City last year did well in the playoffs because they were battle test and didn't take anyone for granted and knew they had to bring their "A" game every time, will Detroit be that way this year in the playoffs?
If they are winning doesn't matter by how many pounts they get paid to win and make the fans excited and nothing does that more than smashing teams to bits
They aren’t even running up the score. The only time they were trying to run it in was Dallas. It’s just executing. And they pull the starters when the lead is insurmountable.
I don’t have a problem running the score up, I just think if they want a good healthy post season I wouldn’t be running starters after being up a bunch especially in the 4th quarter. I think they kept their starters in the whole jags game didn’t they? I’m pretty sure Goff was in the whole time anyway, I could be wrong though. I just seen the highlights of that game
They say that steel sharpens steel. The Lions have the best offense in the NFL, and they're practicing against their own top 10 defense. That's why their so good on both sides. Seems simple.
For the lions it’s now or never. The pressure is real when it comes to the playoffs. Great offense great defense almost close to perfection. If they can’t win this year it is going to be really really hard in get back up next year.
@kidistdemisse7709 It's still not now or never. That's being dramatic. If the Lions don't make it to the Super Bowl this season, it doesn't mean they will never make it. Enjoy the Lions being really good instead of being worried about what may or may not happen.
What I can't understand in all of these shows or UA-camrs talking about the Lions running up the score, the other teams never quit trying to catch up. I've watched years and years of Lions football, they'd be up early and you could tell the offense just relaxed, play calls are not aggressive and boom, the other team catches momentum and we lose. I'm tired of that. It is a great time to be a Lions fan, and I got to watch Barry and Megatron. But those teams never knew how to finish the game. I love it, like it has been said, you don't like it, then stop us! Because they ain't stopping trying to catch up. Better yet, cry mercy and we'll just call the game there.
It's not like the Lions are playing their starters to the end of these games & trying to pile on points. In the two biggest blowouts of the year, the starters only played just over 3 quarters of the game & they barely scored any points once the backups came in bc they were primarily just running out the clock for the entire 4th quarter, only passing in obvious passing situations with the goal of extending the drives to finish the game as quickly as possible. If the Lions were truly trying to embarrass teams & run up the score to the extreme to do it, Campbell could have played his starters until the end & they probably would have easily scored at least another 2 touchdowns in the Jags & Titans games. People were giving the Lions all kinds of grief about challenging a catch late in one of the blowouts, which is also stupid. Just because you are dominating a team & the game is essentially over, doesn't mean you should just overlook a clearly incorrect call, regardless of whether or not challenging it ultimately matters as far as the outcome of the game. The goal is to play the game a certain way from kickoff to the final whistle, regardless of the score.....and relaxing that standard just because you are blowing a team out is an easy way to hurt yourself in the long-run, as maybe then your players start to think....."this team we are playing this week isn't great, so I don't have to take them as seriously as far as my preparation or play as hard every single time I am on the field bc it won't matter since we are almost definitely going to beat them anyways." As soon as you let that mindset creep into the lockerroom of a team that is considered to be one of the best teams, it won't be long before one of the hungrier teams beneath them that is giving 100% effort & not overlooking little details will overtake them or that team will look past an opponent that they perceive to be inferior & it will cost them a win against a team that they could have beaten. When you only play 17 games, every single one of them matters, as the difference between making the playoffs or not often comes down to a single game for several teams every single season. Unless your team is fully bought into the fact that the game in front of them is the most important game of the season, regardless of the opponent & their record going into it, & that the next play is the most important play of the game regardless of the score or situation....and the players play accordingly (exactly like we have seen every single player on the Detroit Lions since Dan Campbell took over), the likelihood of winning a Super Bowl on talent alone with sub-par effort & preparation is extremely low, as the opponents are professionals getting paid to play too....and their livelihood depends on their production, so they are likely to be prepared to give you their best shot every single time, even if the media & fans seem to think they aren't very good or don't measure up as far as talent is concerned.
Nick honestly didn’t say as much bad stuff as I thought he would. He messed up by saying Detroit only beats bad teams and can’t bet a Philly, Buff, Ravens, or especially the Chiefs. He is smoking
I think he’s saying that the Lions must have a set number of points for the whole season and playoffs and the Lions are using them up to early. Which is bullshit. 😂😂😂
He's always insinuating that Ben Johnson is wasting his trick plays, as if ben johnson only has 5 trick plays and now we're down a single one that was used in the jags game
The thing is, skinny beard guy and other analysts would not say things like this about ANY other team in the league if they were in the Lions position. We Lions fans are used to this and the team thrives on it.
They so weak for this man the hate is unreal, but keep writing them checks, and we'll keep getting ours in blood. Nick is a complete, and total 🤡 that finds new ways to to disrespectful us over and over because he knows his Queefs can barely beat bad, and injured teams while we're blowing them all out 😂#ONEPRIDE 💪🏽🦁
I feel like the argument that they are "wasting" their trick plays in blowouts is foolish & short-sighted. The more successful plays they manage to put on tape, the more difficult it makes things for other teams to prepare for them. It's not like once they run a trick play, it's burned & they can't, in fact, run a variation of it from a different look or using different personal & still manage to be successful with it. If anything, the more trick plays they run successfully, the better the chances of their being able to dial up a variation & have success with it. Plus, i guarantee that Ben Johnson has a handful of extremely unique trick plays in his bag that we have never seen the likes of & that he is holding for a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency type situation when a playoff game is on the line & we absolutely need 5-10 yards &/or a TD to keep the season alive. All of the trick plays we have pulled off this season only help us going forward & anyone that argues otherwise doesn't fully comprehend the chess match that is NFL football.
Watch a game. These wins the Lions aren't trying in the 4th quarter. They're playing backups. They're scoring 50 in 3 quarters. Dallas just had this coming.
The lions ran some disrespectful plays against the cowboys but theyve pulled their starters out in all of those games. Are they supposed to knee the damn clock out 12 minutes left in the 4th? "YOURE TOO GOOD THE BACK UPS DONT GET REPS!"
Defense get paid to stop the offense, offense get paid to score points... If the other team aint doing their job cant blame the Lions, they're just doing what they get paid to do. No one would be complaining if the other team did that to the Lions.
No such thing as running up the score in professional sports.edit. Winning does breed expectations. The undefeated pats had a ton of pressure going into the superbowl in 07. Did they lose because of it? Who knows, they did play poorly in that Super Bowl. But they certainly had extra pressure coming from all the games they won. It’s okay ti just agree with Nick when he isn’t saying something silly.
Been a Lions fan my whole life, we were embarrassed every season...now the Lions are winning and you get this stupid take. I couldn't care less what the "experts" say, Dan Campbell and the coaching staff will have a game plan, Goff and the offense will execute the the plays, and Glenn and the D will execute the defensive game plan... special teams...same thing...Go Lions,
This is ridiculous. The Lions don't have anything to worry about for the next 7 games. They are too strong to fall apart. They can lose a couple and they are still in the playoffs. After each game the next 7 games, they win they play next week. They lose they play next week. But in the playoffs, it's win or go home. Running up scores is ludicrous. When you are playing for 60 minutes, you play for 60 minutes. They pull their starters when Mr.Campbell decides. He's the head coach. But in the playoffs, I want the lions to rack up touchdowns. Put your opponent down. Score every single point you can. You don't need to get into situation where you are not in control of the ball and then you get beat by the clock with a last second Field goal. Then it's pack your bags. The Lions are not running up scores. They are scoring. Two different things. If you have to cry about the score, then you know you can't beat them. Here in Detroit, we are the shit sandwich for 65 plus years. Now it's the leagues turn. Doesn't taste good , does it.
The lions are putting reserves in the beginning of the forth...what do they expect the lions to do...put reserves in at half. The suppose to give the other team to come back? Theres no charity in the pros
And when Goff doesn't have the numbers to be MVP they're going to forget all the 4th quarters he sat down in, and if he keeps playing in the 4th, and put up more numbers they'll say he's running up the score, and he's embarrassing them 😂
It seems to me that Nick can’t admit that the Lions are the best team in football. He sets these standards in hopes that the Lions fail so he can say “see, I told you they aren’t the best”. But the Lions are continuing to prove him wrong. It’s always some new flavor each week with Nick….This just isn’t him. There are many analysts who are the same way about the Lions…Constantly finding flaws no matter how far fetched or ridiculous it may be.
How can u hate on us running the score up but the other teams scoring low or single digits and turning the ball over giving us field position guess what you’re gonna get the score ran up on you! That’s football
I will say if we finish 16-1 to 14-3 and seriously beat the shit out of some more teams on the way and we lose nfc championship or before we are gonna be considered chokers in the media. Last year we hadnt won 2 playoff games in like 70 years so that argument didnt make sense. Now they're considered established and they better make a damn good attempt at the super bowl.
If we lose to the bears on Thanksgiving, we will hear a skip bayless level tirade about how the lions season is over and how he was right that the bears are going to the superbowl 😂😂
Could everybody just imagine how annoying Nick would be if Patrick mahomes was having the stats that Jared was having? Like throwing more touchdowns than incompletions for 8 weeks in a row. You'd never hear the end of it from him and we already can't stand him
Who cares what a media guy "expects?" He's one of the guys that ratchets up those expectations by constantly talking about it in typical hype terms, to get attention and earn his salary. Just ignore it.
I want to know why the nfc north is getting so little respect they keep saying they have a weaker division. How?? 3 out of 4 teams are in the top 10 in the NFL.
We have scored a bunch against bad teams like the titans and jags which makes me a little worried but we continue to win just like the chiefs so I’m not really worried cause at the end of the day Goff can throw 5 INTs and still win let’s go lions
You're worrying because that's what you do......... worry. If you found a $100 bill on the ground, you would worry that it has germs on it or somebody is waiting for you to pick it up so they can kick yer arsenal! 😂😂😂

This ability to take away greatness by characterizing them as "plays" are crazy! Yes Ben johnson is awesome, but you know what else is awesome , a running back that runs a 4.3, and another one that breaks an average of two tackles before hes taken down! 20 percent is coaching , the rest is GOD GIVEN ABILITY!! Is it not known that in professional football when you run the ball you are basically telling the other team .....you KNOW EXACTLY what we are doing...stop me! So the lions have been telegraphing their plays for 2 years now...Most importantly, if both Glen and Johnson could be head coaches right now in the NFL, the Lions by that logic literally have 3 Head coaches on our team right now and thats why we are winning in such a dominant fashion! Coaches know they NEED the talent as the talent knows they need the coach...the very reason ben didnt leave this season! ..but the history of the lions is the drive behind this dominance...and when your king of the jungle...nuff said
Ben Johnson uses his trick plays in blowout games cuz he doesn't matter if we make a mistake doing trick. Plays is so dicey. He's not saving all the craziest ones for the biggest moments. That doesn't make a liquor sense and I'm not nearly as smart as Ben Johnson

The only good teams the Eagles face for the rest of the season is the Ravens, Steelers, and Commanders while the Lions face the Bears twice, Niners, Vikings, Bills, and the Packers. 5 of the Lions remaining games are NFC Opponents all while the only good NFC team left on the Eagles schedule is the Commanders and we just saw what they did to them. The Ravens defense sucks and their offense be having identity crisis mid game so that should be a dub and the Steelers offense is mid asf
Number 7 tie breaker for playoffs-Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed in all games.thats why you score as much as possible and F who doesn't like it
If you don't like it, have your defense stop it. End of story
Nick Wrong is expressing his fear of his favourite team (Chiefs/refs) losing if meeting up in the SB
and also his fear of his backup favourite teams losing against our Detroit Lions.
*But even further, Nick Wrong is afraid of his favourite(s) getting blown out!*
Only a NARCISSIST like Nick Wright can sound so apologetic without actually apologizing.
This is a different Lions team I think they’ve learned from their mistakes last year mainly Dan Campbell
Lion team also built an identity for fake punts which makes the opponent use different coverage to guard against it.
It apoears that Nick Wright ascribes to the Skip Bayless "If you can't be naturally interesting, be provocative" philosophy of sports media. This take wasn't the worst we've heard from him, and not even close, really. This is just the latest in his attempts at grabbing as much attention as possible, by whatever means he can. I suppose you can't argue the effectiveness of the strategy, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
I'm usually with you, but I agree in full with Nick today. Yeah if they don't continue this offensive dominance, all these wins by 30 plus points don't mean anything
One thing the lions have always lacked it was killer instinct. At this level, you have to have that to win. Go lions.
Lions Eagles NFC Championship will be absolute cinema
They were up 24-7 at halftime in the NFC Championship last year. They had a thing all last season with not being the same team in the 2nd half... they decided that's not going to happen this year.
Some players have incentives written in their contracts. Those players should not be penalized by being pulled from games because the opponents are not competitive.
The only thing nick said that I thought had some merit was the fact that come postseason if teams sniff out their trick plays I can see media members getting on them for being so unpredictable they become predictable
Yap yap yap...🙄
Ain't no stopping this freight train now that it's rolling! 💪
It is what happens in the locker room that counts, the pressure of press opinion will not be there.
Lion's are playing like they on a mission so yes they better win sb
If they did run up the score, they'd break records!
Now or never? What's your middle name? Dramatic???
@@BamaScorpio69dramatic is when they play like this and lose in the playoffs like last year.
Wildes says “what’s up with this” fixing his hair, he’s always has his hair flared 😂😂😂
What’s crazy is THEY ARE NOT RUNNING IT UP. They take everyone out in the 4th quarter…. They coulda put up 14 more points on all of those games
They are running out of negative things to say about the Lions and it’s not making sense anymore.
Please refer to DCs opening press conference at his introduction. Enough said
nick is a putz
The lions blew it last year. Yes the pressure is on them especially since they're winning by big margins this year
Made up pressure from posters like you and the fake media!
I couldn't care less what the "experts" say, Dan Campbell and the coaching staff will have a game plan, Goff and the offense will execute the the plays, and Glenn and the D will execute the defensive game plan... special teams...same thing...Go Lions,
Hello Nick Is Wrong !! Go Detroit Lions💙
If Detroit beats everyone in the AFC? Including Buffalo. Not good enough, according to Nick Wrong.
Nick has become a scatter brain since getting those hair plugs.....😂😂😂
SO THEY SAID THE NFC IS THE WEAKEST CONFRENCE WHEN TOTAL WINS IN NFC IS 86 AND TOTTAL WINS IN AFC IS 81 SOOOO HOW THT MAKE SENSE
Why don't ppl ask basketball teams or even baseball teams that win 15-1? All teams continue to play. Any sport. Huh, even tennis!
I dont think nick grasps how dedicated this team is to bringing a championship home. Ben johnsons playbook is deeper than nicks nostrils.
If the Lions get bounced in the first round then this will backfire.
What happened in san francisco last year. That would never happen again
The playoffs teams are better than these teams past few weeks… The playoff games will be closer but we won close tough games too
Nick is sucking good air time and is filling it with nothing. Why am I still watching. Detroit fan 65 years
If we lose to the bears on Thanksgiving, we will hear a skip bayless level tirade about how the lions season is over and how he was right that the bears are going to the superbowl 😂😂
Nick feeling the heat from Detroit don't come w that make sure u make the superbowl crap lmao and when we do I hope your chiefs their so we can expose that sorry offensive that only getting by because of the QB 😅
To understand the Nickster you need a rich tapestry...
Lions have no control of the media
FOR TIE BREAKERS THT IS
Nick “Hawk Nose” Wright…………
His argument is contradictory the chiefs games have been so close even against bad teams
Nick Wright is a homer. For the KC Chiefs. & He's hoping they don't have to play Detroit in the playoffs. I seen Michael Irvin have the same energy last year . Nick don't want no parts of these lions . If Kansas City was winning like this he'd be beating his chest
This dude acts like they supposed think like ( Ok guys we don't wanna get people's expectations up for us so lets NOT go out here and play to the best of our abilities.)😂🤣
Nick Wright a Clown! He just look for Clout at this point.
Wtf they supoosed to do with 2 whole ass quarters left BEFORE the 4th. Just kneel it out on the goal line and kick field goals? I dont remember any teams going easy on the 0-16 lions or media saying teams liked to run the score up on the lions. Also, ran a SINGLE trick play against the Jags for 11 yards 😂 this guy doesnt watch the games he just see a clip and thinks "i know what they did"
