This segment again shows what I've been saying for 2yrs now: it's unfair for Brou to debate Nick. Brou is just on a different level. Sure, all the dummies in tv land won't get it, but if you know, you know.
i disagree. there's a difference between "i have 5 insanely talented weapons and 2 of them are injured" and "i have 2 insanely talented weapons and both of them are injured" even with Aiyuk playing bad and then missing time, even with CMC injured, the trio of Jennings Kittle Juszczyk still puts the 49ers skill position group above average. The Rams with no Kupp or Nacua means their only above average skill position player is like, Tutu Atwell maybe? there's a massive difference between the two situations
No, Brou failed to make a point there. It would be a good point if Stafford’s team around him was average while those guys were out, but they weren’t. The Rams offense with a backup O Line and no Kupp/Nacua was bad
@@uta_pn glazing a fullback as an insanely talented player is crazy. Jennings is a WR3, but you just call everyone on the 49ers crazy talented because you’re biased.
@@ItalianStudentDoctor acting like Juszczyk is not one of the best players on the team is dismissive. idk why it matters that he's a fullback? he's a key short down and distance weapon in both the run and pass, as well as being a great blocker, he's every bit as important to an offense as a great TE. Jennings is overqualified to be a WR3, he'd be WR2 on most other teams. Jennings was Purdy's most targeted receiver on 3rd down last year, getting 13yards per catch and nearly all of his catches (22/29) were for first downs or TDs. i don't see a valid argument for not including Jennings when naming the 49ers most important pieces. the guy is always open. that isn't a fluke.

Imagine making the argument in 1999 that the Rams Greatest Show on Turf team isn’t a one of the best offenses of all time because they have a literal civilian, third string, dude was bagging groceries at the supermarket last week, Quarterback in Kurt Warner. What are we doing here guys? Like you can make the argument they aren’t one of the best offenses ever but the reason can’t be “we don’t know if anyone is going to be a hall of fame-er”. Because other than Goff, the oldest key contributor on that team is 25 years old (st. Brown) half these dudes are only a year and a half into their career.
@@samuelgaona7196 yes in hindsight, Warner is a hall of fame player. In 1999 he was a civilian though. @@samuelgaona7196 You're still missing the point. We aren't trying to say Goff is better than Warner. He was "a literal civilian". And for what it's worth, Goff is putting up as good of stats as Warner did in his MVP years this year (which is really what the question is about, this year's offense)
He just mad Purdys last 3 years has been, Superbowl, NFC CHAMPIONSHIP, Injured, Playoffs. NICK JUST A HATER. GOR HIS NOSE SO FAR UP THE CHIEFS AAAAAA..... 😂😂
Nick didn't say he would simply be average, he said and was predicting he would regress into an unplayable player. It wouldn’t be this big debate if it weren't only that Nick thought he was average. He wanted him to fail when he had the players around him like he did in his first two years. Talking about “pumpkin watch” even this year, dude is a hater
Nick obviously wants to blame purdy. Im a niner fan, i watch every minute of every game. The defense is not good this year, the special teams are a abomination, Deebo can't get open, and they are among the most injured teams this year. None of that is Purdy's fault.
Nick keeps saying that the niners have above average weapons right now... who? Jennings, Mason, and Deebo? By no means at all is that above average. The majority of teams have a better group of weapons than that, considering Deebo has not at all been a #1 receiver in years.
@@danithedime cmc has played 2 games, but we’re in week 11. Plus kittle didn’t play last game. Deebo has missed multiple games, Kittle has missed multiple, are you just ignoring that?
Brock Purdy has played very good. Nick praises Dak all the time, said he was a top 5 QB. Purdy is at LEAST as good as him. The PROBLEM with the 49ers is all those highly paid stars haven't played well, the defense is a shell of itself, special teams are atrocious, and the coach isn't as good as everyone pretends he is
I'm tired of Nick Wright not being able to admit a simple fact, really good QBs don't play well if they don't have a good team around them. There are maybe a few QBs at any time that can maybe carry an injured or below average team. I'm tired of Nick and these other haters acting like this wouldn't and doesn't happen to other good QBs when their team around them is flawed.
8:32 I hope everyone realizes what Nick is doing here... When all the "Avengers" were playing great he used that as a knock on Purdy. But when the same "Avengers" are NOT playing great he also uses that as a knock on Purdy LMAO This is the literal definition of a "can't win situation". When the offense is playing great Purdy doesn't get any credit for it (the opposite actually), and when the offense is playing average Purdy gets all the blame. Amazing analysis by Nick.
Matt Stafford is one of the oldest QBs in the league, Joe burrow literally is having one of the best QB seasons this year, not much he can do about having the worst defense, your take is dumb
@@gorcsauce696it’s backing up Brou’s point that even the greats have mediocre years. Saying Purdy is trash because he’s not replicating last year is asinine.

By nicks logic , Mahomes is also a thermometer not a thermostat. Because when the team is awesome around him he’s awesome. And when the team isn’t , he’s not. This has been the first year Mahomes doesn’t have an elite consistent receiving weapon. And look how mid his numbers are now. It’s the defense carrying the team. Purdys numbers are still literally better than mahomes lol. And Mahomes is supposed to be the new goat apparently. Goats don’t all of a sudden start putting up mid numbers
My only pullback with your statement is that the team record plays a factor in this... The fact that they we're the only underfeated team 3 days ago means something. You don't become underfeated with a thermometer quarterback
I used to think that Nick was the pragmatic logical one of the show. But now, it is obvious that Brou is the pragmatic logical, and most consistent one in the show. Brou has less bias and he uses a consistent standard to judge all players in their respective sports. Nick is primarily trying to create controversial takes. At this point, I think Nick is trying to become the next Skip Bayless. LOL
Nick…..Wrong about bears, wrong about eagles, wrong about saquon Barkley, wrong about Jayden Daniel’s, wrong about Sam darnold, wrong about purdy….but hey he got the jets right lol
Well the Lions did score 26 points against that Texans defense while giving up 5 turnovers. 1 turnover was in the redzone, and another was in fieldgoal range. So at minimum, they left 6-10 points on the field, and they still would have turned the ball over 3 more times even if they scored on those 2 possessions. 🤷♂
So last year Purdy had elite weapons and elite defense when winning all the time this year when losing they have above average defense (which is wrong) and above average weapons but yet they kept like 95% of the same team as last year and Purdy is to blame. Mr inconsistency at it again.
since when does he hate Jayden? It's clearly Purdy #1, Lamar #2, Jalen Hurts at 3... he also doesn't seem to hate many qb's but he definitely has like 5-6 GUYS that are his guys
@eastmanfeatures5412 Also, i didn't list these QBs in any particular order, maybe I should have. I'd have Lamar first, Purdy second, and Jayden third if that were the case
I think because as talented as that team always was, they only won 1 SB And they lost in some playoffs they should of won, that's kind of how I was talking it...
1) The 13 Broncos and the 07 Pats had bad offensive performances in the SB, so thats in line with the 18 Rams. The Lions at this pace will be one of the best in terms of raw numbers. Nick makes no sense. 2) Purdy is high in QBR, EPA per play, PFF grade (which does the Wow and Yikes thing Nick likes) so not sure what his point is. The Avengers aren't there and their D isn't bailing him out like Mahomes, who he says isn't playing well either. What games does he actually watch?
Cuz if you watched the 13 broncos, there's no fuckn way on paper or even through the whole year you think the lions raw numbers will be better, no way lol
Exactly when it comes to guys he doesn’t like he just makes up narratives as he goes don’t get me wrong sometimes he gives fair criticism but a lot of times it’s just hate for no reason
Purdy is out there with the practice squad. Entire team is injured. Who is going to be great in that situation. Nick hates for clicks and attention. It takes the whole team. Why is Burriw 4-7. One person can't do it all.
Purdy had 3 tds to Jennings in 1 game No aiyuk,no kittle,no deebo no cmc. Purdy is elite and the only people who cant see that are the casual football fans
Agree with brou, Brock is a good qb, a tier 2 QB. The Niners as a whole have played worse but Purdy has been keeping them afloat anyone who’s watched the film can see that. Purdy has played good all year apart from the KC game and has proved over the last 3 years that he’s CLEARLY a top 12-15 QB at the very least
@ - Drew was great. But look at how many seasons he had with double digit interceptions and his records every year. He was great… but he wasn’t perfect and he had a much better coach with Payton that had the entire system built around Drew.
Now that's a brilliant take from Nick: "QB looks great when team is great, not so great when the rest of them aren't great!" That would explain Patrick Mahomes' numbers and performance this year quite well, given that his numbers are worse than Purdy's. Thank god the defense is carrying Patty, right!
There's a saying when it comes to interpreting data: If you torture the data long enough, it will confess. Nick is not a statistician, he has no clue how to interpret data in a way that isn't riddled with bias. He just cherry picks stats he likes and uses them to fit the narrative he's trying to present, constantly ignoring whatever disproves his argument. And he uses past performance to predict future success, which is also not how it works. It's pathetically predictable at this point and a waste of the show's time. Instead giving game analysis, they have to waste most of the time arguing with Nick's nonsensical takes as he pulls random stats out of his hat.
To Nicks point Stafford didn’t even have “average” guys without Kupp and Puka. The only guy he had who was above average was Kyren so obviously his touchdowns will take a hit for relying on him more. Like his receiving core was Tutu, Demarcus Robinson, Davis Allen and Tyler Johnson. Jauan is better than all of those guys
I know you're referring to the Rams roster. But we can't just ignore the fact that at one point in his career that Stafford has MEGATRON. Shouldn't that be taken into account on how he even made his way to the Rams in the first place? Think of his numbers without Calvin Johnson as your WR1.
@@marlanpete08 I mean to a certain extent he’s done that throughout his years at Detroit after Megatron was gone. It didn’t result in wins but guys were getting yardage, even Tutu had a decent amount when Kupp and Puka were out. He basically got Kenny Galladay to fleece the Giants. Demarcus Robinson has been putting up career stats for himself since he got to the Rams last year. I don’t think Kupp/Puka and to a lesser extent Calvin put up the numbers they have without him. Like all that “superhero” talk is nonsense but I was just pointing out that Brou said he looked bad with average guys like Purdy while Debo, Aiyuk pre injury, Kittle and Jauan are significantly better than what the Rams had at the time.
@@montezzz8721 oh I agree I’m no Stafford hater. I’m just using nicks silly logic against him. I think staff is awesome but I not gonna put a gap between Stafford and Goff like nick has.
@@montezzz8721 Counterpoint: If Stafford is THAT good, then why does it matter? That's the thing yall always miss in these kinda of arguments. If a player is truly so much better than another, then we shouldn't be seeing such a dramatic dive in production even if they're playing with inferior talent.
Nick is so selective and hypocritical with his arguments. He's "not a QB wins guy" unless it comes to Patrick Mahomoes this year putting up terrible career low numbers with career high wins, then wins and "situational football" are all that matters. He penalizes Brock Purdy for needing great weapons, but praises Stafford and Burrow even though they've never shown they can do anything without multiple great receiving weapons. When it comes to Joe Burrow, he constantly blames the defense and kicker for losing games, when it comes to Lamar and Purdy he doesn't care if their defense plays bad or they miss kicks, he puts the loss on them.
Nick just gets absolutely eviscerated in this argument every time. Last summer he was saying Trey Lance is better than Purdy, now he’s saying Purdy probably isn’t gonna me the Hall of Fame, goalposts couldn’t be moved further.
Someone compared the 2024 Lions to the "Greatest Show On Turf" 1999 Rams team through their first 10 games, and Detroit was better in every category. Just sayin.
You said that to say what? Kurt was the driving force and won the mvp that year goff isn’t the strength on his team plus back then the rules wasn’t favored for the offense like it is now so this isn’t even a accurate comparison

9:00 - Brou’s point about Stafford proves Nick’s double standard about Purdy.
i disagree. there's a difference between "i have 5 insanely talented weapons and 2 of them are injured" and "i have 2 insanely talented weapons and both of them are injured" even with Aiyuk playing bad and then missing time, even with CMC injured, the trio of Jennings Kittle Juszczyk still puts the 49ers skill position group above average.

Brou was being facetious because Nick was calling purdy that, he wasn’t genuinely calling Bree’s a civilian…

I know you're referring to the Rams roster. But we can't just ignore the fact that at one point in his career that Stafford has MEGATRON. Shouldn't that be taken into account on how he even made his way to the Rams in the first place? Think of his numbers without Calvin Johnson as your WR1.
But if Stafford is a superhero as nick thinks he is then it shouldn’t fall off drastically. Staffords play should elevate the lesser receivers.
@@marlanpete08 I mean to a certain extent he’s done that throughout his years at Detroit after Megatron was gone.
