Ah see, Uptown always got my head banging. Like whom ever composed this was just a genius for the genre/avail tech. This is why I couldn't rate Sega Genesis, the soundboard sounded like absolute ass, and so much of a game is driven by sound and music.
@@EnjoySackLunch Sam Hyde, really cool comedian. He has a video where he is trying to use googles shitty ok google service to play this ost and it just doesn't work.
Personally, I'd put Super Metroid above both of them. Jurassic Park also has some absolutely fantastic music (the top-down one, not the sidescroller) even outside the context of video games.
I agree with you, but this list has to include the classics of Kirby Superstar and Super Mario World and Earthbound. I mean they were all....genre defining soundtracks. But Shadowrun is top 3 for sure just for how different it was from other soundtracks. EDIT: can't believe I forgot to say Donkey Kong 😅 It should absolutely be on the list of top retro soundtracks as well.
I always wanted to get stuck in and play this and finally bit the bullet at the weekend. It must have made a dent in my head as here we are, listening to the soundtrack at work. Thanks for the upload!
This game was released when I was 17 in 1993. When debuted, I and a lot of my cohort ignored it because most of us RPGers where only interested in Sword and Sorcery themed RPGs at the time....now 8,000 years later I took a chance on the game via a Retro-Pi and it turns out I was entirely mistaken back in the day. Give it a shot. It will be worth it!!!!
You had a rad childhood. I was a ps1 kid and didn't get to snes till I was 15 and Shadowrun felt like a certified classic in a good way. This OST stuck with me for the last 14 years
loved playing this game on a Friday and Saturday night. the soundtrack kicked ass including the music from the clubs was cool. but personally I liked the chat window music.
It really added to the atmosphere of the game when you were having dialogue with the games strange characters. Almost was kind of scary playing when young in the dark.
@@HunterShowsI have a full playthrough of the JP version of Shadowrun on my channel. But short of it; The JP version of Sneshdowrun is slightly larger, I wanna say a few different sound effects but not many. The ending doesn't have any of the text boxes from the enemies ( _i.e. Drake saying he'll see Jake in Shadowrun 2_ ). All text is in English but it comes with Japanese translation, certain buttons are remapped, the intro is laid out in a better consistent way. And the text scrawl at the beginning is word for word straight out of 1st Edition Shadowrun pnp rulebook, describing the setting of Shadowrun through brief history. Also the only way to enter the debug room in the JP Shadowrun is through gameshark because you don't get the matchbox at all.
And it's that easy. See, the Google Pixel does me right, every time
For anyone curious, this is from Sam Hyde's Google Pixel review video

Almost impossible to listen to GUNFIGHT without adding UGH UGH UGH BOOM BOOM BOOM UGH BOOM BOOM BOOM UGH UGH BOOM UGH AHHHHH!!!
Thanks for this! Shadowrun is one of the most atmospheric games ever, and in a good part due to it's soundtrack.

Shady conversations and seems familiar stuck in my head since I was a little boy back in the day.

SNES ShadowRun and Super Castlevania IV are the greatest soundtracks in SNES game history... absolutely love Funky Conversation + The Cage
I agree!
Personally, I'd put Super Metroid above both of them. Jurassic Park also has some absolutely fantastic music (the top-down one, not the sidescroller) even outside the context of video games.
Earthbound would like to have a word with you
Tales of Phantasia 🙂

"my brain feels burnt..."
what a way to start a game...
The main Riff in "Schism" By Tool sounds alot like "Shady Conversation" 12:39

That song is literally burned in my brain and sometimes, I try to replicate it with my mouth.
Excellent - thanks for doing this. One of the best SNES OSTs!
Enjoy!
The best!
Uptown always gets stuck in my head to this day.
I just started playing for the first time and I'm definitely going to play this in a dj set - such an insane banger
I like this soundtrack, very Case. As in Case from Neuromancer.
a literal perfect soundtrack for a literal perfect game!

Unforgettable memories getting everything in the game except that damn zip gun!!

Why is the "Japanese" version of the Seattle 2050 song so long?
The Japanese version has an extended text scroll explaining more in detail the setting. In the US version is only a small text splash screen.
