🤤Oh how I love the sweet sound of a NA V10 S85…however I do not miss that pos SMG transmission in my old V10 M6 …I still have nightmares of the BMW Dong 😂
@@iissac22aftermarket bearings and you won’t have to worry about the engine ever again other than the vanos… also there are aftermarket smg pumps which are way better than stock and makes it more reliable than when it came out of factory
Stupid waste of my 15 mins... Just a big commercial for the shop. No mechanical content at all... I guess it was too much to hope a BMW owner was actually going to get his hands dirty.
the love and the sacrifice you have put into this project and the beauty you have gotten from it (nothing is more beautiful than the sound of a V10) I think you should be nominated for a noble peace prize. Lol
Dude, bearings are brand new. You have to do running in process before doing high rpms! Also you went straight ripping it to 8k rpms, probably on cold oil. Not long until bearings will give up with that rate.
Streten from M539 restorations also did his rod bearings on his E60 M5, he said that it's fine to rev out the engine. You don't need to worry about some break in period.
You don't need to break in the bearings, since there's no metal to metal contact, just the thin film of oil between the bearings and crank. Agreed on revving too high on cold oil though
I don't know how BMW can claim to be "the ultimate driving machine" when rod bearings are a maintenance wear item! BMW hasn't even come with a permanent and bullet proof fix for this? F1 derived heavily implies top notch tech, durability and speed. As nice as that M6 is (and i want one) it seems like a pain in the a$$🤨
Do not straight pipe this for the love of god. Louder doesn’t mean better they already sound terrible with cheap exhausts it’ll just give them a worse rep
@ ive never heard or seen one in real life unfortunately , i just like to watch youtube videos about them. ive never truly realised the sound difference between them, only the screaming V10. but of course each car is different compared to the other so im sure there’s a difference i just never realised. i would go for an eisenmann exhaust, atleast if i ever own one.
I wish yall could mess with my 09 is250. It’s in such good shape but it isn’t fast car worthy lol but I do have lots of mods for it. And I get it this more a bmw channel.
put a heatpad on the oil pan before you start the car, this engine was designed in cooperation with Sauber racing and it should be treated as a racing engine
If I could afford it, I would add one of these to my collection. Glad you decided to keep it.. How much were you asking for it before all the work, if you dont mind me asking?
Love the build, but if i were you, i would put on an exhaust from Eisenmann, instead of just straight piping it! Keep the work up :) Greetings from Germany
you say at the beginning of the video that you want to have the original factory defective motor bearings replaced. they are not defective from the factory. it's a general service part you change on many bmw m engines at about +÷100,000 km so it's just a wear part like everything else on them, not defective, made from new.😊
On the M5/M6, BMW made the factory rod bearings way too tight of clearance so they should be replaced around 50K miles which is pretty low. Most aftermarket rod bearings for the S85 have extra oil clearance that way they last much longer than 50k miles. In 2010 BMW revised their rod bearings for the M5/M6.
With a BMW its not how it will break. It's about when it will break. I am now terrified of owning one after the sort of cost that comes with owning one. A BMW as a daily driver is fun as long as that warranty lasts. The minute it runs out run for your life.
You realize you'll face this with ANY car right? This isn't just a BMW thing. Also having this as a daily driver may not be the smartest thing if you can't keep up the repair costs. Same rule applies with a Lamb or Rarri.
🤤Oh how I love the sweet sound of a NA V10 S85…however I do not miss that pos SMG transmission in my old V10 M6 …I still have nightmares of the BMW Dong 😂
These cars are basket cases to say the least…but while they are running 100% which is rare they are very enjoyable 😂
I dont understand how they can justify the high prices, with it being so unreliable. Dont know how to get past rod bearing and trans issues?
Sounds good but it’s pure junk …don’t walk run away from this bmw junk 🏃
@@iissac22aftermarket bearings and you won’t have to worry about the engine ever again other than the vanos… also there are aftermarket smg pumps which are way better than stock and makes it more reliable than when it came out of factory
Never straight pipe this engine.... Do an X-pipe of so 100% better!
No brainer haha I agree for all cars
12:45 the intake sound is amazing, you can hear that v10 gasping for air.. amazing.
Pretty sick checking that off the bucket list. I can’t wait for more n63tu content though
To be honest i never knew what a spun rod bearing ment until I watched this video,
Cool
Amazing V10 sounds.... Well done!
My favorite bmw channel
When you use a torque wrench you have to tighten it from the handle for it to click at the correct torque.
This thing sounds absolutely unbelievable
Patience is a virtue
Ecs and turner and literally the best 💯 shout out to them FR
Is there not a break-in period for rods? just wondering
no break in for new rod bearings
break in generally is for rings/sleeves as they need to seat to create a compression tight seal
@ ahh makes sense
Goad the first start sound❤️
why was bro daydreaming when the shop guy was talking
fr 😂
because booooring :P
I was too
Guy was spitting knowledge. Id shut up and listen too

Each time the have to say an engine, the f1 derived high revving v10 engine
Please dont straight pipe
Plz don’t just straight pipe it long tube headers to a X pipe then straight pipe it its gonna be crazy loud but sound amazing
2 X pipes👌🏾
how much did you paying for that ?
No straight pipe - keep it original 😁
Did u just say massive?
LOOOOOOOOWWW
Please straight pipe it 🙏
Manual swap is a must
The real question how much did it cost to fix that ?
Probs free or cheap because it’s promotion for the garage too soo they probably come up with a deal
shop is top notch
The sound id amazing 🤩🤩🤩
you should add a porsche like exhaust setup to make it sound higher pitched
I think bulletproof it's not a good word for bmw engine)))
@2:19 i mean n52 would be the last na straight 6... before v8
bro really forgot about the n52😒😒
Maybe break in the engine before you rev it to the moon.

Interesting channel 👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Sadly it is nothing to do with F1, it was just marketing
The bearing shells are consumable...would never own one. Still nice to look at!
13:08 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO poor v10
Do they do something in this vid ? Last few were boring
Please don't rev cold engines. It hurts 😢
Disappointed you didn't do the bearings yourself. Seems to be going against what the spirit of the channel is. Boring video

Plz make 335i content plz
I love how the M6 starts feels like it takes longer than any other car I’ve driven 😂🏁
Hey, put Lubrication Engineers oil and lubricants in that BMW. You will not regret it. It'll save that car front to back.

ur the first person is history to say the S85 V10 engine sounds bad… 😬
@ I said they sound bad with a cheap exhaust or straight pipe. I own a M6 and I love the sound of it lol that’s like 70% of the reason I bought it
@ have you heard how raspy they get with a ghetto exhaust
@ i assume its because straight pipe is too loud right? eisenmann is probably the best exhaust.

Please stop calling the M6 a supercar. I drive a Panamera turbo which would kick the M6's ass but its no supercar.
lol the M6 should genuinely be considered a supercar and the M6 will always sound better than your Hybrid car for 🐱. not even a proper porsche.
