I am so lazy to write reviews but after watching this one I felt I should appreciate for knowing all the info I want to know in a very short time. Excellent presentation in very short time. Clear audio, video and language.
Very informative Tony. I just had one of my subs ask my advice on gas grills earlier this week. I gave him my advice, but also referred him to you since you get to test and cook on so many different types of grills. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! Wishing you and Paris a wonderful weekend brother!!!
If you want to add a nice crust after cooking use a creme brulee or small hand held propane torch. Works really well with a little melted butter. Remember to cook your steaks less to allow for the heat of torch searing.
Had a weber I really liked bear tore it up,I bought a Fuego element the cooking surface is wider than the circuler pull out greese catcher the grill is tapered and slotted so greese drips out onto controle and deck, also the low top wont close to cook beer chicken to little clearance
I have a Vermont Castings that has served me for many years but now it is time to look for a new grill. Just wanted to say you did a great job on this video; good visual, audio, and script. Very informative and helpful for me in making my decision. Thanks...
+jwrtiger I am glad it is helping you in your research process! Nothing better than finding the perfect grill for your needs, let me know if you have any questions :)
I love the Weber gas grills but I am disappointed in the Summit line. I have a friend that bought one a couple years ago and he is now getting rust spots everywhere. Apparently, Weber no longer uses the higher quality 304 stainless in their grills. Better off getting the porcelain finish version in my opinion. I decided to get the Blaze based on price and performance. It is built with 304 Stainless inside and out. I love the quality of this grill and it cooks fabulously. I ordered the rotisserie and seer burner with the grill and came in below the price of the Summit. I recommend getting a quality digital thermometer such as ThermaWorks so you can accurately check temperature where the food is at.
thanks so much as I AM looking for a good quality Gas grill for my yard which is VERY small6X3. I bought a tank 2 yrs ago and still have gas in it due to me having a cheap table top bbq. I haven't finished watching your video and hope it mentions rotisseries as well!!
www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/professional-27-inch-built-in-propane-gas-grill-with-rear-infrared-burner-blz-2pro-lp This is a great choice for small spaces. It has a rear infrared burner for rotisserie cooking & an included waterproof rotisserie motor kit.
Awesome! We're glad our video helped. You might want to check out the newest version, completed a couple of months ago. ua-cam.com/video/nDZSef_XJK4/v-deo.html
Really informative video, Tony. I had a gasser, years ago, that had Lava rock near the burners. Kinda' liked it, but it rusted out on me in a big hurry. Are manufacturers not really using lava rock anymore?
I'm a better than average cook...i love to grill all year, snow or sun. I spend an average of 250$ a grill every 2 to 3 years. Everything on the grill is fine except the parts that you need to cook ie. Burners, grates, flame tamers. I would like a suggestion on a grill that can outlast these grills with a guarantee even if I have to pay more.
Unfortunately I have not had the chance to play with one of these. It does look nice and it's cool to get the island portion along with it. We just have no experience with the performance of the grill .
Yes, we have several grills that offer hybrid cooking. The main thing to pay attention to is if you want to be able to remove the infrared burner & swap for conventional when you have times that you want your whole grill conventional. I like to reccomend people think about getting a Blaze grill: www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/32-inch-4-burner-built-in-natural-gas-grill-with-rear-infrared-burner-blz-4-ng with an infrared burner accessory: www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/infrared-searing-burner-blz-irn Once you remove the cotter pin that the grill burner ships with, swapping from conventional to infrared doesn't require any tools. Lynx offers a great hybrid grill as well, but the burner is not able to be swapped for conventional once set. www.bbqguys.com/lynx/36-inch-gas-bbq-grill-built-in-natural-gas-with-prosear-infrared-burner-and-rotisserie-l36psr-2-ng
@Tony Matassa - Good stuff! Very helpful. Also, you sound very much from Louisiana.. am I right?EDIT: Nevermind. just looked at your channel and saw all the other LA related videos.. lol. great channel and video production. Pls keep it up!
Hey Tony, great vid. Some advice if you can. I have a back burner and rotisserie ( standard not infra red) when I cook with them should I have the lid open or closed for best results? I’ve tried a chicken with lid down and looked good but raw inside slightly? Have I answered my own question? Any advice I’d be grateful Andy
Thanks Andrew! I would say if you are struggling to get the chicken to cook through, don't cook with the lid open. You want to take advantage of the convective heat circulating in addition to the back burner so that it cooks through. Do you think if you would have cooked it more through, the outer skin would have burned? If so, you could always finish cooking the bird through once browned with your far left and right burners on, rear burner off. That way you can finish it more oven style, to avoid burning the outside. A good instant read thermopen is always a huge help, chicken is hard to judge!
BBQGuys.com thanks for reply. I thought the same as you and kept the lid down. Yes the skin was burning. I can’t remember if I had it on lowest heat. Other bbq’s without back burner I would put meat ( whole chicken, leg of lamb) on warming rack and as you say outer burners. I might do as you say and finish that way. Also try lid open and then try one on lowest heat. Trial and error I guess. Heat seems too direct. Thanks for advice and reply
I thought the requirement for a gas grill was to be 36-inchs away from wood or combustible material. It appears that yours is approximately 12inchs at best away from the wood siding. Is this particular model insulated so it could be closer to wood or combustible material ? If so , what is the particular minimum clearance on this model ?
Hi Bob! This video was shot on our showroom floor, so this grill was not actually a working grill when filming. The closeups of the grill being used was this model however a different grill installed and location of functioning outdoor kitchen. Sorry for any confusion.
@@BBQGuys thank you for the reply. I've been in the gas industry for over 35 years and I just found it a little concerning that the original Grill pictured was not installed to Industry standards. I was not sure if a new model was developed with different standards. Thanks for the clarification. And always the installation manual is our best source for best-practices & installation procedures.
i am trying to decide between a gas grill and a Green Mountain pellet grill. I have tasted food from both. I was kinda disappointed in the GMG. The reason is.... the flavor seemed to not be fully developed on the GMG. And the turkey for Christmas was disappointing to say the least. It looked good, but lacked flavor. I used to have a Dukane gas grill. When I wanted to smoke something, I would add the flavor of wood that fit the food. ... What are your thoughts?
If you are after smokey flavor & tender juicy food I would recommend a Kamado Charcoal grill. They are incredible grills, most of our customers pair their gas grill with a Kamado because they can use them as a smoker for something like brisket as well as a great charcoal grill. I agree, pellet grills do not produce as much flavor as a charcoal smoker. www.bbqguys.com/bbq-grills-smokers/kamado-grills
Thanks for the reply! ...why can't I add wood wrapped in tin foil? ( and achieve same results) Also, after looking over your site, am I correct in my conclusion that the Blaze is your best made models?
Blaze is a great choice, they offer a lifetime warranty & they perform very well. As far as wrapping wood in tin foil, you may be able to achieve some smoke flavor that way, but smoking on a gas grill will never compare to smoking on a charcoal kamado. The amount of moisture and temperature stability kamados bring to your food when smoking low and slow is really unmatched.
Sir, you seem to be quite the expert. What grill do you have at home . Please let me know. That's the grill I'll go out and buy. Finish/ problem solved! :)
I have a DCS 36 in. Gas Grill & a Blaze Kamado for the charcoal end. Love them both. Are you looking for a specific size? This is a great option too for gas for a more reasonable price. www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/lte-40-inch-5-burner-built-in-propane-gas-grill-with-rear-infrared-burner-and-grill-lights-blz-5lte-lp The DCS was an old display model from our storefront for a good deal, if I was buying at retail price I would go with Blaze as far as bang for your buck.
For exterior, we like this cleaner www.bbqguys.com/magic/17oz-stainless-steel-aerosol For interior, the more seasoning on the grates the better in our opinion! Keep your grill seasoned like a cast iron skillet and things wont stick as bad to the grids. If you ever have baked on spots on the exterior, easy off oven cleaner can be great as well. The grill in this video was our showroom, so it was super clean in the inside because it hadn't really been cooked on.
I don't agree that the rear burner is only good for rotisserie, I have a hi end Webber and found to make awesome pizza on the BBQ you need that rear burner to brown the cheese.
I have not personally cooked on the Char-Broil Performance. Make sure to consider how thick the components are, not all stainless burners are created equal, that is for sure. Porcelain coated grates will not be as durable in the long run, and their burner tube style will not last as long as a thick cast stainless burner. Are you mainly interested in infrared heat to prevent flare ups, or are you interested in searing over infrared? www.bbqguys.com/phoenix/grill-pfmg-black-propane-gas-grill-head-on-black-pedestal-cart This is a great grill when it comes to not having to worry about flare ups, it also has a good low temperature smoking ability for a gas grill.
It helps disperse the heat as it rises, and prevent excessive flare ups. With a grill like Blaze, you still get plenty of heat on your food because it is a premium grill with high BTU output.

My Weber grill the paint coating on the inside lid began to peel. One day I.noticed some of the grill marks on my steak was actually paint chips. Never again will I buy a non stainless grill.
Your video had a lot of information but was mostly geared to higher end grills. Not much of anything was useful for someone with a budget of about $500 for a new grill. I only cook for 2-3 most of the time. I will often also grill a meat and some veggies too. Ocasionaly I may cook for 5 or6. Currently I have a chargriller grillin pro, 6 years old sub $200 from Lowe's. Its rusting to bits, I want someting better this spring. What is your opinion of Weber Spirit e310 vs Broil King Signent320? Both are available to me at Lowe's and seem of much better quality than what I have and around 500$
Between those two, it seems the Signet 320 would last longer because of the stainless steel flavorizer bars. The main issue with Weber Spirit is the porcelain enameled parts, which is one of the reasons Weber makes a lot of money selling replacement parts. I would suggest putting your hands on the grids/ burners/ ect of the Signet 320. A lot of times a grill can claim stainless parts, but upon close inspection they are made very thin to cut cost. I always try to suggest a grill with as much stainless as you can get.
BBQGuys.com Thanks! I was really nearly set on weber. America's test kitchen and consumer reports rated it high, but I'm not liking finding out priduction was moved to china on weber's entry level grills. I learned about Broil king from Lowes web site and on line. Seems like they are made in US or Canada. Quality seems good from sales material and reviews. Only issue is my local Lowe's store doesn't show it in stock and it may be an online item but im hopping as spring comes they will have one I can get my hands on. I want to use a bunch of gift cards I got for xmas twads it so Lowes is where I prefer to buy.
I'm now looking at the broil king site and Lowe's site. The Baron 420 would also be in the $500 range. Seems if Lowes doesnt display them a local hardware store is a dealer so I maybe be able to put hands on them there.
BBQGuys.com thanks for your help. I ended up with Weber spirit e310.. Really wanted to se the broil king model but not able to find a local dealer to see before buying. So far I like the Weber and found some aftermarket stainless parts to replace the enameled flame tamers when they wear out.
You bet! We carry gas grills in all price ranges - you can find out top-rated models by price range at www.bbqguys.com/bbq-learning-center/top-rated/best-propane-grills. Give us a call if you have any questions!
$200 and grabbed a 28 burger BBQ grill porcelain coated cast iron might not be the best or have all the toys But my lobster is 1 day fresh and the maple syrup and ice wine is from the vineyards down the street 🇨🇦
i just bought a E-310 spirit weber grill that has porcelain-enameled cast iron grates.. i don't want to scrape off the porcelain with metal utensils so i plan to use wooden utensils. i also plan to clean off the grates with a piece of wood and see how that goes. i intend to clean this more often than my old grill. it was a char broil and it lasted 15 years. this new weber grill set me back $500.00 and i intend to make it last as long as possible. it was a very good informative video and reinforces my purchase of this new grill.
Last, LAST thing to keep in mind is cost. Hybrid and infrared = EXPENSIVE like around 1000. Gas grills (even good ones) can cost under $200. Kind of an important tid-bit not discussed in the video.
Hi Mack - there are some pretty big differences between grills that sell for $200 and those that sell for $1,000 or more. You might want to check out our current article about this: www.bbqguys.com/bbq-learning-center/buying-guides/how-to-buy-gas-grill Thanks for watching!
What do you think about this grill? www.homedepot.com/p/Dyna-Glo-5-Burner-Open-Cart-LP-Gas-Grill-in-Stainless-Steel-and-Black-with-Side-Burner-DGF510SBP/206278563 It's affordable so I can easily replace it in a couple years, which is also why it doesn't really matter that it uses porcelain-coated cast iron. I intend to mostly use it for parties so the large area and 5 burners is great. What do you think? Thanks!
For ones, this guy make sense. And that's not common when it comes to American BBQ's folks. I'm actually surprised how many Americans that don't know a shit about BBQ even if they think they do....does.....
My name is Francesco. Six months ago I bought Evolution 5-Burner Propane Gas Grill in Stainless Steel with Side Burner and Infrared Technology at Home Depot in Katy TX and my experience with the grill has not been satisfactory. In fact I want to return it and buy another brand. I am a fan of grills and with this grill it has been fatal for me. The starter has failed me, the paint has been stained, the tires begin to peel off. It does not heat enough. It takes a long time to reach high temperatures to seal the meat. It has many air intakes and it is not efficient to heat. It loses a lot of heat. I had to seal the air intakes with aluminum foil. the ink of the letters is erased when you wash it. very small wheels and they lock. the grill is running with propane gas. already try a new cylinder and opening the key slowly and even heat is not enough. The problem with that barbecue is the design, it has many air intakes and a lot of heat is lost. As you could see in the photos I sent I sealed the air inlets to gain a little more efficiency, but even so it did not seem enough to seal the meat. I do not like that a barbecue cooks the meat instead of sealing it. for that it requires a lot of heat and that the ruts absorb the heat to seal the meat. I had never had this problem with my previous grills. I thought that with nexgril it would rise in category and it was not like that. I have barely 6 months with the stainless steel grill and the painted parts are already stained and covered with aluminum foil to avoid losing the heat. It does not look good for such a short time of use. It is not easy to move on irregular surfaces nor do I recommend it for gardens. This is my experience with only 6 months of using it. I do not recommend it and I would not buy it again. I want to return it to the store. Dissatisfied.
The Blaze 32 is a great pick because it is built solid with all stainless steel, cooks well and has a lifetime warranty. It's hard to get more bang for your buck than this grill. www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/32-inch-4-burner-built-in-natural-gas-grill-with-rear-infrared-burner-blz-4-ng I like having this pizza stone accessory as an option as well: www.bbqguys.com/blaze-outdoor-products/14-3-4-inch-ceramic-pizza-stone-with-stainless-steel-tray-blz-pzst
Are you asking about where it is hottest at grid level? Typically grills are a little bit hotter in the back corners because the sides & back of the grill keep more heat in as compared to the front, where the lid opening lets out some heat.

Thanks for the awesome video, it makes everything easier!
Great to hear, Zayne!
Excellent, informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
doesnt the perforated sheet also shield the meat from the heat?
It helps disperse the heat as it rises, and prevent excessive flare ups. With a grill like Blaze, you still get plenty of heat on your food because it is a premium grill with high BTU output.
Thank you Tony!! You are super knowledgeable!
Thanks for watching!
Great well presented video not confusing or hard to understand thanks BBQ guys

Hi Tony, can these grills be used for indoor cooking?
www.bbqguys.com/item_name_ProFire-30-Inch-Indoor-Propane-Gas-Grill-PFINDOOR-LP_item_2126276.html This is the only one we sell currently that can be indoor, it works really well! ua-cam.com/video/IbUfxasV5wo/v-deo.html
Thanks bro..excellent presentation
You should know before you buy a Char-Broil grill.. if you have a gas leak on one of the valve, you will be forced to purchase all
of the valve set.

very informative Tony. I'm still rolling with an old Weber genesis I got on Craig's list for 40$. makes for a great outdoor griddle!
+White Thunder BBQ Thanks man, that is a steal of a deal!
My Weber grill the paint coating on the inside lid began to peel. One day I.noticed some of the grill marks on my steak was actually paint chips. Never again will I buy a non stainless grill.
@@rebellucy6200 weber doesn't paint their grills - its enamel
@@rebellucy6200 it's probably carbon build up
Your video had a lot of information but was mostly geared to higher end grills.
Good stuff! Glad you are putting your gift cards toward a grill :)
BBQGuys.com thanks for your help. I ended up with Weber spirit e310.. Really wanted to se the broil king model but not able to find a local dealer to see before buying. So far I like the Weber and found some aftermarket stainless parts to replace the enameled flame tamers when they wear out.
You Guys Really need to see how the Aussies do it, especially the Tucker BBQs.
Now this is all nice but, are there grills that will last that will not cost you an arm and a leg....
You bet! We carry gas grills in all price ranges - you can find out top-rated models by price range at www.bbqguys.com/bbq-learning-center/top-rated/best-propane-grills. Give us a call if you have any questions!
Well done
"Grilling real estate"? Any chance of having that translated into English?
What Tony means by "grilling real estate", is the amount of square inches of cooking space a grill has.
$200 and grabbed a 28 burger BBQ grill porcelain coated cast iron might not be the best or have all the toys But my lobster is 1 day fresh and the maple syrup and ice wine is from the vineyards down the street 🇨🇦
Thanks for the video this is very helpful :)
Glad it helped :)
i just bought a E-310 spirit weber grill that has porcelain-enameled cast iron grates.. i don't want to scrape off the porcelain with metal utensils so i plan to use wooden utensils. i also plan to clean off the grates with a piece of wood and see how that goes. i intend to clean this more often than my old grill. it was a char broil and it lasted 15 years. this new weber grill set me back $500.00 and i intend to make it last as long as possible. it was a very good informative video and reinforces my purchase of this new grill.
Glad to help! Yeah, good call on the cleaning, should prolong the life!

You might want to check out our current article about this: www.bbqguys.com/bbq-learning-center/buying-guides/how-to-buy-gas-grill

What do you think about this grill?
www.homedepot.com/p/Dyna-Glo-5-Burner-Open-Cart-LP-Gas-Grill-in-Stainless-Steel-and-Black-with-Side-Burner-DGF510SBP/206278563
It's affordable so I can easily replace it in a couple years, which is also why it doesn't really matter that it uses porcelain-coated cast iron. I intend to mostly use it for parties so the large area and 5 burners is great.
What do you think? Thanks!
Well it really depends on what you're looking for in a grill. You should give our experts a call and talk through your options! 844-250-7320
Thanks
For ones, this guy make sense. And that's not common when it comes to American BBQ's folks. I'm actually surprised how many Americans that don't know a shit about BBQ even if they think they do....does.....
Glad you like the video!
Charcoal only no outdoor oven allowed at my house
What is your favorite all around gas / propane grill ?
BBQGuys.com Great / Thank you
That is a badass grill
Shark song
where is the hottest part of a gas grill??
Are you asking about where it is hottest at grid level? Typically grills are a little bit hotter in the back corners because the sides & back of the grill keep more heat in as compared to the front, where the lid opening lets out some heat.
How to choose the best gas grill:
First, buy a charcoal grill.
There is no second step.
The right grill is a 22" Weber and it burns charcoal.
go charcoal. forget gas. lol
Smoking on a gas grill? Please devulge....
Smoker box accessories can be used with an indirect heat setup. Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/2Mlv5FDGp_E/v-deo.html
