Just the best grill with so many options also has a flat top Blackstone type grill. What else do you need. This is very helpful! I am looking to upgrade from my tiny tabletop charcoal grill (that i can barely cook 6 burgers on) to one that will make having company over less stressful and grilling a family meal easier and less overwhelming. With all the options out there its hard to know which ones are worth the money and this has help make that clearer to me. Thanks so much for all the advice!!

    try to grill weekly - it's therapeutic btw ; P By the ocean - even the best stainless steel grills will corrode faster than you would expect - save your money and get a smaller, 'mixed stainless' 'Weber' Home Depot type of grill that's 1/8th of the price of the fancy ones, and replace it every 7 years it if it's looking tired - I rarely BBQ for more than 8 hungry people - when I do, the kids can eat first while the adults are having another glass of wine ; P . I've long since forgotten about fancy mesquite wood and indirect heat - get some vegetable baskets and seafood / fish baskets - KEEP IT HOT and SIMPLE ok.....much of it is in the marinade and the quality of what your grilling anyway - treat your grill with olive oil and keep it clean - save your money for the best cuts of fish and meat..... Get your Sea Bass, thick Filets and artichoke hearts on....

      To bring "flavor" to cooking with a gas grill...you can employ other methods like marinades...and using wood chips/chunks. Yes, charcoal grills are going to bring a well defined flavor to anything cooked on it...but again, you can use wood chunks & chips on a gas grill to bring actual "smoke" flavor to your food. I have a 6-burner gas grill and keep Cherry, Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, Oak, and Whisky chips/chunks on hand to compliment meats, fish, and vegetables I'm grilling. I also use a small pot of water on the grid when using smoke to infuse cuts of meat that will be cooked low & slow. The added moisture in the cooking chamber helps deepen the smoked flavor.

    One think you did not cover (in my opinion) about "cooking style": do all grill allow low and slow temperature cooking? Premium grills tend to use more performing burners (i.e. H design), but does it mean they scarify in terms of cooking style versatility? I am considering to switch to the Blaze Professional or Blaze LTE grills, but I am not sure if they would allow me to cook a pork butt at 230F for 8-9hours. Thanks in advance for your answer!

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  3 роки тому +1

      So that ends up being kind of tricky to qualify on a gas grill. There's going to be a theoretical lowest temp with all the burners set as low as they can get buuuuuut you can also just turn some of burners off entirely. In general gas grills are ok at indirect low temp cooking (put the food on the side where you've left the burners off) but not so great at whole-surface low temps.
      More total burners would give you more control of how many of them are on at one time and in that case the LTE would do better than the LUX.
      Both of them allow the low setting on the valves to be adjusted and that's a great feature as well.

    Hi, thanks for your video and I am looking for some of your expertise to answer my following question: I know how to calculate BTU per square inch for the primary grilling area, but some of the most highly reputable and expensive grills like Weber have a low BTU per square inch like 70, where many experts say that the most efficient grill must have 80 to 100 BTU per square inch. So, what are the main factors to consider for buying a new grill? Thanks in Advance

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  4 роки тому

    Great post...my theory, as with anything else in Texas, go big or go home. Find the biggest grill you can afford, as long as you can regulate 4+ burners. I typically cook for myself during the week, but have family over on the weekends. If I can us just a 1/4 of the grill during the week, im happy. I'm also looking for plans, or any ideas for an outdoor spit, to cook a couple goat, or hog....any suggestions? Thanks.(edit)...do you guys have a top 5 gas grill selection? thanks.

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  5 років тому

      We actually cooked a whole pig on the Blaze Pro rotiss in this video: ua-cam.com/video/SS4FQSaSqHk/v-deo.html
      We sell several rotisserie kits for gas grills, but If you are going with open flame style, I can't really recommend rigging that up above a fire, because the electric cable would have the chance of melting. This guy has a pretty awesome setup: ua-cam.com/video/XRA3RGsZpj8/v-deo.html He protected the motor from direct heat with that sheet metal.

      I have a Weber Genesis II from around 1998-2000 that is still in good shape. I use a natural gas grill more recently but I still pull out the propane Weber once and a while. Still going strong.
      I'm now searching for a grill I can build into a structure and am torn about doing another Weber or building in something like the Napoleon.
      The Weber seems on par or slightly a better deal when I factor in all the accessories that come with it. Torn.
      In last thing, when I bought my Weber, my parents gave me a bit of money to help and they said they had several others, like Charbroil, that never seemed to last and they didn't want me go though the same thing.
      BTW, their older model is also still working just fine.
