I think that’s cause those cars were more slippery. These cars are are wider and have more aero, hence more drag. That’s also the reason these cars are faster
Coulthard had 378 I think in old Hockenheim layout. Electric engines are great for acceleration, but bad for top speed. And yes, the gear ratio is a problem. Having to chose 1 for the whole year saves money I guess, but also saves top speed. The same ratio for Monaco and Monza...yikes.
You can also ask MotoGP riders who experience it in every single lap of almost every single race, not only once in a while. Just to mention a racing serie that doesn't race on drag strips.

Just looked it up, The top speed is 372km/h by Montoya, Monza 2005 but no video unfortunately. There is a video of Sergio Perez hitting 370km/h at the Mexican GP
It's more difficult to get to high speeds now. Slipstream is now weaker and cars are heavier, needing more distance to get to the same speeds as before.
