For those of you that can only get your cameras to work on your mobile pro app on wifi and NOT on your mobile network when you are away from it ... delete all the cameras on the View Pro app on your cell phone and then set them up again using P2P configuration. Worked for me. Hope it helps someone.

are you able to use third party apps like tiny cam pro or live cams pro to connect to this camera? I was able to connect it via tiny cam pro but am getting super grainy/low quality video.

DO NOT change the user name and password until AFTER you successfully open the Startup screen...... The instructions are quite vague on this, almost prompting you to change the username and password at step 5....... Leave it default, the APP will ask you after the Startup to change them.......... An hour on the phone with tech support , and they didn't even know this!
Yes! I had problems for a while until I decided to just leave the default username/password. Then it connected and I changed the camera credentials afterwards. What kind of QA dept do they have?!

You made me totally relaxed and confident I can do it. One question, can I set up a second camera if I order another? Would that one also show up on the app in my iphone. I do have an android tablet so I can view it from both as long as I download the app? You can set up multiple camera and access them all using the same app. Each camera operates independently. Each camera will have it's own unique QR Code or Device ID.

I have a few basic questions:
1. Is the camera always on and transmitting a video image, or is it only transmitting when you're actively viewing the camera? I am concerned about bandwidth when using multiple cameras.
2. When you changed the password, was that for the camera system or for your wifi router?
3. How and when does the camera record? Is it always recording to the SD card? or only under certain conditions. If I want 24/7 recording, and do not want cloud based storage, can I do this on the SD card if it has sufficient capacity.
4. Can I change how often I record in order to save on disk space. In other words, can I choose to record every second, or every half second? Something other than the standard 30 fps?

Ive inserted an SD card in my 2 cameras. I dont quite understand how to record a loop, as if were in the cloud.
This is, I intend to record a continue loop so If I want to check what happened lets say 30 minutes ago I can browse in the bar and search that time.
What happens in fact is that I press the RECORD button, it generates a small recording and thats all...
Am I doing something wrong or the camera wont accept a continuos recording loop?

I have it working as long as I'm plunged in to a Ethernet cable to my route an can vue it on my Android phone But I cant get it to work just with on wi-fi to my android phone.
Were you ever able to get it to do Push Notifications?, where it notifys you when it senses movement. It works for me on the computer but not on the phone.

Got a question I have the Amcrest 720 wifi and it works fine. But recent after about 2 months of usage when I get a motion notification on my app and I go to view it I get a fail to connect message. I am able to view the camera live but unable to view the motion notification. It just start doing this about 3 days ago please help if you can. Thanks
Hey I was wondering if I could have the footage from my cameras saved to either my computer or external hard drive? I thought that might be the NAS recording option but I wasn't too sure. I'm trying to get familiar with the software before receiving the cameras.
Short answer is yes
Longer answer is this unit can be configured many ways so there isn't just one way to save the footage. There are also many ways to administer the camera. The fancier administration often cost money. I like Surveillance Station by Synology or QNAP. There are less expensive alternatives out there too like using your computer.
Picking the software you're going to be comfortable with will take some time and research since there are quite a few options.

Same problem as others. Camera connects to WIFI but live action won't connect. Now I get "User Locked". Tried to contact Amcrest Customer Support at the number indicated but was placed on perpetual hold by their ant-customer service department. I followed the instructions to the letter and now I'm holding a piece of sculpture which does nothing. What do you recommend? I plan to return it in a couple of days.
I studied it for a long time. Where's the video recording. I plugged in the EVO 32G card and couldn't find it.
What best practice to play recorder (archive video from this camera on tablets or smart phone) it is special format for recording default Media Player can't play
To convert it to a common video format, use Amcrest Smart Play. It's free and can be downloaded from their support website.

Love this camera. Easy set up. But i can only get it to record motion to my ad card when I'm connected to my home wifi. If that's the only time it records motion, I don't understand the point?? Please let me know if you have any advice.

How did you get the camera to work on cellular so easily you did not configure port forwarding?
How do I set up the recording function? I have a 64 gig memory card in the device and I have the 4 hours of cloud storage but when I close the app on my phone it stops recording? I also am having a very hard time locating my video footage on the am rest app itself. It just keeps saying no recorded file found? But I know for sure that the recording is there. Each of what you described are configured separately.
The easiest is recording to the phone but as you saw recording stops when you close the app.
Recording to the microSD card and cloud would take a min to explain. It's something I'll have to make a video about

I think it's enough. I would suggest monitoring it. Let's say it was just you watching the camera at first. Later on you many want to record it to a server elsewhere. Or if 5 more people want to watch it at the same time. All this will increase bandwidth usage.
So you can be connected to different wifi networks and it will work? So let's say the camera is in a warehouse connected to a network and you are at home it will work

I don't know much about the 960H. I've only used the Amcrest CCTV (a closed system) and this 1080P IP camera.
Please excuse my English, i am trying to do my best. I bought that same security camera and is working perfectly, now i need to put another camera in the front of my house and i bought Amcrest IP2M-844EW, my question is. Can I put the second camera on a different routers or have to be the same? I have two routers and all are connected to the same internet modem.

I think it requires their cloud service, which I haven't used.
I would use by a client router in order to get in wire and after 100 mt back to wifi by access point. Is it possible use the app by this two router device in the middle?
short answer is yes.
if you don't have anything obstructing like a firewall I don't see an issue.
Does it support Cloud Upload to Google Drive? I don't want to use cloud services from additional companies i don't know.

Unless you can access Google Drive as an FTP, the current firmware on this Amcrest doesn't have an option for it. You can always save to your FTP or your computer and have that folder sync with google drive. But, that opens the doors to other hassles.

I moved my camera from one location & deleted them to set up in my house on a different wifi. I could not get them to pair with my wifi there. It recognized the network i put in the password but it wouldn't pair w/either of them. I am now traveling and have the ssn w/me to scan. Can I set the cameras up while I'm away? I think I did this before. How can I do this pls over the internet?
One more question. I don't have my pc with me while on vacation, but I was able to set up my camera for remote viewing from the android phone. I would like to use motion detection and notifucation, but was told that would not be possible without port forwadind from a pc and downloading the device manager file from their website. I was told the only option would be to insert an sd card and thereby be able to access whatever was recorded on the sd card from my phone. Is this accurate, and if so, once the card is filled up would it automatically re-record over the old files, or would I have to delete them manually from my phone? Thanks.
I actually don't remember. I still use Amcrest camera but stopped using their app. Because I use a 3rd party solution, I have to create port forwarding rules.

This amcrest security camera is excellent & easy to set up, it will basically guide you thru, watch the u tube videos , takes a few hours to run the wires, very good day time camera vision, night vision good to 15' a lot more with I. R. Illumination, very good value for the money.

I’m the Amcrest Smart app open your device then click the gear settings icon. One of the option that will come up is Share Device. This allows others to view the camera but not change settings.

You can use wifi or network ethernet cable to connect to this camera. This camera is rated for indoor use only. Amcrest does sell outdoor units too. This unit comes with an ac adapter for power. It does not get power over ethernet.
I have two cameras. One (white) was set up a year ago with SD card as storage method. Amcrest app playback never worked. The other one (black) was set up yesterday. I updated the black one's firmware as I set it up. Amcrest app playback works on the black one similarly to the PC configuration. All settings are the same between the two cameras. I will update the white one's firmware to confirm its the firmware that solves the playback problem in the app
After double checking the two cameras' playback function on the app, they actually both work. However, the black push notification alert does not function as swiping the notification opens the white camera's motion alert, which does not have any videos to play. The white push notification has been working as expected though.

The configuration is the same? Phone won't see the Wifi of camera but the wifi of a router put 100 mt far from it. Does the app gives the possibility to put IP address dns etc?
I think it would be a good idea to compare the Amcrest to the new R2 Foscam as far as picture quality, night vision, viewing angle ect..

When viewing in Safari, you can view the recording under the Playback tab. There, at the lower right is a save icon. Specify the start and end time you want then click the save icon.
I guess you can have the camera managed by a network video recorder if you want to keep it permanently recording. That way, you can keep expanding the storage.
@awkwardhamster this scored number one on a website I was checking to find the best security system. do you find it works just as well when you are far away from the home?

A possible bottleneck would be Internet access and speed. If I set this up in China, I'll probably run a high performing VPN and pay for faster Internet that isn't DSL.

Can this camera be powered from a cigarette lighter inside a locked car? Can it use a WIFI hotspot accessible from within a garage? My detached garage has an electrical outlet, but the intruder would cut the cord if I left the camera outside the locked car. Can I monitor an intruder with motion detection and in very low light situation? Thanks!

I think so because it's using peer to peer setup.
Speed is variable, depends on the quality you want to view. If you lower the quality, it'll use less bandwidth.
You can set it up even if there is no internet and have it record to a computer.
We are trying to set up a second phone. I go the the add connected device, tap on p2p set up, scan code on bottom of camera, gave device a name, put in user name and password and it says device already exists. Please help!

We are a small shop located out side the city and we have No internet access Yet, except that we are using a wireless router from Hauwaiwi to get WIFI to all our computers, cell phones and tablets. I wonder if we can connect this camera to this wireless router that has a SIM card inside.
One final question if possible, How many GB data pack do you think this Cam will consume per month (approximately)

Yes it will work but I wouldn't recommend it because streaming video will consume a lot of bandwidth. Even if you stream at lower quality it'll still consume a lot. About 2GB a month for SD video watching 3 hours a day.

What about all the reviews in GP that talk about how bad this app drains the battery in their phone? I found the 'pro' version taking my battery down fast so I disabled it. Any fixes??
Coincidentally, I spoke to Amcrest yesterday about their app in disarray. They are working on a unified app. They didn't say when that will be released.

You can add more cameras. I don’t remember to max limit but it’s higher than 4.
Amcrest is good but I recently got more Wyze cameras because I needed 6 at low cost and easy upkeep.

Hi. This is an indoor camera. It is not weather resistant so I would not place it outdoors.
Seems so simple I try different ways and nothing I'm not sure if is the app or the camera but I don't get the next option it gets to password and user name when I type all that doesn't five me the option to press next

For the P2P setup on the smartphone, you added the camera by either scanning the QR code or adding it by the Serial Number?

Interesting. I do not know why the QR code didn't work. People have been telling me about it in more frequency these past two months. If you're willing to message me your camera's serial number, username, and password, I can see if I can access it from my end.

I found the setup very easy for local access but for remote access via any other app or Web browser to the ip this one is almost impossible to figure out. I have 3 existing foscams that I thought were a pain but they are a dream compared to the amcrest so far. Thank you for the reply!

Thanks for the video. Im looking for the security cam that i can access through our phone but i have a question, the memory that you can only use is 32gig, is the camera saving the video? What happen if the memory card is full, it will stop to take a video or the camera will overwrite the old video? I hope you can answer my questions. Thank you
Currently my camera broke. Before it broke I was able to record to sdcard and the camera will automatically delete old recordings to make room for new recordings.
AwkwardHamster oh i see. So once the memory card is full it will automatically deleted. Sorry may i ask why is it broke? Is it not good quality?
I suspect the camera fell from where I mounted it. I had it mounted above the TV using a gorillapod. And if someone stopped or pulled on the power cable hard enough it will drag the camera down.
I would still recommend this unit. Worked great when I really needed to go back and review the recordings on the SDCARD. I use to schedule the recording to help save on storage space. I don’t remember if I tried sdcards larger than 32gb.
I saw it went in sale again over the weekend. This is one of the best 1080p camera out there for those that way to control everything themselves.
AwkwardHamster but i can view the live video on my phone right even im at work? And there is a too way audio that i can speak on my phone and the can hear it in the house? Am i right? Because i badly needed a security can that i can check on my phone, there is a 2 way audio and can delete old videos so the video will continue
The camera will automatically delete the old videos so it can record new ones.
What I demonstrated in this video is to allow me to view the camera when I’m at work. There is 2 way audio. Not loud like a music speaker but loud enough to hear in a quiet room. Microphone is decent.
I just ordered one of these from amazon. I believe I should have done a bit more research before clicking on the buy now button. One of the main things I wanted this camera to be able to do is alert me on my iphone when it detected motion. Am I missing something, or am I correct in thinking it doesn't have that capability? I haven't seen immediate push notification like iCamPro but if you enable email notification, that could be a workaround. I haven't used their cloud service so not sure if that has push notification.
Overall, I would enable e-mail notification then use the app to browse the recordings based on time range. Their recording browsing interface is very easy to use and practical.
I appreciate your quick response Hamster. After reading most of the user manual, I do believe you are correct. I will hopefully be able to set up the email notifications, and that should suffice.

I got a gorillapod to use with this camera. It's mounted on my TV so I can point it downward towards the floor.
You can't turn off the camera other then unplugging the power adapter.

In my iPhone I go to configuration, General, Notifications. search AMCREST and allow notifications.
then go to the app, look for PUSH Notification, configuration.

Yes, it can record video, can record to the unit if you put in a microSD card, can also record to your Android. Reads up to 32 GB microSD HC cards. 64GB cards are trickier so let's just say it reads up to 32GB.
