- At Fatima, Our Lady offered her Brown Scapular to the world. She offers, but we have to place ourselves under her mantle. Ultimately, her “mantle” is Christ Himself. On account of her great maternal love, she promises to protect those who faithfully wear her Scapular and to bring them to salvation. She is all-powerful with God and is therefore able to fulfill this promise. It is important for us to know the origins and history of the Scapular and to bear in mind the context in which she gave it to St. Simon Stock: a mother to a son who found himself and his order in great peril. Many saints have been very devoted to the Brown Scapular. We should never treat our Scapular superstitiously, but rather ever grow in our Marian devotion, pray the Rosary daily, and live chastely according to our state in life. And Mary said my sorrow is above any sorrow. Is there any sorrow more than my sorrow. I say no. You are not the only one who lost her sons. Saint Monica prayed 20 years with tears for her son. The task is great.
Let us not forget how The Blessed Mother emphasized praying the Rosary. When Lucia asked if Francisco would go to heaven, she said "Yes, but he will have to say many rosaries." This, The Blessed Mother said about an 8 yr old child. How many sins could Francisco have committed? Compare Francisco's relative innocence to we adults..... If Francisco needed to say many Rosaries, we adults who have sinned for decades - both in small and large ways - must have to say thousands upon thousands of sincere Rosaries. Begin now with a daily Rosary and increase the number of Rosaries as The Holy Spirit directs you. Before beginning the Rosary, pray a petition offering 'this Rosary for the Glory of God and for all sinners and for my own obedience.' Other petitions can be said, but ALWAYS for the Glory of God first.

Divine Mercy is a hoax. Sister Faustina was very delusional , proud and even sounded like she was greater than Mary and that Jesus loved her more than any other creature.. Well no humility there at all .

I also wanted to add, Our Lady is not the Savior, this we as Catholics know fully, despite what some say. What Our sweet Mother does do, however, is assist and is to smooth the way for us on the way of Calvary. She is spouse of the Holy Spirit and she also is the dispenser of grace as she showed the incorrupt St Bernadette at Lourdes. When she opened her hands before Bernadette her jewel like rays came from them, and Our Lady explained to Bernadette who asked what they were that these were the graces God had given her to dispense to his children, but she added that sadly they were wasted, as no one seemed to wish to receive them. So, if you need a special grace to overcome some fault that is displeasing to God and can't seem to succeed, or want to attain help by going to Our Lady it is the surest way to succeed. Hail Mary, full of grace.

I like to think that Mary, (Full of Grace) is like the prophet Elijah (who was taken up to Heaven). She left us the Scapular like Elijah left Elisha his cloak. Just before Elijah is taken up, Elisha asks him for a double portion of God's spirit, then, as Elijah is taken up in a chariot, Elisha receives Elijah's cloak. Elijah's mission, if I'm not mistaken, was to fight idolatry and turning the people of Israel back to God. Our Lady of Fatima asks that the people return to God.

I wore the brown scapular for a while and after a long time in perpetual mortal sin and wicked life I stopped wearing it. See even the fear of hell is a grace . God and Our Lady will not be fooled.
Thank you, Father, for mentioning anyone can call on Our Lady and wear the Brown Scapular. Sr. Lucy made it easy to consecrate to Our Lady by a short prayer promising to wear the Brown Scapular, say the morning offering and the daily Rosary. Our Lady said Jesus wanted to use Lucy "to increase devotion to My Immaculate Heart" She promised "Salvation to ALL who embrace it."
It seems in 100yrs devotion to Our Lady has been Institutionalized. Rather than leading to conversation and Catholicism, it is now taught become Catholic then develop devotion to Our Lady. Thus we see why the message from God was delivered to a 10, 9 & 7 year old & not an ecclesiastic.
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Oh clement, oh loving, oh sweet Virgin Mary. I read on the website of the Sisters of Mount Carmel that saying The Rosary daily is not a requirement for obtaining the scapular promise. It’s in their FAQ section. Which is correct?

So, anything goes. There are so many different messages publicized by people with different opinions; often conflicting opinions. I trust the Blessed Mother and pray for truth and guidance.
The Virgin speaking prophetically at Fatima, urged the daily Rosary and the Scapular. To be enrolled with the scapular is to consecrate your life to Mary. There is no better devotion to Mary than to imitate her virtues and heed to her admonitions --correct? One would think that being a disobedient son towards your given mother is not going to get you anywhere with the Father.
Is it allowed for laity to make brown scapulars? Must they be a certain size? Have certain words? Images? I know they have to be of brown wool, but what about the strings?
Marie Katherine I purchase scapulars here www.scapularmakers.com/page2.html. They also sell materials for you to make them yourself. So far as I know, there is no minimum or maximum size and they don't need to have the scapular promise written on them. Hope that helps.
Although the Holy Rosary daily is strongly recommended, as a Secular Discalced Carmelite (OCDS) I tell you that it is not the only way to satisfy the obligation of prayer of those enrolled in the Confraternity of the Scapular. Find and read the book published jointly by the Discalced Carmelites (OCD) and Ancient Carmelites (O. Carm.) titled 'The Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel: Catechesis and Ritual' (AD 2000). It is official and comprehensive.
Most of us pray the Holy Rosary Daily as Our Blessed Mother asked when she appeared many times at Fatima to the 3 children for the Conversion of Souls and repentance of sins for the Holy Pontiff and Religous Clergy throughout the Universal Church. Our Blessed Mother warned that unless this was done daily many souls would be led to perdition by their shepherds as we are seeing in the Churches today.
Please help me and remove the fear.

Our Lady cares so much for us and is in constant prayer for our salvation, she only wishes to bring us to her Divine Son, Jesus Christ. Just like you wish to bring people to Christ, only she is His Mother, the most August Queen of Heaven. I don't understand how you can't see this...keep in mind the miracle of Fatima, this was a stamp of authenticity of her apparitions there and her messages. The authenticity comes from God Himself.

It's as if Mary is only the mother of her Son's humanity but not His divinity. You only need the intellect of 10 year old to understand if you cooperate with God's grace. Anything in the heart which praises and worship other than God, is an idol.
If anyone truly believes that by wearing a brown scapular Mary will " bring them to salvation" is truly deceived. This is what happens when you believe doctrines and teachings that are no where found in the Bible.
Coming from someone who bases their faith off of a book, that a heretic changed to fit his own beliefs and to mislead millions. Who gave you that book? Who translated it? The Catholic Church. Wearing a scapular and praying the rosary will not save you, but they will bring graces to turn one away from sin. These tools are our armor and our sword. I love you and forgive you brother. I’ve been where you are. You’ve been mislead by people who have no authority to teach scripture or anything about Christ. Or anything about the one True church if Jesus. I pray for your conversion, and all if those who are mislead due to the pride of Protestantism.
