The meaning of this ceremony for all who are asking:
    1) Otto is presented with all his titles; the monks claim that they do not know him.
    2. then the titles are reduced, but the monks remain ignorant.
    3. the recurring question arises: "Who seeks entry?" Answer: "Otto, a mortal and sinful man."
    Only now, the entry granted.

yes, an empire in which wanting more local autonomy would result in an execution, and in which the poor would starving and forced to work for inherited absolutists, in which even the rich girls are forced to follow ridiculous rules and serve the power-hungry rulers.

    • @adrianh.3102
      @adrianh.3102 4 роки тому +24

@PRINCE KRAZIE: That goes for any Kingdom or Empire, but unlike some, quite a few were caring benevolent rulers. His farther though known for crushing rebellions did care for his subjects and reportedly wept at the losses he heard of during World War One. No less was seen in his son. Which many as you can see in other segments of his funeral are seen. As for “ridiculous rules for girls” well the same standards where seen for men as well. Look at the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. As for notable and beloved hapsburg rulers, look at Maria Theresa and Franz Joseph. Ironically it was also Franz Ferdinand who wanted to give more autonomy to a very multi-ethnic empire. To an extent so did Franz Joseph yet also feared too much which would end up fracturing the empire. Contrary to much belief, quite a majority supported the empire especially in the Balkans. Anti-Serbian riots shook across Bosnia Herzegovina, with many Croatians (or could also be Slovenians) being the first join the call to arms during World War One. Viewing the assassination with great disgust.

The term Deutschösterreich was not used only by the german nationalists but by everyone. Funny fact: The anthem of the republic was written by our first prime minister Karl Renner who was a social democrat. You can find it on UA-cam, it is called "Deutschösterreich, du herrliches Land".

Yes, I always forget the distinction b/t beatification & canonization, & I've never quite understood it. You're either a saint or not. They Church is only acknowledging a fact that God has guided them to in their infallable discernment. Karl I was certainly a wonderful man & his wife seems to have been his equal. Maybe he will do more good as a saint rather then as an emperor re: the future of Europe.

@jimbob1969 In that single comment, you show you know nothing of what the world was like in (or before) the First World War. Basically, the whole world was preparing itself for a conflict. Germany kept amassing a huge navy - the British tried to top it at least for double; France increased her armies; Russia tried to expand her influence in China and Turkey; Austria tried to assert its power in the Balcans... I mean, it was a melting pot. War was kind of inevitable - but could have been avoided.

In my experience many Germans prefer to refer to themselves by their pre 1870 identities, ie: Bavarian, Franconian, Saxon - the one exception possibly being Prussian.
I don't want to get into a tit-for-tat discussion about how many (or few) people died in the extermination camps but the figure of six million is based on an analysis of surviving German documents.
The figure, that applies only to Jewish victims, is considered by some historians to be a conservative estimation.
