Makes me hyped about the F-Type🔥 But really? Chewing gum with your mouth open like a cow with a camera 1 feet from your face, makes the car at least the most charming thing in the video😅 Awesome video man, cheers!
I went to the California jaguar dealership and had a terrible experience with them. I dropped off my Jaguar because it kept going into limp home mode. After about 2 months I got a call saying it's been fixed. I payed them and when I got in my Jag it was still in limp mode and I havent even moved it out the dealership yet. They wanted to charge me again to repair it. I called the business bureau on them and then they started being alot nicer lent me a free jaguar xf and fixed the problem in about a week for free.
They actually had the nerve to say they wanted to charge you again to repair it after they already charged you and didn't repair it? I would have posted this all over the Internet for that kind of treatment.
Love how different your content is! I just acquired a 2021 F Pace SVR so we share the same engine. This engine is prone to fuel injector issues so it’s not a bad idea to run some fuel injector cleaner through it every 3 months or so. I was recommended this by several members of the Jaguar forums and it seems to work wonders.
Good car choice. Love the F-pace. Especially in SVR form. Really enjoy the interior upgrades they do with the SVR line. You are correct and I agree with he injector cleaning. Thanks for checking in!!
Good honest review and very helpful to me as I go about my search for an F-Type R. You've given me a few additional things to check out that I wouldn't have thought of. Thanks
Two years ago I bought a 2015 F-Type from CarMax. Got a great price since the original owner took all the depreciation. I've driven about 10,000 miles since then with zero problems. When I purchased the car I also bought a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. The CarMax warranty has tons of exclusions as well. That's true of about any used car warranty. They're really only useful if your transmission falls out of the car while you're driving. I did need to order a replacement key and that was only.....$400.
Must be quite the key. I don't know we will encounter anything cheap on these cars. It is cool that most bits are specific to JLR. Until it breaks and you need a replacement part.
@Dave NC I’m about to purchase one from CarMax in a couple days and get their warranty and after reading the entire contract I don’t see any exclusions outside of common maintenance items (oil, brakes, windshield etc). MaxCare is an exclusive warrant (anything not on the short list of exclusions is covered) so I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Hopefully I’m not missing something here!
Owned jag xf in the uk for 4 years, few minor things went wrong but the dealer here fixed everything under warranty no questions and gave me replacement car during this period. From start of buying process to the car going back they were excellent, any time i went to the dealer they offered me lunch amd drinks, so great service. Very poor reflection of the brand in the states I would say, only great things i can say about them here 👍
I bought a 2015 F-Type R back at the end of July. Mine only has 17k miles on the clock, and has been a blast so far. Fingers crossed, no issues yet, although I have had to deal with some trim issues. Like yours, the window trim had started to come up behind the doors. I just cut the old double sided tape out from the under it and put new 3M double sided tape in. Problem solved. My car was originally a Florida car, so I had to deal with some sticky trim/buttons inside, which I've mostly got solved now. My headliner also failed as the foam and glue had melted in the Florida heat and caused it to sag. I spent a few hundred buying a used headliner from a wrecked F-Type and having it installed. My next project is installing an Apple Carplay kit, which should arrive this week so I have some modern infotainment and nav. I only have a 6-month drivetrain warranty on mine provided by the used car dealership that I bought it from. When I pull the car out of winter storage next Spring, I'll have to shop for a warranty, as I'd prefer not to get hit with a big ticket repair bill if something goes wrong when I start driving it more next year. I'm not dealing with the Jag dealerships, though. I have an exotic car specialist near me that does work for a reasonable price, so they'll be taking care of it.
You spend $50,000 on a car at a dealership that is certified pre-owned and within 24 hours they won't fix a trim piece? What a bunch of hooey! This is why I don't buy cars from dealers because they're Crooks. Plain and simple.
MANY PEOPLE have experienced this with Jaguar. My engine blew many years ago on my S type R had a warranty and they didn't want to cover. I love certain Jaguar models but they really need to figure out reliability aspects of their engines.
Very good video however the O2 sensors are covered by a 96 month/80k mile factory warranty. The start date for a Jaguar warranty begins when it is first registered to a private owner not while it's a demo. Trim parts are not covered by any manufacture extended warranty, and typically not covered after 12 months/12k miles. You bought it used but new it was close to $100k so to repair it will cost more, i.e. you bought a car that isn't mass produced therefore don't expect O'Riley's or Autozone to have knock off parts for it. Parts are limited and they are not stacked in a warehouse in every other state and they come from overseas. Pulling on any bumper skirt in the corner of any make will have the same effect. Car bumper skirts are not made of steel anymore. The next time you pull on an exotic/high-end vehicle make sure it's not made of aluminum or carbon fibre. You will hate yourself for the repair bill. CPO warranty's are very short and start at the end of the original warranty. If you plan on owning a car like this for any length of time a better choice would be to buy a warranty that is longer that is accepted by a local dealer. The local Ford dealership would have had to back it up. I just had my '15 F-type R 30k mile service done at my Jaguar dealership. It was only $286 dollars. They also check the rear end alignment at no charge if it's in specs, mine wasn't and they aligned it for $130. You should not skip that check and I wouldn't take it to Pep Boys for a $69.95 special as the kid probably has never had one on the rack before. Your car drove, stopped, and performed well. I agree it had a cosmetic issue and a leak at a rear-end sensor but calling it broke is a bit dramatic. Welcome to the world of high end cars.
Thanks for the experience and response. I would love to know where you have info on the first registered owner vs the in service date. That would be great info. They are amazing cars. I hope your enjoying yours as much as I am enjoying mine.
@@PerformanceOnWheels Hi, Jaguar changed its policy to include demo in-service dates beginning in 2016. This was done to coincide with the '16 model year because they extended the warranty and included oil changes that year in order to try and sell more cars. The other problem was that the cars were sitting on lots and they needed a way to forecast future warranty costs. The biggest problem Jaguar had was USA dealers would "demo" the F-type in order to drop its price and move it off the lot. I had a '14 V6S F-type that was $84k new, but it was "demo'd" with 600 miles on it and the price was $72k, it had sat on the lot for 8 months. Bought it at Jaguar Cary NC. The difficulty for you will be finding a service manager that knows this as most will not and will point you to the current policy. Parts for F-types can be found in England for a lower price most of the time even after shipping costs. My parts usually take 2-3 days. Rimmer Brothers is an excellent source. rimmerbros.com/SubCategory--Jaguar-F-Type--m-13569. Also I suggest Paramount Performance for tuner parts www.paramount-performance.com/jaguar/. Most of the e-bay sellers are at the same price as your dealer. Jaguar Atlanta parts department is very aggressive at pricing. I owned my '14 for 4 years and not one thing broke. I bought my used '15 R because it was a specific color and had carbon ceramic brakes and sunroof delete. The only repair was an O2 sensor replacement on the cat under emissions warranty. The body panel you were pulling on is aluminum which is why it was "flexible". Any body panel repairs should be done at an Certified Aluminum Body repair shop. The only body panel made of composite is the hatch. This link will help you www.autoguide.com/auto-news/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Jaguar-F-Type-Structure-Infographic.jpg Also the women ownership doesn't apply to high end cars. The people that can afford to drive these off the lot's new will pamper them and are not Dodge of Ford muscle car buyers that want to race and do burn-outs. That's not the way Jaguar sells cars. They have low miles because they are kept in the garage for "Sunday drives". You will get the best pops from the exhaust between 2200 and 2800 RPM while in open baffle mode only (the button on the center console). Run it up to 2600 rpm and don't shift, just release the gas pedal and BANG! In sport mode the baffles are not as loud because of the engine electronic timing map configuration. Your R is beautiful, an incredible sub 3.5 second car for a unbelievable price that handles on corners and not just straight lines. Cheers!
Oh Man! Thanks for sharing. You'd think more would be covered under precertified. Sorry you had to go through all of this. But in the end glad you got it all covered. Great content. Beautiful car.
Just had my jag for a little over a year, she has been in the Auto Hospital about 6 times now. Just brought it back home last week for an engine light that was on, they found no problem other than a mouse caught up in my Supercharger. Makes me wonder why there was no problem with anything, but I needed to pay $200 for new filters that the coverage didn't cover, although they were just changed last year. Now, just yesterday, the light came on again. So Annoying.
Definitely annoying when things break. I think people would be shocked with how much damage a rodent can do and how often it happens. With every car there can be bad apples. Hopefully yours is just teething a bit.
100% your window trim broke because someone put their elbow on it when getting out of the car. In my 16 R, it was about the only place my I could put my arm to get out and I broke mine and it looked exactly the same. Thankfully, on the 19 R, this isn’t a issue. Your bill was expensive because it’s a window out repair!
Crazy that it happened to your car as well. I don't think that is how it happened to my car. I also don't come near that when entering or exiting the car. I always try not to roll out to avoid damaging the bolster. I also remember the actual parts was the bulk of the price. I think the labor was only 2-300 bucks. Thanks for commenting. I believe your the first person that has had similar wi dow trim issues!
Even if the quarter glass has to some out, it wouldn't justify that price. I removed and re-installed my quarter glass when my headliner was replaced. It wasn't that difficult or time consuming. Window trim surrounds are around $600 each, so the majority of the cost is the parts.
Good review, tho I'm not sure the title isn't a bit misleading. A bit of trim out of place doesn't really qualify as a "broken" car (esp on the used market). It'll certainly help scare people away who are already wary of the marquee, if that was the intent.
Agree 100%. Loose trim on a car over five years old is hardly "broken" probably should have taken care of it though. Good to hear JLR offered a good will replacement.
Certified pre-owned means nothing except that you are paying for thin air. I worked at a dealership that touted 186 point inspection pre-owned nonsense, fact is they didn't inspect anything. It's a crock of you-know-what.
The cappuccino machine and the loaners are appreciated, but we all know that car dealerships make their money in the service dept. As nice as the folks are there, they know that charging for repair and maintenance is their lifeline. On another note, this is why the EV world scares the hell out of them. Very little service to charge for.
Great job guys, I just sold my 2015 f-r and loved the time I had it, unfortunately I did not have the time to drive it. I sold it with 4000 miles and was never in the rain or snow. thank goodness I had no problems in the 5 years of ownership.
Thanks for the comment! I am having a hard time trying to tell myself not to drive it. Like purposely forgetting something at the store so I can go back :)
@@PerformanceOnWheels I have a few other toys but I will say I was to ocd and I understand what your saying. Just like I don't understand why they but a radio in the car...the exhaust was music to my ears :)

A lot of ignorance in the comment section. Some of his issues specially that trim piece and oxygen sensor are well known issues in the ftype community. Trim piece just happened to mine and to a neighbor ftype last year.
Bought a F Type and it has had a couple of issues which was fixed under the approved used car warranty at the local Jaguar dealership in the UK. Sounds like you either have a poor dealership or Jaguar USA are not so customer orientated.
It’s a British Corvette. Corvette’s rear is more squishy and Jags have been built better than the Chevy. Maybe the new Corvette will finally be up to European quality. Personally. I think the F=Type is the most beautiful car on the road.
I purchased my bmw last year which is certified and i found my front splitter was cracked. I also took it back to get fixed (for free) and they were very good about it. I was curious how it would be with Jaguar. Good video, you told a lot Of what I wanted to know. I’m looking to buy an F-Type R this year, hope I can find something good! (The guy at the Jaguar - Aston Martin dealership also told me maintenance is included In certified vehicles, unlike BMW which is separate)
@@PerformanceOnWheels Yeah, the paperwork only says they inpected 165 mostly not-covered areas. Ha Jag CPO is such a shitty warranty. Luckily the car is reliable. The only place they talk about what is actually covered is the CPO website, in this litle blurb... "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY* This limited warranty is added on top of the vehicle’s new car warranty.** Using only Jaguar Land Rover Genuine Parts, this limited warranty covers repairs for sudden and unexpected mechanical or electrical failure, and work is only undertaken by Jaguar Trained Technicians. Nothing less. The warranty covers the vehicle for up to 7 years / 100,000 miles, whichever comes first." Also, check your computer services records, most dealers advertise 7 years, but only pay for 6 to save $1800 internally.
Austin was not correct. It is not plastic. Literally woke up in the morning after driving the car and noticed. Car did nothing other then drive from point A to B.
8:50 'MHCC8' is a Jaguar E-Type ... Really was that for sale??! Over here in the UK you can only ever see that in a museum. Or buy a far cheaper [and far smaller] model version of one :o)
I am new to your channel and appreciate your candid review of your car experience. I have an M6 that I am considering trading in for an F-type R but a little hesitant to do so because of the issue that I have heard about these cars.
I have a feeling you would love one. Since your new and looking for an ftype. A great place to start would be our awd vs rwd videos. Its a 2 part series and will tell you everything you need to know about the Jaguar F-Type
Yeah took Jag three months to agree to fix my car ultimately under "good will" with a 100% documented CPO in place. They gave me a loaner while they argued with each other, with me on the email chain, for months and months on end. Luckily, I had brought the computer records expired warranty date to their attention two years prior, and I had the documentation that they had adjudicated the issue in my favor and said it was fixed. No one fixed it. In all phases if their endless screw-ups, nothing moved unless I complained, and complained, and complained and complained, higher and higher and higher. I probably spent a month of full time work on it. It would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper to pay a shop then to have Jag try to fix the car. Total buffoonery, laziness, and incompentence at all levels. Just outrageously horrible customer service--worst I've ever experienced in my short 55 years of life. When I said it seemed kind of crazy expensive to turn their new car loaner (4 banger ePace) into a used car, they said it wasn't uncommon to have a customer in a loaner "for years." Making things worse, not a single Jaguar employee could tell me what the CPO covered, at any corporate level. Lucikly(?) my issue was drivetrain so they couldn't avoid paying to fix it. The dealer had sold the car to me as CPO, but never paid Jaguar for the CPO so they could pocket the extra cash. Its pretty common, sadly, many internet accounts of the same. Jaguar as a company is an absolute shitshow.
@@PerformanceOnWheels Just because they covered it doesn’t make it their responsibility. To blame that on Jag is the worst clickbait. They should sue you
The previous owner ripping a piece of trim up when they got out, and you not noticing it was pushed down has nothing to do with Jag. It just makes you a dumbass. You not reading the CPO has nothing to do with Jag either. Moron millennials, man, it’s never ending. You’re saying a little trim piece you broke cost $5000 to fix? No I’m not going to watch you be stupid, the thumbnail is disgraceful.
Are you freaking serious??? That is hilarious. There were three people locally I know of that pursued that car me being one of them. The dealership was not interested in selling the car it seemed. You get it already?
@@PerformanceOnWheels anyone who’s had a f type knows how that happens when exiting the car. Maybe you didn’t notice? Look at the design. It can’t unseat itself without force.
Nope. It's a car flaw. Many experience same issue. I still have CPO warranty. I opened a case yest because sadly it just happened to my passenger side (nobody enters or never uses that door)went to dealer and to make things worse, they told me my regular warranty just expired 2 days prior!!!!!) .
That is not true. Prior to 2009 yes that AJ serious motor was used in cars like the Lincoln LS. The current day Jag motor was tweaked and is specific only to JLR.
How does this make you feel about the F-Type?

Thanks for the comment! I am having a hard time trying to tell myself not to drive it. Like purposely forgetting something at the store so I can go back :)

A lot of ignorance in the comment section. Some of his issues specially that trim piece and oxygen sensor are well known issues in the ftype community. Trim piece just happened to mine and to a neighbor ftype last year.
A bunch of bozos who will never or never owned one just saying anything
Do you still own the white f type r? And did you purchase it in Plano TX? If so would you recommend others to shop there?
I do not own it. I did purchase in Frisco Texas. My experience was fine, until I tried to address issues.
That trim looks like someone tried to break into the car. The hood shut line and some panels seem to take a que from the BMW Z4 E89.
I think it was the wind trying to break-in.....at possible excessive speed.
Bought a F Type and it has had a couple of issues which was fixed under the approved used car warranty at the local Jaguar dealership in the UK. Sounds like you either have a poor dealership or Jaguar USA are not so customer orientated.
Time will tell..... How are you enjoying yours?
It’s a British Corvette. Corvette’s rear is more squishy and Jags have been built better than the Chevy. Maybe the new Corvette will finally be up to European quality. Personally. I think the F=Type is the most beautiful car on the road.
I 100% agree with this comment
I purchased my bmw last year which is certified and i found my front splitter was cracked. I also took it back to get fixed (for free) and they were very good about it. I was curious how it would be with Jaguar. Good video, you told a lot
Of what I wanted to know. I’m looking to buy an F-Type R this year, hope I can find something good! (The guy at the Jaguar - Aston Martin dealership also told me maintenance is included In certified vehicles, unlike BMW which is separate)
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any F-Type questions at Performanceonwheels111@gmail.com
Performance On Wheels will do, thanks bud !
Of course!
A year more and you could've gotten an awd, a little faster 0-60 time and better for the snowy weather you get in Minnesota. Nice ride though!
ua-cam.com/video/Ru6_0OykuBY/v-deo.html
Still happy with what I got.
Maybe I missed it but what year is it & how many miles where on it when you purchased it?
It is a 2015 I purchased with 29k
The CPO does not cover anything but drive train and electrical failure. Read your paperwork.
They never gave me paperwork😂. I did find it elsewhere however. I do think there is a bit more to it but ultimately your correct.
@@PerformanceOnWheels
Yeah, the paperwork only says they inpected 165 mostly not-covered areas. Ha Jag CPO is such a shitty warranty. Luckily the car is reliable.
The only place they talk about what is actually covered is the CPO website, in this litle blurb...
"CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY*
This limited warranty is added on top of the vehicle’s new car warranty.** Using only Jaguar Land Rover Genuine Parts, this limited warranty covers repairs for sudden and unexpected mechanical or electrical failure, and work is only undertaken by Jaguar Trained Technicians. Nothing less. The warranty covers the vehicle for up to 7 years / 100,000 miles, whichever comes first."
Also, check your computer services records, most dealers advertise 7 years, but only pay for 6 to save $1800 internally.
That trim piece has a crease in it...it's metal, it doesn't do that based on temperature. Snagged on a car wash?
It is plastic and its on there with adhesive, we have not brought it in any carwashes only hand washed
Not sure why yours is plastic, mine is definitely metal. Maybe that's only the chrome trim..
I'm pretty sure that's the owner of the dealers car?
Was thinking of buying this year model. Maybe I’ll look into a 2016-17 maybe. Maintenance cost is starting to worry me about this car.
Video coming real soon on just that topic! Stay tuned. We have some other ftype videos comparing AWD-RWD models
If it worries you than you can’t afford it and you should get something else no offense
Sounds great, I will check out the videos. Thanks for the quick response.
Well the F type is a hell of alot more reliable then a bmw M6
@stevenberry1574 that’s very very true
Nice car, love the color inside and out, but what are you doing chewing gum right in our faces???
Look Ma! No cavities.
I have a 2017 ftype manual - never had a problem.
Would love to drive a manual F-Type

Oh man!!!!!
Do you know what the failure point was?
"Paper Glass"... I think the better word to use is cup lol
But doesn't paper glass sound more elegant? 😂😂
The CPO is absolutley NOT worth a damn.
🥺
When I said it seemed kind of crazy expensive to turn their new car loaner (4 banger ePace) into a used car, they said it wasn't uncommon to have a customer in a loaner "for years."
Making things worse, not a single Jaguar employee could tell me what the CPO covered, at any corporate level.
I’ve always been jaguar fan f type is very good looking sports car🏁🏁
Check out our new videos on them! they wont disappoint
Just bad luck, you should talk direct to jaguar in the uk if the dealership is not up to standard, if you show your teeth the you will get a reaction
Yeah my trim is up in that spot too. Not covered, Bahahahaha
Frustrating right?
That’s vandalism. Not covered.
No it's not? It was coverd if you watched the video...
@@PerformanceOnWheels
Just because they covered it doesn’t make it their responsibility. To blame that on Jag is the worst clickbait. They should sue you
Completely disagree. Their flagship car should be held to high standards. Especially new or certified purchases.
Nice try Chev guys, your t shirts gave away the plot. Not to bright LOL

Metropolitan?
Yes.
Lol I’m from Texas and I just bought that one.
Are you freaking serious??? That is hilarious. There were three people locally I know of that pursued that car me being one of them. The dealership was not interested in selling the car it seemed. You get it already?
You having it transported or coming to get it?
Jag F Type is way better and a 911 is $30-40,000 more new.
