There are so many out there who claim to be Christian who deny the truth of Christ and teachings. Very common in New Age and in New Thought. Oprah is far from the only one doing it.
Being a parent helped me understand the “jealousy” of God. You don’t want someone who doesn’t have your children’s best interests in mind influencing your children.
Being someone with diagnosed OCD, this concept of your thoughts control your reality brought me so much anxiety. For those who might not be aware, OCD isn't just repetitive actions but also repetitive scary thoughts that can get stuck in a loop. So to survive my brain I had to do away with that belief that your thoughts create your reality. Thoughts are just thoughts and I surrender them to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Thankfully our thoughts don't control reality! Not only can thoughts be mistaken and outright lies, but we can replace them with God's truth. Not only that but we can simply bring them captive at Jesus' feet, allowing them to go by like waves passing through. ❤
Interestingly, New Thought would agree and affirm this statement. They would say that Jesus was speaking from the posture and position as "The Christ." They'd wholeheartedly say "Yes!! Christ is the way the truth and the life! Amen!" Now after watching the video, and knowing what "Christ" means to them, you can see how twisted that interpretation is.

It’s ironic. She loves reading books.. Oprah’s book club.. And yet. , the great book ever written.. best seller.. The greatest story ever told. Has she read that book in context? I and am still learning.. so don’t get me wrong . She has the right to her beliefs..but I am sad that she calls herself a Christian and doesn’t back it up biblically.
Since listening to you for a while now, I've come to realise how much I grew up in New Thought and not New Age. Even in the church I attended back in the 1970's. Very good video! Watching Melissa’s videos about Mormonism as well it’s becoming clear to me how this lie is just repeated in every human philosophy and religion. Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism - it’s just the same lie, repeated over and over again since the garden. Insane
@@micahsnow346I once did a breakdown of the original Lie into basic principles. It’s pretty versatile for all sort of beliefs and systems: 1. Surely you won’t die - I can grab eternal life or create my own destiny and God is lying about sin and its consequences 2. For God knows that when you eat of it - God or his representatives are liars and just trying to control you. You know better than him. 3. Your eyes will be opened - You just need the right knowledge and the ability to see what was hidden 4. And you will be like God - You have divine potential or you are the master of your reality 5. Knowing good and evil - you can determine your own morality and God is trying to confuse you.
Oprah was a total gateway for me to new age/thought in the early 2000s. Spent 20+ years wandering in the desert of that nonsense. Finally realized she was "off" when she basically started telling women to leave their families to "find" their happiness. I had a husband and small children at the time and I was mortified. Such absolute BS! Then her best friend Gayle left her husband and I was finally hit over the head with the deception she was peddling. Such sick lies! Finally came home to Him at 58 (grew up as a Lutheran confirmed into the faith as a preteen). Finally realized His Truth. Saved in 2023 at 58, baptized on Resurrection Sunday 2024. Praise God! 🙏 He is ever patient and faithful. Biggest regret, because of my choices and influences like her, my children do not know Jesus. I pray for them every day and pray my witness plants seeds of wanting to know Him. All is possible WITH God. I'm so grateful I found Him again. Never have I known such love and peace. You’ve got to understand how much trauma the church has caused in the name of Jesus; people that have been taught not to dance or sing because these are sins, 8 year old children being told their souls are black (I know some of them) …it’s simply not helpful, it doesn’t create an enlightened society who want to come to Yeshua it turns them away (in droves) …it’s not helpful to fault find, to judge, to criticize, you will never gain people this way. Oprah has raised consciousness around biblical teachings and G-d that may never have reached certain people at all. The church drove the people away.

Oprah loves to hear herself talk. She feels like she is wise and profound. She asks her interviewees questions, then cuts them off to answer the questions herself.
By the way, when I finally opened and read my Bible again at 58, I literally said to myself...it's ALL there everything we need, God's incredible Word for us! And then I realized "they" steal from His Word, pick and choose, make it fit, distort it. Such deception. So grateful the scales were removed from my eyes and I now know Him. 🙏

I quit watching Oprah sometime in early 2000s or before. A friend used to say "did you see Oprah?" I answered "I don't attend the Church of Oprah." This was way before she started so much spiritual talk. I saw her for who she was.
Also, why are all her favorite verses something to do with gaining power? Where is something about being humble or similar, I guess she wouldn't pick those because how do you explain being a billionaire and talking about humbling oneself...
I was raised in the Unity school of Christianity and you are right on! I was saved in the Baptist church at the age of 12. Thanks be to God for rescuing me out of that false teaching! I am now 80 years old and looking forward to seeing my Lord and Savior when He calls me home. Praise His holy name!
@jennyroth6583 I was raised in Unity and grew up doing yoga/chakras/manifesting/reiki - the whole shebang. It is Buddhism lite, not Christianity, and reducing God to "source" and "higher power" and "the light" is so demeaning to our creator. What I finally realized is that we would sing The Lord's Prayer - "Thy will be done" - while manifesting away, having no desire to know or care what God wanted. And we completely ignored Jesus. Unity people talk about love, and how we are supposed to love everyone, but they mean the feeling of connection, not actual love where you sacrifice for others. Everyone was starting a reiki business or life planner, etc. but there was no real acts of love. Just a lot of manifesting.

Opened my childhood Bible 11/2023 “for intellectual reasons” after watching one too many dark documentaries about the evils of this world and the cabal, etc. I thought, “maybe the Bible has a perspective on all of this.” And God YANKED me. my hunger for the Bible was insatiable. May it never be quenched. I gave my life to Jesus Christ on February 4, 2024. I didn’t know that Jesus’ spirit would dwell within me. This happened before I learned about it intellectually. That’s how I know this is real. I wasn’t predisposed to “oh now that you’re saved, this will happen.” And when this happened, it is like no other experience on this earth. You cannot explain it to a nonbeliever with logic. So grateful.
The "Jealous God" comment was one of MY very eye opening moments in realizing that she was way off base. God is jealous FOR us! He wants us and loves us and doesn't want our attention turned to other things that will hurt us and that don't love us like He does! He is not jealous OF us! Oprah has misled many many people with her lies and twisting of the truth. The enemy has used her mightily for his purposes. 😢

I quit watching Oprah when she said there has to be more than one way to heaven. Also when she said “that may be your truth but it isn’t mine.” His word is truth. Manipulating the truth to fit what you want to believe doesn’t make it true. To me that is one of the most dangerous things that is happening, taking a little bit of truth and mixing it with lie and passing it off as the truth. It sounds right when it really isn’t. Thank you. Me too, i loved her show, admired her intelligence but I keep her at a distance, that disrespect of the LORD JESUS like that on national tv opened my eyes to her denying the Christ as the only way.

Back in the late 80's, radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, was on to Oprah's new religion, seeing herself as her own god, and warned listeners to read the Bible and not to be swayed by her. Reading thru the comments i find it sad no one has mentioned how the bible says we wrestle not against flesh but principalities and spiritual wickedness, and to pray for our enemies, or how about to love your neighbor as yourself. I fall short of practicing these things myself when I see how much evil is being done in this world and how many have normalized and excepted even embraced it. Its hard to pray for people that influence people you love and to see them being decieved and led staight to the path of hell but i also know God can change anyone's heart and sometimes it takes people losing everyting to turn to God.I think most here can agree Oprah is under strong oppression and deception and needs lots of prayer.With her influence how great would it be if she came to Christ and was born again!

I worked with Oprah in the early days. She had all of us reading books on reincarnation and visiting her own personal psychic. This always has been a driving force for her.
Melissa, I have been a Christian my whole life. In my adulthood, I have been on a quest to unlearn and relearn my nominal Christianity. I have always struggled with and have been praying that I could one day grasp the gospel. In my car on my way to park with Dunkin in my hand, I listened to this clip, and the Holy Spirit spoke, and I now see. Thank you for letting God use you. ❤

Oprah is one of the greatest deceivers of the last 50 plus years. What makes her such a "good" deceiver is that she easily manipulates so many people. She started out as everyone's friend. People of all ages and colors loved her show. Suddenly everyone is hooked and hanging on her every word. Then very gradually she starts off having well-known Christian pastors or speakers on her show. Then little by little she adds new age and other types of "faiths" into the mix. So slowly that people don't even realize it. Then she leaves her show and starts and Sunday morning show. It looks like its a feel good self help show. What it really was , was deception. Leading people down to the path of self belief. She worships self. She's her own higher power. She thinks that positive thoughts and self reflection will lead you to your own paradise. No need for God in her world. She is her own god. So many people falling for and believing every word she says. As the Bible says in Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
This didn’t even need to be about Oprah. The piece on New Thought is worth its weight in gold. I’ve stopped attending many churches that have started teaching Christ Consciousness and other New Thought teachings. I’m still unlearning so much of this. Thank you, thank you!

Christians (especially those who live countries and societies, like the U.S., with citizens who hold a wide variety of beliefs systems and religions) need to study the major worldviews that are espoused by large groups of people in the world. The whole “you create your own reality” is not only unbiblical but also completely victim blaming. It leads to believing it’s your fault trauma happened to you and it’s your fault you haven’t found the right mantra/affirmation/positive thought to “fix” yourself. I spent decades in this false belief and it made me feel an utter failure because I couldnt fix my physical disability or mental health. It’s dangerous.
Not only that its very egotistical thinking, right next to “we’re are own gods”. You don’t create your own reality, theres obviously an outside creator who is all knowing and created everything.
Totally agree, very damaging. My absent father used this thinking to explain our relationship. Apparently 'I chose to have him as a parent to teach me what I needed to know in this life to evolve'. Don't get me wrong I sure learnt some lessons from him, but they were not what he hoped. Talk about a cop out complete from responsibility.

As I listen to Oprah speak, I hear what my pastor calls "navel gazing." It's so much about her and nothing to do with God. We are all guilty of navel gazing, but we must fight against it and give our everything to the God who truly deserves our love.
I've been waiting for this! When I was in college in the 80s I was a new Christian and also an avid Oprah watcher. Also TBN. I know I got many wrong ideas from both, and usually not contradicting. 😮 Fortunately, the Lord showed me the truth.
Oh the current so called Christian leaders has me with my Bible, always reading, studying, vigilant. It is so difficult to discern those slight "did God really say that?"
Oprah has no power of her own and her public image, unless it’s been placed upon her by her handlers. It came at a cost. Every single change in her is a calculated decision and like a pawn♟️ moved by those above her. Step by step it’s been calculated to deceive and brainwash.
Oprah is part of this group. 1 John 2:19-They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us. But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. She rejected straight scripture and rejected Christ being the only way to heaven. She was admonished many times and she doesn’t pay heed nor mind to it. She is not one of us. She doesn’t have that measure of faith that no matter what happens that faith being more precious than gold tried through fire which does not melt nor leave; that incorruptible seed. That is why she was quick to speak and move away from God the first moment she heard something she didn’t agree with. She loves not the truth and the truth is not in her.
Honestly, it's difficult for me to separate Oprah from her beliefs. She has openly, repeatedly rejected the gospel. She has used her platform to indoctrinate others. And despite her assertions of kindness it seems she has treated people horribly behind the scenes.
I don't think most people understand (and maybe even Melissa) what people have to do to get to "the top" and stay there. The unspeakable acts, and the worship of "the god of this world." And I would imagine that is where a lot of the vitriol came from, from Christians, about her. Yes we should pray for her, but we should also expose her for the evil that she is. Eph. 5:11

I agree wholeheartedly. Many Christians don't realize that when they start bashing people, they just lost all hope of actually changing anyone's mind, they are now only preaching to the choir.
This is the thing, every religion attacks the other so how can you know truth? I ask time and again, which version of the Bible is true? There are many versions, many edits, many passages removed, elite councils ordered to revise the KJV. Kings who changed religious history, kings who persecuted particularly women; elite authorities that ordered the Inquisition; if that’s not satanic then what is?
Yes, so many who call themselves Christian’s, say this too… let’s talk about love, Jesus is about love. But they do not understand true Love. Jesus loved at a level most cannot fathom, as love is not about allowing others to sin and leave them reap the consequences.
Yes, I’ve learned to clarify what it means to be a Christian when someone tells me they are. Then they stare at me, strangely, as they realize, I caught on. We need to walk so close with the Lord that we are fully submitted to Him so that the Holy Spirit will move through us with wisdom and discernment to test the spirits, even if they say they are Christian.

Oprah said that we would "receive" the desires of our hearts. I've always thought that if we seek Him first and His righteousness, He would lead us by placing His desires for us in our hearts so that our desires are His desires for us 🕊🕊🕊
I don't think it's an accident (or a coincidence) that Oprah had "big-ticket" giveaways on her show; I think that she wanted to amp up people's desire for *things.* And I think that much of what she's said on camera--like her statement about people "receiving the desires of [their] hearts"--is evidence of her goal to mislead people. (I strongly suspect that the "god" to whom she prays/ answers is the one who has directed--and may still direct--her to mislead people away from true Christianity.)
I thought it was really conceited and immature of Oprah to conclude that God was jealous of her. The jealous in this case just means God was warning people not to worship idols. He is not jealous OF anyone.
She agree that she made the mistake of jumping to the wrong (negative) conclusion about the character of God, because she didn't read God's word for herself, or inquire from someone who could explain what the scripture passage meant. Pride gets in the way of seeking the truth, when someone believes that they already know the truth. I hope that Oprah will read the Bible, and be blessed by the glorious Gospel Truth of who Jesus Christ really is, and what he did for her/us.
If you consider her skewed perspective of having authoritative figures in her life controlling her, likely showing signs of toxic jealousy, it actually makes a ton of sense that that was a red flag for her. Like Melissa said, she went from being told she was completely powerless to pendulum swinging all the way over to finding comfort in being told she is fully powerful. We should pray that the Lord opens her eyes to this so that she may find ultimate rest and healing!

Definitely! During parts of the video I felt renewed relief remembering how free I felt upon learning that Joyce Meyer's teaching on the power of words was wrong. It sounds silly now, but she and a few other devout Christians in my life had pretty much convinced me for a time that if I said, "I think I'm getting a cold," or if I confessed I was struggling with something that I was somehow dooming myself to be captive to that. Praise the Lord for eternal rest and for His sovereignty over all!!
That is a crushing amount of pressure to have to be in total charge of your destiny and have only positive energy all the time. How sweet is the trust we can have in God's Providence and sovereignty!
Thank you for saying this. This line of thinking heavily influenced the family members who were most involved in my raising. I was expected to be SUPER-SUCCESSFUL according to the world's measure of success. I was never cut out for it, and the pressure was crippling. How liberating to know all the Glory is due to God anyway, and my Father in Heaven is perfectly fine with me being an ordinary person, working an ordinary job, as long as I'm faithful to Him.
I think a lot of people these days are angry at Oprah, it's because of that Hawaii thing where she seemed pretty selfish and inconsiderate towards the people and it seemed like she wanted to take their property and didn't care about all the homeless displaced people. To add to this the children from Hawaii are still missing. There's a lot of unanswered questions about that whole deal. Even though Oprah gave some things to the homeless people there. It seemed fake.
It was fake. I also doubt a lot of those children are truly ‘missing’ from the actual incineration of Lahaina. They know where these children are. Oprah’s friend “Wayne the rock” is into hurting children. It’s a fact and he was interviewed making jokes about it but it’s been scrubbed as well.

I used to watch Oprah and as I matured in my Christian walk, I realized that she is of the world. She caters to all these beliefs because she realized she could draw a bigger audience. She has become a thought leader for the lost and the spiritually thirsty. Being a follower of Jesus means that you are to follow Him, and most importantly that you glorify Him and Him alone. Hollywood and unfortunately all the people following them want to walk the broad easy road. Being a Christian is not easy but as a Christian, we live in Jesus. I think Oprah realized being a true Christian was not going to get her where she wanted to be in her career and the level of clout and celebrity she saw that she could reach. Unfortunately, there are so many using their platform to lead people astray.
Thank you for this, Melissa. My son and daughter-in-law are in a very new thought church. It smells of Unity, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. They believe they're sinless, that they're "little gods". I'm forbidden contact with my grandchildren because I talked to them about Jesus and the Bible and our need for forgiveness and the little ones "tattled" on me. This teaching helps me understand a little more, and helps me know better how to pray for them and how to speak with them when I'm given a chance. God is blessing you so much, He is using you in so many ways. I can't wait for the next video! ❤

The little ones might be too young for whatever you were trying to tell them, even though I'm not a new thoughter or new ager, I think there is a more appropriate time for kids to learn about such serious topics otherwise as we've seen time and time again, some kids aren't ready for it and out of fear turn against it...and that's a lot of damage to undo later if they're even willing.
Ever since I was little, I never understood the Oprah idol worship. I had a weird internal hesitancy (now I realize was the Holy Spirit) that led me to be weary of her. I’ve had this a few times with celebs and it’s come up with various things in my life. I love how the Lord knocks on my heart and it’s up to me to wake up and listen.
The amount of times she says “I’m a Christian” is a tell, she knows exactly what she is doing and who she is really worshiping and it’s not Jesus Christ

Hi Melissa, This video is the first one of yours that I have watched and I have to share that I am completely and happily blown away by how well you explain these abstract ideas! I gave my life to the Lord over 18 years ago and as a psychologist/philosopher, I have never stopped trying to discern this life in context to the Living Word. You have explained things better than many preachers that I have heard speak on the topic! Thank you for sharing your God-given teaching gifts to rightly divide the word of truth and help believers everywhere! I’m a Christian is progress, still developing my personal relationship with Jesus. I’m 55 & have always believed in God & Jesus plus I knew the basics from my Grandma & going to church but over the last 10+ yrs I’ve really been learning the gospels. I feel blessed to have found your channel over a yr ago because I’ve learned so much! I’ve never agreed with crystals, meditation, manifesting & all that because I knew those things just didn’t sound like the truth!! Thank you!!

My once saved daughter married a Catholic & raised my 2grandchildren Catholic … now they have distanced themselves from that church & she says she no longer believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God… it was just written by men along time ago. My heart is breaking 😢 How can I minister to them??? I pray constantly for them now I see what they’ve adopted as their “religion “. Keep Enlightening us people with your research, videos & books! Why wouldn’t you want to aspire to something bigger and better than YOU? This was super enlightening Melissa, I got caught up in New Thought during my stint in MLM’s (that video was great btw). It is very enticing and exhilarating. But you are 💯 right: it’s never ending. When Oprah said, “when Jesus came down, to TEACH us…”, that was the crux of the problem: she does not acknowledge who He really is. He came to teach, but more importantly, He came to REDEEM us. The atonement was His purpose. Without it we cannot return to live with God. Thanks for this!
Oh my. So interesting. When I told my husband I was tired of baby food Christian teachings I did not realize the “meatiness” that I was missing out on. Phew!
Christ, in His own words, told us with incredible clarity that someone like Oprah has almost zero chance of entering the Kingdom. By almost zero, what we know Christ used to paint the picture was an animal that weighs a couple thousand pounds has a better chance of getting through the eye of a sewing needle than a rich (monetarily) person getting into the Kingdom. Why did Christ teach us this? He knew that money was and would always be a worldly pursuit. And you cannot love the world and love God (the Kingdom) at the same time (1 John). It really is that simple. Oprah has zero knowledge of the one truth of Jesus Christ.
"The eye of the needle' was a natural gate in the road where the camels had to get down on their knees to go thru it. It has nothing to do with a metal needle of a sewing machine. Jesus was signifying that we have to have a bit of humility and get down on our knees before God.

How can you be sure? If charity is done in secret, we would never know about it. Most people I know may announce some of their charitable contributions publicly as a way to inspire others to do the same, but remain quiet on the majority of their generosity.

Never been an Oprah fan but in all fairness, we only know what we read/see. You have no idea whether or not every single charitable act she does is filmed. Please..she could do plenty ofvthings in private, incuding charitable and otherwise. We are not part of any celebritie's life.
I'm so grateful for this video. I left a word of faith, hyper-charismatic, and prosperity gospel teaching church about a year and a half ago due to questioning a lot of their teachings and having my eyes opened. That's mostly thanks to your videos! Since leaving that church, I've felt a bit empty in my faith. This video in particular has convicted me. I didn't realize that I was still holding to some of the New Thought teachings from my previous church. Thank you for the work you do, it's a blessing!

Thankfully, I left that church just before they began using The Passion Translation, and I learned the truth about said translation around the time I left. I thank God for placing God fearing, Bible believing Christians in my life since leaving who have strongly recommended the ESV, which is now my favorite translation. I make an effort to read the gospel of John every few months or so. I'm about to start a full Bible reading from front to back. I will be sure to keep your advice in mind as I do. God bless!

Being someone with diagnosed OCD, this concept of your thoughts control your reality brought me so much anxiety. For those who might not be aware, OCD isn't just repetitive actions but also repetitive scary thoughts that can get stuck in a loop. So to survive my brain I had to do away with that belief that your thoughts create your reality. Thoughts are just thoughts and I surrender them to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Thankfully our thoughts don't control reality! Not only can thoughts be mistaken and outright lies, but we can replace them with God's truth. Not only that but we can simply bring them captive at Jesus' feet, allowing them to go by like waves passing through. ❤

Interestingly, New Thought would agree and affirm this statement. They would say that Jesus was speaking from the posture and position as "The Christ." They'd wholeheartedly say "Yes!! Christ is the way the truth and the life! Amen!"

1. Surely you won’t die - I can grab eternal life or create my own destiny and God is lying about sin and its consequences
2. For God knows that when you eat of it - God or his representatives are liars and just trying to control you. You know better than him.
3. Your eyes will be opened - You just need the right knowledge and the ability to see what was hidden
4. And you will be like God - You have divine potential or you are the master of your reality
5. Knowing good and evil - you can determine your own morality and God is trying to confuse you.
Oprah was a total gateway for me to new age/thought in the early 2000s. Spent 20+ years wandering in the desert of that nonsense. Finally realized she was "off" when she basically started telling women to leave their families to "find" their happiness. I had a husband and small children at the time and I was mortified. Such absolute BS! Then her best friend Gayle left her husband and I was finally hit over the head with the deception she was peddling. Such sick lies! Finally came home to Him at 58 (grew up as a Lutheran confirmed into the faith as a preteen). Finally realized His Truth. Saved in 2023 at 58, baptized on Resurrection Sunday 2024. Praise God! 🙏 He is ever patient and faithful. Biggest regret, because of my choices and influences like her, my children do not know Jesus. I pray for them every day and pray my witness plants seeds of wanting to know Him. All is possible WITH God. I'm so grateful I found Him again. Never have I known such love and peace. Thank you, this was so helpful and informative!

You’ve got to understand how much trauma the church has caused in the name of Jesus; people that have been taught not to dance or sing because these are sins, 8 year old children being told their souls are black (I know some of them) …it’s simply not helpful, it doesn’t create an enlightened society who want to come to Yeshua it turns them away (in droves) …it’s not helpful to fault find, to judge, to criticize, you will never gain people this way. Oprah has raised consciousness around biblical teachings and G-d that may never have reached certain people at all. The church drove the people away.

It is Buddhism lite, not Christianity, and reducing God to "source" and "higher power" and "the light" is so demeaning to our creator. What I finally realized is that we would sing The Lord's Prayer - "Thy will be done" - while manifesting away, having no desire to know or care what God wanted. And we completely ignored Jesus.
Unity people talk about love, and how we are supposed to love everyone, but they mean the feeling of connection, not actual love where you sacrifice for others. Everyone was starting a reiki business or life planner, etc. but there was no real acts of love. Just a lot of manifesting.

I didn’t know that Jesus’ spirit would dwell within me. This happened before I learned about it intellectually. That’s how I know this is real. I wasn’t predisposed to “oh now that you’re saved, this will happen.”
And when this happened, it is like no other experience on this earth.

I quit watching Oprah when she said there has to be more than one way to heaven. Also when she said “that may be your truth but it isn’t mine.” His word is truth. Manipulating the truth to fit what you want to believe doesn’t make it true. To me that is one of the most dangerous things that is happening, taking a little bit of truth and mixing it with lie and passing it off as the truth. It sounds right when it really isn’t.

Reading thru the comments i find it sad no one has mentioned how the bible says we wrestle not against flesh but principalities and spiritual wickedness, and to pray for our enemies, or how about to love your neighbor as yourself. I have tried, but failed to understand.
Oprah is one of the greatest deceivers of the last 50 plus years. What makes her such a "good" deceiver is that she easily manipulates so many people. She started out as everyone's friend. People of all ages and colors loved her show. Suddenly everyone is hooked and hanging on her every word. Then very gradually she starts off having well-known Christian pastors or speakers on her show. Then little by little she adds new age and other types of "faiths" into the mix. So slowly that people don't even realize it. Then she leaves her show and starts and Sunday morning show. It looks like its a feel good self help show. What it really was , was deception. Leading people down to the path of self belief. She worships self. She's her own higher power. She thinks that positive thoughts and self reflection will lead you to your own paradise. No need for God in her world. She is her own god. So many people falling for and believing every word she says. As the Bible says in Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Prayers for her to escape from her self deception, and know the True Prince of Peace, The Lord Jesus Christ.
Maybe that’s why she’s so “well-paid” and successful in worldly materialism

I know so many people who subscribe to these ideologies without even understanding that they are wrong or even get upset when you say anything.
The whole “you create your own reality” is not only unbiblical but also completely victim blaming. It leads to believing it’s your fault trauma happened to you and it’s your fault you haven’t found the right mantra/affirmation/positive thought to “fix” yourself. I spent decades in this false belief and it made me feel an utter failure because I couldnt fix my physical disability or mental health. It’s dangerous.
Not only that its very egotistical thinking, right next to “we’re are own gods”. You don’t create your own reality, theres obviously an outside creator who is all knowing and created everything.
Totally agree, very damaging. My absent father used this thinking to explain our relationship. Apparently 'I chose to have him as a parent to teach me what I needed to know in this life to evolve'. As I listen to Oprah speak, I hear what my pastor calls "navel gazing." It's so much about her and nothing to do with God. We are all guilty of navel gazing, but we must fight against it and give our everything to the God who truly deserves our love.
Some positivity is good. What fails is taking God and Jesus out. Selfish.

I've been waiting for this! When I was in college in the 80s I was a new Christian and also an avid Oprah watcher. Also TBN. I know I got many wrong ideas from both, and usually not contradicting. 😮 Fortunately, the Lord showed me the truth.

She’s got a real soft ‘taking on’ of Oprah. Like walking on eggshells. Way too complimentary for he being an enemy of the cross.
Oprah has no power of her own and her public image, unless it’s been placed upon her by her handlers. It came at a cost. Every single change in her is a calculated decision and like a pawn♟️ moved by those above her. Step by step it’s been calculated to deceive and brainwash.

She rejected straight scripture and rejected Christ being the only way to heaven. She was admonished many times and she doesn’t pay heed nor mind to it. She is not one of us. She doesn’t have that measure of faith that no matter what happens that faith being more precious than gold tried through fire which does not melt nor leave; that incorruptible seed. That is why she was quick to speak and move away from God the first moment she heard something she didn’t agree with. She loves not the truth and the truth is not in her.
Honestly, it's difficult for me to separate Oprah from her beliefs. She has openly, repeatedly rejected the gospel. She has used her platform to indoctrinate others. And despite her assertions of kindness it seems she has treated people horribly behind the scenes.
I don't think most people understand (and maybe even Melissa) what people have to do to get to "the top" and stay there. The unspeakable acts, and the worship of "the god of this world." And I would imagine that is where a lot of the vitriol came from, from Christians, about her. Yes we should pray for her, but we should also expose her for the evil that she is. Eph. 5:11

This is the thing, every religion attacks the other so how can you know truth? I ask time and again, which version of the Bible is true? There are many versions, many edits, many passages removed, elite councils ordered to revise the KJV. Kings who changed religious history, kings who persecuted particularly women; elite authorities that ordered the Inquisition; if that’s not satanic then what is?

Yes, I’ve learned to clarify what it means to be a Christian when someone tells me they are. Then they stare at me, strangely, as they realize, I caught on. We need to walk so close with the Lord that we are fully submitted to Him so that the Holy Spirit will move through us with wisdom and discernment to test the spirits, even if they say they are Christian.

I don't think it's an accident (or a coincidence) that Oprah had "big-ticket" giveaways on her show; I think that she wanted to amp up people's desire for *things.* And I think that much of what she's said on camera--like her statement about people "receiving the desires of [their] hearts"--is evidence of her goal to mislead people. (I strongly suspect that the "god" to whom she prays/ answers is the one who has directed--and may still direct--her to mislead people away from true Christianity.)

I thought it was really conceited and immature of Oprah to conclude that God was jealous of her. The jealous in this case just means God was warning people not to worship idols. He is not jealous OF anyone.
She agree that she made the mistake of jumping to the wrong (negative) conclusion about the character of God, because she didn't read God's word for herself, or inquire from someone who could explain what the scripture passage meant. Pride gets in the way of seeking the truth, when someone believes that they already know the truth. I hope that Oprah will read the Bible, and be blessed by the glorious Gospel Truth of who Jesus Christ really is, and what he did for her/us.
If you consider her skewed perspective of having authoritative figures in her life controlling her, likely showing signs of toxic jealousy, it actually makes a ton of sense that that was a red flag for her. Like Melissa said, she went from being told she was completely powerless to pendulum swinging all the way over to finding comfort in being told she is fully powerful. We should pray that the Lord opens her eyes to this so that she may find ultimate rest and healing!

Definitely! During parts of the video I felt renewed relief remembering how free I felt upon learning that Joyce Meyer's teaching on the power of words was wrong. It sounds silly now, but she and a few other devout Christians in my life had pretty much convinced me for a time that if I said, "I think I'm getting a cold," or if I confessed I was struggling with something that I was somehow dooming myself to be captive to that. Praise the Lord for eternal rest and for His sovereignty over all!!

Thank you for saying this. This line of thinking heavily influenced the family members who were most involved in my raising. I was expected to be SUPER-SUCCESSFUL according to the world's measure of success. I was never cut out for it, and the pressure was crippling. How liberating to know all the Glory is due to God anyway, and my Father in Heaven is perfectly fine with me being an ordinary person, working an ordinary job, as long as I'm faithful to Him.
That's why I always turn my desires over to God. If my desires are pure and of God then they'll manifest. If not, not meant to be and that's ok.

I think a lot of people these days are angry at Oprah, it's because of that Hawaii thing where she seemed pretty selfish and inconsiderate towards the people and it seemed like she wanted to take their property and didn't care about all the homeless displaced people. To add to this the children from Hawaii are still missing. There's a lot of unanswered questions about that whole deal. Even though Oprah gave some things to the homeless people there. It seemed fake.
It was fake. I also doubt a lot of those children are truly ‘missing’ from the actual incineration of Lahaina. They know where these children are. Oprah’s friend “Wayne the rock” is into hurting children. It’s a fact and he was interviewed making jokes about it but it’s been scrubbed as well.

I used to watch Oprah and as I matured in my Christian walk, I realized that she is of the world. She caters to all these beliefs because she realized she could draw a bigger audience. She has become a thought leader for the lost and the spiritually thirsty. Being a follower of Jesus means that you are to follow Him, and most importantly that you glorify Him and Him alone. Hollywood and unfortunately all the people following them want to walk the broad easy road. Being a Christian is not easy but as a Christian, we live in Jesus. I think Oprah realized being a true Christian was not going to get her where she wanted to be in her career and the level of clout and celebrity she saw that she could reach. Unfortunately, there are so many using their platform to lead people astray.
She just follows the road to the money. I stopped watching her around 2000. Not that I was a big fan. Was like I was watching mass hysteria.

Thank you for this, Melissa. My son and daughter-in-law are in a very new thought church. It smells of Unity, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. They believe they're sinless, that they're "little gods". I'm forbidden contact with my grandchildren because I talked to them about Jesus and the Bible and our need for forgiveness and the little ones "tattled" on me.
This teaching helps me understand a little more, and helps me know better how to pray for them and how to speak with them when I'm given a chance. God is blessing you so much, He is using you in so many ways. I can't wait for the next video! ❤

The little ones might be too young for whatever you were trying to tell them, even though I'm not a new thoughter or new ager, I think there is a more appropriate time for kids to learn about such serious topics otherwise as we've seen time and time again, some kids aren't ready for it and out of fear turn against it...and that's a lot of damage to undo later if they're even willing.

Ever since I was little, I never understood the Oprah idol worship. I had a weird internal hesitancy (now I realize was the Holy Spirit) that led me to be weary of her. I’ve had this a few times with celebs and it’s come up with various things in my life. I love how the Lord knocks on my heart and it’s up to me to wake up and listen.

I gave my life to the Lord over 18 years ago and as a psychologist/philosopher, I have never stopped trying to discern this life in context to the Living Word. I’m a Christian is progress, still developing my personal relationship with Jesus. I’m 55 & have always believed in God & Jesus plus I knew the basics from my Grandma & going to church but over the last 10+ yrs I’ve really been learning the gospels. I feel blessed to have found your channel over a yr ago because I’ve learned so much! This was super enlightening Melissa, I got caught up in New Thought during my stint in MLM’s (that video was great btw). It is very enticing and exhilarating. But you are 💯 right: it’s never ending.
When Oprah said, “when Jesus came down, to TEACH us…”, that was the crux of the problem: she does not acknowledge who He really is. He came to teach, but more importantly, He came to REDEEM us. The atonement was His purpose. Without it we cannot return to live with God.

Christ, in His own words, told us with incredible clarity that someone like Oprah has almost zero chance of entering the Kingdom. By almost zero, what we know Christ used to paint the picture was an animal that weighs a couple thousand pounds has a better chance of getting through the eye of a sewing needle than a rich (monetarily) person getting into the Kingdom. Why did Christ teach us this? He knew that money was and would always be a worldly pursuit. And you cannot love the world and love God (the Kingdom) at the same time (1 John). It really is that simple. Oprah has zero knowledge of the one truth of Jesus Christ.
She has the knowledge she just rejected it.

"The eye of the needle' was a natural gate in the road where the camels had to get down on their knees to go thru it. It has nothing to do with a metal needle of a sewing machine. Jesus was signifying that we have to have a bit of humility and get down on our knees before God.

How can you be sure? If charity is done in secret, we would never know about it. Most people I know may announce some of their charitable contributions publicly as a way to inspire others to do the same, but remain quiet on the majority of their generosity.

I'm so grateful for this video. I left a word of faith, hyper-charismatic, and prosperity gospel teaching church about a year and a half ago due to questioning a lot of their teachings and having my eyes opened. That's mostly thanks to your videos! Since leaving that church, I've felt a bit empty in my faith.
This video in particular has convicted me. I didn't realize that I was still holding to some of the New Thought teachings from my previous church.

Thankfully, I left that church just before they began using The Passion Translation, and I learned the truth about said translation around the time I left. I thank God for placing God fearing, Bible believing Christians in my life since leaving who have strongly recommended the ESV, which is now my favorite translation. I make an effort to read the gospel of John every few months or so. I'm about to start a full Bible reading from front to back. I will be sure to keep your advice in mind as I do.
