Nice John. There is a Norway maple at my sister in laws place. She bought the place after my uncle passed way. His father built the house in 1920. My mother’s father.
The Norway maple was planted about 35 years ago while my uncle lived there.
Have a great day John. Sure enjoyed this video.

Howdy John, there's a lot of character in the grain of that log. Yeah, the Norway maple is like a giant weed with shallow roots that kills everything nearby under it's canopy in the forest. Ok for suburbs but not our native forest.

Thanks, Paul! It is good now that nurseries have stopped selling them around here years ago. But I still keep cutting them down and pulling them out all around our property.

Good evening John, it obviously takes a skilled person like yourself to work an alien log. I was not familiar with the story of the Norway Maple. Very interesting. Enjoyed watching you mill it. Each slab was interesting and somewhat unique. Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Great video, Ben

Thanks so much, Ben! I know I keep saying that I have to start selling some of this wood, but it is going to be very hard to let it go because it is so beautiful.

John. A question. Do you sharpen your own Woodland Mills bandsaw blades. ?

Noel..... It is funny you ask that question! I just received my shipment of Woodland Mills, sharpener and setter. I haven't even taken them out of the box yet. But that will be the next project.

@@thebradleysoncatbirdhill6849 I was wondering if you could do a video on sharpening those blades. I don’t have a mill and doubt I ever will. I’m just interested on how it’s done. Tools used, and method’s.
Just for my own interest in those mills and other brands that use the same type of blade. Seems a number of months ago I got interested in watching logs getting milled by what ever ways of cutting. Bandsaw and circular blades, engine powered, water fall power.
Any way, sorry for taking up your time. If that could be a video you would like to do, that would be great, if not that’s great too. I just curious.
      Have a great day 🪵👍🏻👋🎄🚜

Nothing yet, Gary! I'm actually looking forward to it getting below freezing so the ground will harden up, and I can do more tractor work!

It's a shame they became invasive, Noel! They really are amazing shade trees.

Once again just some stunning slabs from an ugly looking tree. Man I love that machine! 👍

Thanks, Marty! It took me probably almost 2 years to figure out which saw mill would fit my needs and budget, and I could not be happier with Woodland Mills.
