• HOW TO ADJUST PLASTIC ...
Are your plastic frames in need of an adjustment? This video tutorial by 39dollarglasses.com shows you how to adjust them in a few easy steps. Whether they sit slightly crooked on your face or if you need to adjust the temples (arms). - Навчання та стиль
One important step she left out that helped me is after you bend it, run it under cold water so the plastic hardens. Otherwise, it will tend to slowly bend back to it's original shape
I had some pair of glasses that were sitting so crooked on my face others started to notice it and i got a new pair. I missed the old ones but couldnt stand how crooked they were. No matter how many times i went back to the glasses shop to get adjusted, they were still crooked! I did the blowdryer trick and now they fit great and i love how they look on me! Thank you so much!!

Best video of all time! I bought sunglasses from you guys a few months ago and they were bent from day 1 with one temple sitting higher than the other. I was just like whatever and wore them anyways. But they always bothered me. I googled how to fix bent glasses and this video came up. I just did the hairdryer trick with the switch on HOT and HIGH for 60 seconds and did the bend. Now the sunglasses are perfectly aligned.
Customer for life here!
You're the type we see walking around qith crooked glasses. I see.
Fix yo sh*t, makes you look like a psycho. Just saying.

This is easy but too scary for someone who only has one pair of glasses 😂😂😂
bexiah same
My frames cost $400 (with no middleman), I'm doing it with a professional lol.
I felt the same as you, my glasses also had a hefty price tag on them too, but I had an old pair of glasses that I tried it on first and to my surprise, it worked really well. Tried the 1 min. heat first and the bridge did give some, heated it again and it bent to the degree that I wanted. You have to gently bend it, not forcibly, but gently. I am now wearing glasses that don't fall off my face. I made the bridge pliable and the ear portions pliable. Very satisfied with not having to go to the eyeglass store. Another thing, after heating to the degree that it was bendable, I also held it in place until the portion that I was heating cooled enough so that it couldn't be bent again and held the new degree that it was bent to.
Same and mine were expensive so I'm trying to hide it from my parents or I will be dead

I got mine about 5 days ago and the temples are crooked. You can even kinda twist them around, but not that much 😅😩😤 I’ve just gotten them and they’re already breaking, what good news.....
I just put the hairdryer on the bridge for one minute and bended it so that it sits better to my left ear. It works! While putting the hairdryer, I made sure to keep it at a minimum distance and I turned the frames continuously so that the heat can go everywhere evenly. Finally I can put on this frame I bought months ago without feeling weird! Thanks for the tip!
If you have transition, or anti-scratch/anti-glare, heat will damage the lenses. I would remove your lenses before heating up the frame. They should have mentioned this in the video.
True I just ruined a pair of glasses
Great point MrTassadarzo! We're in the process of making new videos, we'll be sure to include that bit of information :)
Covering the lenses should also work
Yes, I just had America's Best ruin my lenses this way. Sent them back to get new lenses. Then the frames came back oxidized and misshapen with lenses that don't quite fit the frames. I'm done.
You can just use water which will make sure the lenses won’t heat up too much, but don’t let the water get on the lens. Just use the tap, don’t go boiling water for obvious reasons.
The way she looked at me when she put the glasses on... never blinking... deep inside my soul.
Super helpful!
Just bought a coach sunglasses with misaligned arms. Done this blow dry thing( made sure the lenses are covered) and perfect!
Many thanks!
♥️
This is the most useful video! Now i dont have to readjust them everytime i need to! I didnt know you can bend it. Thanks
Seriously
Michael Campbell yes seriously im new to wearing glasses LOL
Thank you for all the lens meltdown, crack, damage etc. concerns. I cut some 3 ' x 12" strips of rag and wrapped them around my lenses and aimed at the bridge with as little of the ragged part involved as possible and it worked fine. No problems. No lens eating monsters out of the closet, or aliens lens probes. The cloth remained cool to the touch as did the lens while the frame, bridge, temple stems got hot enough to bend.
This worked perfectly. Thank you.
I would recommend hot water instead of a blow dryer or a heat gun. That's how I did my my adjustments. I don't know what the heat tolerance is for some of these lenses today, but if you overheat those things, you're potentially out some serious cash. I don't think hot water can reach those kind of damaging temperatures. Depending on the frames, you may not need as much heat as you think. I was able to make all the adjustments I needed with nothing more than hot water. Plastic is more pliable than you think with a little heat.
This is why I love everything online. I had two pairs of plastic glasses that I've been slipping down my face for the last 2 years and I finally did something about it and Google how to fix loose glasses in came on this video. Worked like a charm thanks so much!
Glad we could be of service to you Gina :)

39dollarglasses. Your tutorial worked wonders for me.
So happy to hear that it helped you and saved you a trip to the store :)
The guy that showed you how to adjust the frames using the paper face was awesome 👌!
0:48 Bro, thank you. I seen another video and dude said u bend at the corner to adjust for this. And it made no sense to me because it would cause it to break doing it that way. Your way of heating the bridge and adjusting there makes complete sense and eliminates the stupid way the other guys video i seen. 👍
This worked great! I didn't even have to bend them. The heat allowed the frame to bend itself back into position.
Helpful. I can't wait to adjust my glasses after work👓
Is getting used to a new pair making them feel not right.Been back to shop , though no such luck . This video works so far . Well done , and thanks !
Good to hear David :)
Great video! If I only watched it yesterday, it would had saved me several hours...
Thanks for this, never thought to straighten/level by adjusting at the nosepiece , Works great.
Thank you!! I tried it and it worked!!! In so happy...now I can adjust my own glass! Thank you so much!
Worked for me, thank you. You should have a warning about anti-reflective lenses though.
Very helpful and simple! Thanks!
This is the best way. I tried it right after i finished this video.
If you don't want to use heat, I put some heavy weight against my glasses to hold them in a position to give the frames tension in the adjustment I want. I left it over night and took the weights off and it works.
This helped alot. I couldnt get them perfect but it worked good.
Thank you for the hair drier trick!!!
IMPORTANT!!!! Don't do this if you have transition, blue blocker, anti glare etc lenses. I just did it and now there's spider cracks through my entire lense! The only reason I don't care is because I'm swapping them out for my corrected lense but I used a towel to block the heat but the frame heated up and transferred it to my lense and ruined one of them. You've been warned!
Did you cut the towel to size? Just wrapping it uncut provides no means of controlling how much of the lens is protected.
Thank you
maybe puting a thin strip of cloth/towel in boiling water and then placing that on the site that needs to be adjusted would probably keep the heat moving to other areas to a minimum
You can pop the lenses out.
They are a little loose on my nose, but I am afraid I will screw them up if I attempted this.
TonTon yep
Same
TonTon if they are only a little lose Han just buy those rubber sleeve things for the arms of the glasses off amazon. Idk what they are called but you can just search for them
When I brought my glasses to lenscrafters he heated them up to adjust them. He didn't use a hair dryer but he did use something to heat up the plastic
You’re a saint! So easy.
Thank you so much love it did it the way you said
Big thumbs up... Resolved my issue
I used hot water instead n it worked for me. My glasses are no longer falling easily.
I have some bone on one side of my nose that pushes the glasses off center...and it also creates some annoying pressure....are their any aftermarket fixes for plastic glasses such as in the vid?
Thanks!
This video is really helpful for me❤️
Good to hear, you are welcome Shkafi.
It worked great for me.
i love you guys for this video. thumbs up
I was about to buy a new glasses
Thank you so much
Just did it.. Really helpful..👍
I always end up adjusting my eyeglasses. However, I don't use the hairdryer. I tend to adjust at the joints of the eyeglass when one side sits higher than the other and if they slip down my nose, I use Keepons which I discovered about 6 years ago looking for a way to keep my glasses on my face. They work wonderfully!@
Great ty, sounds better than a lot of people destroying their glasses.
Thank you sooo much.. It really helps alot❤️
if u guys have your presciption u can get cheap backup glasses on zenni optical. i got 2 pairs for 44 with shipping ...took 1.5 weeks and , they have expensive looking frames and budget frames .. they do all the transition lenses and all that .
This is the most useful video on the issue with misaligned glasses. Got a pair of expensive prescription sunglasses, and since my right ear is a tick higher than the other, new frames need to be adjusted. My old optometrist (she knew how to fix these things) does not work there anymore and the new person, who claims she is doing that job for 30 years, has no clue what to do...... My glasses were still higher on the one side, the person shrugging her shoulders: there is nothing I can do anymore, i tried EVERYTHING. I left the store VERY upset because I was afraid she is going to damage the frame. And here is help! It worked wonderfully, I softened the bridge and twisted the frame, it fits now!!!!! Bent the arm ends a bit down that they don't slide down my nose. Perfect fit within minutes. Thank you for this video. I guess I have to order from 39dollarglassesDATcom in the future. Saves me a lot of money.
thank you for your tips, this video helped me a lot
Thanks! 2018 viewer btw.
OMG THANKYOU
You are welcome :)
Wow this actually works I put the blow dryer to the frame for 60 seconds and then I gently bend them so they would hook onto my ears and not slide off my face. it worked perfectly just be very careful
Wow!!! She's beautiful

Intersting thought my man, thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
you're a lifesaver
awesome! worked so well thank youuu
Great video!
My glasses are brand new (plastic) and do not sit even when on a flat service and when they’re upside down, so I know the temple arms at the hinges were made slightly uneven, what should I do?
I feel like asking for a new pair because I hate the idea of having new glasses bent just because they were made crooked.
Also if I do adjust them myself how would I know if it’s the hinge that’s uneven or the middle the nose pad bit?
Thank you
You can try heating up the glasses with a blowdryer so the plastic is more flexible. As we commented in the other video, if you are nervous about breaking the glasses you can always bring them to your local optical store to get checked out.
Great tip thanks
Thank you for the help!
if you want to adjust the arms, dip them in boiling water for 30-60 sec instead. safer for the lenses
I’m going to do this now. Wish me luck!
How many watt hairdryer? And at what setting? High? Low?
I suggest this 9 year old video be updated. Also the water cooling it quickly is a solid technique that should be added. :)
Does this work on thin arms, and on aviator glasses?
Been in the optics business a long time and, unless the problem is a twisted bridge, twisting the bridge of your frame is a bad idea, especially if the lenses are progressives.
I just got my glasses and I slightly bent it by accident... too scared to do it, there's nothing really wrong with it I think it's just a bit loose on the other side adjustment might work... I actually broke my previous glasses by bending it...
I wanna try this but, im scared
Everytime I play sports like badminton, volleyball, basketball my glasses keep on sliding down and sometimes it falls
This is the only problem keeping me from being a better player
Will the heat damage polarized sunglass lenses? I just received my Ray Ban Wayfarers and they sit crooked, but I'm worried that heating the bridge will affect the polarized lenses.
Excellent
genius. thanks
How do you adjust plastic frames to suit bigger heads?
Oh shît I have the exact same glasses😱
Just now received Ray Ban Liteforce RB4213 and unfortunately they are a
bit wide to my face. They are made from high end durable and flexible
plastic. I have tried heating them and bending, but even following all
the procedures with hot water or hair drier, they will return to the
previous shape. Is there any way I could bend the bridge to make them
narrower or bend legs? Thank you.
Thanks
It worked. Thank you (:
What heat setting does the blowdryer have to be in?
what frames are in the video, very cute
I DON'T want any heating up. Just bending
Wat if it snap when u bend it
That's what I'm afraid of.
Alanis L. Merced Diaz u tried this method already?/ u can try it in urcheap sunglass/eyeglass
+lalagirl211 that's why we use the hair dryer to heat up the plastic
Don't use hot water. If your lenses have anti- reflective coating or any other touchy lens material you could pit the lenses with too much heat. Just some advise from a licensed Optician . Good luck...
howsim I Just tried this with a blow dryer and ruined one of my lenses. Now any light source has an exaggerated halo effect :( I sure wish the video would have included a warning about lenses potentially getting damaged by too much heat. Fixed my frames, though............!
What about the lenses? Won't they be ruined if the hair dryer hits them when you're trying to adjust?
Hi Nancee, great question :) if you feel uncomfortable doing this while the lenses are in, you can always take them out and put them back in afterwards. Most of the time it's fine, unless you keep the heat focused on one spot for too long or if the dryer is extra hot. Let us know if you have any more questions!
I just heated my brand new frames and glasses for 60 seconds. Frame became soft and pliable but ruined my lens coating. Probably should heat for much less and be careful not to bend the lenses. Not happy.
Why not use hot water instead of a blow dryer??
Hairdryer alternative?
Great!
Cool!
Why can't i find any videos of how to make my glasses fit looser to accommodate my big humongous head 😭
once bend can you bend them back to the original form?
Im pretty positive you can.
Good lance
0:53 still crooked
its to scary to do that I dont have extra money to provide a new eyeglasses when I broke my own eyeglasses
The key is to not twist too much all at once. Make slight adjustments.
It does not work, pliz help me
Yeesssssssssssss thanks
Better than that DIY channel. 40 year old virgin over therr
you should NEVER adjust a frame by twisting the bridge!! pushes one lens towards the cheek and one away from it messing up the lens alignment!!!!! completely wrong!
So, tell everyone the correct way, unless you just wanted to whine, here.
@@RichLP1 Maybe there isn't a right way genius and this guy is just trying to prevent people from messing up their glasses.
Aishling Hughes yup. absolutely. take it to any eyeglass spot they’ll adjust it for free professionally. it’s also super easy to align one area and mess up another.
Narmina Osmanova I cant tell if that’s sarcasam
Well, what brought you to this video if you know what you're doing?
I want to do this but I am afraid I will break my ray-bans
"I don' wanna do this, afraid I'll break my ray-bans" Make a great lyric line in some California ditty...
The microwave makes the screws spark... Help please.:)
Hi Samuel, try using warm water or a blowdryer.
Omg the one side wasn't even, but if the stop sliding I guess it's worth it. XD
Please do note that exposing photochromic lenses against hair-dryers will definitely deteriorate its transition effects and radiation safety filters.
Hi Satvin! You're absolutely right! We have added this information in our updated video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpdcT...
@@39dollarglassesVideo thanks so much for your efforts.
I tried this with a different brand and ruined my lenses. They got scratches and cloudy. I should have just gone to my eye doctors office and had them do it for free. Now I have to buy new glasses.
I read somewhere that certain lense types are susceptible to heat and should not be cleaned with HOT water. I imagine that one must be careful when trying this technique, to not use heat on the lenses so much as concentrating it on the frame. This warning should be included in the video as well as the video description area.
You must have giant sticky finger nails and u must be careless
You`re right, this happened to me, too. But, in fact, the people who work at the opticians ruined my glasses, not me :D They`ve used hot air to bend it, and they did something wrong... I was lucky, coz it was their fault, so I got new lenses.
هي دي مكنه استشوار
pls tell me can i use this to my rb4179 rayban lite force polarized?.. coz the frame is to big for me.. i need to adjust :'( pls help thanks
I tried this once and completely screwed up my lenses and my frames. If you're not good with your hands I advise you take them to your local eye center and or Walmart and they will fix them for you. Although they will warn you beforehand that they are not liable for damages, and they may or may not charge you a ridiculous price for bending plastic... Honestly at this point just invest in eye surgery. That's what I'm doing and hopefully one day I won't need glasses.
or I cab get a Phillips screw and tighten them
Rachael Baynes or you cab take a taxi
Nah... twisting the bridge will make the frame uneven. The bottom part of one is nearer the cheek.
