- I'll give you the best tips I know before you start delivering for Grubhub. This platform is very unique in the food delivery industry, so it is important for beginners to learn as much as possible when you first get started. I will share a few tips before ever getting into your car and completing your first order. This is an important step because drivers must know what they are getting themselves into with this independent contractor life, as it is much different than a normal job as an employee. I will then lead you through the best ways you can use Grubhub to your advantage to make the most money.
Throughout the video, you will hopefully gain more knowledge about which orders to accept and which you will decline, while also strategizing a plan to earn more with Grubhub. I can't tell you specific examples of exactly what to do because every Grubhub market is different, but hopefully I can do my best to guide you on the right path. If you enjoyed this video, consider subscribing, as I try to make the best videos I can to help you on your Grubhub and other food delivery and financial goals.

You forgot to mention that some orders get rejected by other drivers so by the time you get it, its already late. Thats why you have to adjust the time saying youre running late, say Im waiting on the order. If you dont, and have too many of those, youll get a letter saying "lets keep the orders rollin" which is a warning you can be deactivated for too many if those. So cover yourselves.
That’s good information. I’ll need to make sure I’m always stating the orders are late at the restaurant when they aren’t ready
They've fixed that problem.
I do this for every single order!
the way to prevent that is to decline any orders below X dollars. What X should be varies depending on how expensive your city is to live in. In my town, my minimum is $8 and most drivers will take those, so I rarely get a hand-me-down.
Cool timing! I was onboarded with GH in February 2021 and just hit over 1000 lifetime deliveries with GH this month. They sent me a nice email as well as a redemption code for $30 worth of free stuff on their site. Redeemed it for the XL/Catering bag! And just like their other bags...stellar quality.
Also...did an experiment yesterday by solely working GH and NO multi-apping. Whew....that was a loooooong day. I live/work in a major city and my low month this year was $29.72/hour, high month was $47.65/hour (yes...you read that right) and my 2021 average is $37.51/hour.
Yesterday, just working GH? Granted it was slow, but even with a Mission (same thing as an UE Quest) I only made $26.23/hour. My take away? Multi-apping is the only way to go and be sure to NEVER get deactivated from an app.
Now? Back to mult-apping...lol.
That's awesome your earnings are so high! It is interesting to see what will happen if you just work one app, but I definitely prefer multi-apping
@@PhoenixDeliveries Thanks and I saw the difference the moment I added more apps. Started doing 100% DD and like most dashers I was capping out in the mid-high 20's as avg per hour. The first additional app I added was Postmates...lol...and my hourly almost immediately jumped up to $30/hour once I started cherry picking between DD and PM.
Keep up the good work!
BTW....just cherry picked my way to my 30th delivery (4 shop/deliver and 26 delivery only) on Shipt yesterday and have that graduation pack (2 more free t-shirts and bag) coming from them. Ill take it!
Very helpful thanks
Good video! I have been with Grubhub for a little over one year. What stood out from your video is not working on a block for Grubhub because the offers are long miles, bad drop offs or time consuming going to a military base housing that requires a day pass in my market. Just turning on available and that is it. Keep up the good work on the videos.
Thank you so much! I sometimes like working on block but it’s so much more convenient without a block. I don’t see a major reason to always schedule myself especially when I work other apps too
I disagree the block gets you more offers without the block I go a longer length of time without receiving any orders
I've noticed that it doesn't make a difference for me if I'm scheduled or not. I make about the same either way.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome! Happy I could help!
Thanks for great vid. just started UE, DD, real happy with UE, not so much DD, but I haven't done "scheduled" DD yet. I will be adding GH at some time in the future.
I'm glad you liked the video. Grubhub is great to have alongside DD and UE. It really lets you have your pick of what you want to work that day
Great Intel...
Thanks!
Great job 🎉
Thanks!
Thank You! For mentioning what I've found to be reality.... I can't hit pro level... it's just not possible.... some shift I have hit it. Buy then I have a 50% day... Also, we're dealing with snowy/icy roads.... And their time lines, don't take that into account..... I not trying to get there anymore.....
Yeah, it's just not worth it to try to accept that many bad orders. Select the best orders you can and your earnings will probably increase!
Another thing that happens is the app will freeze for a good drop for good money and it will go against your rating and then you will get runs for very little pay for miles away, and another thing that happens is you only have seconds to accept a task and you accept it only to find the drop is 20 miles away and then another task will come in taking you another 15-20 miles away wiping out any money you made for the day, I worked yesterday for four and a half hours and was taken over thirty miles away and I ended up in rush hour traffic and I was out 30$ in gas for the day, I made 67 dollar's minus 30$ gas, I made 37$ for over four hours of work 😡
Jacob! You’re so close to 1,000 subs!!!
I know! We're so close!
Good info thanks! Do I need to track miles separately for each delivery app?? I hope not..I think you just need a yearly total for tax purposes yes??? Please answer...this is IMPORTANT!
GH has since seemed to have done a little better in wait times as of late. However, what I noticed is that they will locate the driver closest to pick up when the order is made, then just delay the offer by a few minutes. This means one can often be driving away from a location, just to be asked to make a U-Turn, over and over. Ex: Drop off from a less busy area. Try to drive back to the center of the action. After a few minutes, it gives you an offer to pick up almost exactly where you were just at. Now, that's fine. It happens. But it has happened so much to me recently compared to the past.
Yeah, they switched their logistics algo such that when I arrive, it's a lot better now -- I'm waiting about as often as I would for UE, which used to be so much better on waiting.
I just started last week. The 1st day I got slammed with orders. Now every time I've gotten on I don't get hardly any orders. I called support and they said everything looked fine. I think something I wrong cause sometimes I'll wait 2 hours and get 1 order.
Hi Jacob? hope u r doing well, Is Grubhub available in other markets than US?, Canada?, Mexico?, Big thanks!
Very recently I had $6 bonuses for Red Robin orders. I honestly usually avoid them but the payout was too good. And the orders were ready to go when I got there! Very curious as to that high of a bonus pay
I do find there are certain times where my bonus pay can get that high. I’m curious if anyone has seen higher than a $6 bonus
That map is total bullshit I went into the red areas and set for an hour with nothing.
Find an area that has about 20-30 restaurants in a mile radius, and wait there. Works for me.
10am-10pm
Good video very informative thank you
I appreciate the feedback!
What is a good app/system to track miles accurately, when multi-apping? I've been told that all miles go into the same "business miles" pot come tax season, and that miles DON'T have to be separated between apps when driving or during a shift. Is this true? If not, how can I record my miles separately, easily and accurately when multi-apping?
I use Gridwise to track my miles and my earnings. I really like it. I keep it on my entire shift and don’t separate the miles when using multiple apps
Any GrubHub drivers, able to deliver in other cities AND STATES? other then the one the signed up in...? Trying to see if i can deliver in multiple states that are close to me
The reason that GH has so many high mileage orders is because they are matching driver ETA with order being ready ETA. Instead of having the driver wait at the merchant and not get paid, GH uses the approach of having you spend that time instead driving to the merchant and getting paid for those extra miles. I get what they are trying to do, but these high mileage orders just don't make sense especially if you use 2 apps at once. I also think this is why so many high mileage orders exist because they don't like so many drivers driving for their competition while doing GH. Also be extremely careful not to drop too many blocks as if you are a repeat offender they will put you on block restriction and from what I hear you never get taken off block restriction for awhile if ever.
If you can avoid the highway at all costs do it. The mileage is often wrong with most of those orders. You are being paid for the estimated miles, not the actual mileage, also you are not being paid to get on the highway. The mile-time trade-off for the highway is often not worth it. I see mileage saving up to 10 miles per day avoiding the highway which translates into a boost in the $/mile. I often park away from the restaurant depending on the direction the customer is in. You can get orders while off schedule. I have worked on and off schedule, full-time =40-44hrs, part-time = 30hrs or less, tested newly released ideas, and generally maintain 100% acceptance for 5 almost 6 years.
The only thing I need to know about GrubHub is that they make it nearly impossible to use their platform - great business model! I will enjoy watching them go out of business before the end of the year! UE reigns supreme in Dallas. DoorTrash is an option for when UE goes dead, but only then.
It really is a struggle sometimes and not very user friendly. I would love for them to fix their app and the restaurant wait times
It’s not mandatory to activate your card.
What’s up, should I sign up as Car or bike?
I would recommend signing up with whatever you plan to use to complete deliveries
Not 5 pm til 8 pm. 5 pm til 9 pm
remember if u go far with order, and theres no places to eat out in the boonies, u have to drive back empty, keep this in mind
Why these food delivery platforms don't have an integrated mileage track so when we look at a trip we can see paid miles and also miles we drove that are not paid?😏
the mileage shows up on mine. I will say, for example, 5 miles, $7 Including tip and show the general destination on a GPS map.
How do i order a card
I see a lot of complaints about GH, thing is, most people who are posting are whining. The guys making money don't hang around places like this. I do fairly well with GH in NC San Diego. But, this area is ideal for GH, thoguh DD and UE have the lionshare of the business, but they have a lot more drivers. UE has more volume, but when I sign on to them, I don't get more orders, and GH pays more. So, why should I work UE?
GrubHub kept taking me to the college part of my town and they don't tip, so I drove all the way to the farthest part of town away from there and lo and behold guess where I was edged to? The college area, little by little, drop by drop, so I turned the app off and drove 15 miles away and I got a offer and I couldn't see where it was because I was driving and guess where it was?
Change your market with different zip code. It’s so easy!!!
Grubhub needs more bank information what do I do
GH send me the back ground variation and my signature is not going through, am I the only one facing that
I was on hold for three years!!! Only worked when I moved to a different state!!! And I still had to wait till they had a spot!
can you help how Can i change my vehicle to bike on the grubhub app?
You can sort this out, waiting for support team may take forever. In my case I wrote many appeal with no positive response
It was XSOLVE 1 who sorted mine
It was XSOLVE 1 who sorted mine
Their acceptance rating is really unfair. It kinda forces you to take crap orders that arent worth it
Sure. That’s why I just ignore my acceptance rate since we aren’t punished for declining orders
It doesn't force you to since they can't really penalize you without breaking the law on independent contractors (that they cannot attempt to supervise us or dictate how we perform our job.) All they can do is ding you in the order you can sign up for shifts.
I applied for grub hub yesterday afternoon
Took me three years to get past onboarding process
I have a huge tax related problem with Grubhub. Last year I moved from Texas to Missouri for family reasons. I haven't driven for GrubHub for 8 months, but I did drive for them in 2022. I have a new driver license from a different state. Grubhub mailed my tax statement to the wrong address, and now I can't get on the app to get tax information because I have been deactivated. How can I report my income from Grubhub for tax purposes?
I'd reach out to their support team as soon as possible to see if they can send it to you again
@@PhoenixDeliveries Without access to the app (because I'm inactive), I cannot find out how to reach out to the support team. Any advice there?
You’ve got a few options. You can call their driver support number, email them, and submit an online request. I’d recommend trying all three of those until you can talk to someone about the issue
I signed up for grubhub but was waitlisted. How long does the waitlisted last?
It all depends on your market and the need for new drivers. I believe I waited over 6 months. Some markets could be a lot less and others could be longer
I was on the waiting list bout an month
I waited about a month. Was taken off the waiting-list today. My wait was short because the Raleigh NC area is booming in population.
It varies, I waited 3 months.
I just got suspended for the first time what should I expect???
I'm not sure, as I haven't been suspended. Hopefully someone else in here can help you out
Which one pays more Doordash Grubhub??
Grubhub easy
GH pays more, but DD has more volume (and more drivers). I prefer GH.
People leave bag on porch without knocking...and dont know i will give a better tip...my ants love the bags so I get mad...why do the driivers leave bags? Grubhub has a section where I put a note...so the mistake is not on my end I hope I get an answer for this..Ive called GH many times
We have other orders to get to, and over 90% of people don’t tip when we wait. We don’t get paid to wait either like Instacart.
@@inky_._ghoul glad you were just on ...the persons who left the bag, didnt even knock to alert me they were leaving it...I know they dont get paid to wait but...instructions said to give to person...they didn't do that and lost a tip I would have given in cash thank you for answering 🤗🤗I do appreciate!
@@jaysasso4392if your instructions are clear and match the ‘hand it to me or contact-free type selection’ I’m sorry for your experience. In my experience, the typed instructions often do not match the delivery preference type and also many customers get upset if you knock and disturb their kids or animals so it can be confusing, hope your experience goes smoothly in the future:)
It’s not true that you will NEVER get more than you’re offered bc tonight I had a customer increase the tip by $10 AFTER I delivered.
Yeah that's true. That happened to me one time after I posted this video
Yes, it will happen sometimes, but not too often.
Grubhub is just like DoorDash. Messy.
It’s better than DoorDash as far as getting deactivated. Customer lie more on DD to get free food.
What about that new violation policy
This video was made before Grubhub's new violation policy. I might make another updated video about that
3 strikes and you are out, but will allowed to appeal, as I understand it. I got two in a row like a few days apart, scared me, but both timed out and I"m clear now of violations. Pay attention to delivery time. If you take a lot longer than you are expected to, call up the help desk and register on record WHY. That will help you when they do an eval. It's rarely your fault why you are late on delivery. What GH thinks is you are trying to pad your delivery time (because they add $ for time) and if you take too long too often they think you are scamming them. Call them when you are real late. If you are going to wait for an order, ALWAYS add time on the app. .
Not true I have had many customers add more on the tips
Grubhub is messy.
Stop the cap
GB will give you a violation for refusing too many offers .....3 strikes and you're OUT,...it might be better to go "unscheduled",...they will send text/messages wondering where you are if you shut app off for a break , when scheduled,.....they do have a 10 minute/pause break if you can find it while driving.
Not in CA, per Prop 22 they are not allowed. They might send you a nasty note, however.
You are so wrong about Grubhub dude
How so? I would love to expand my knowledge
