You know Ruan, its really interesting about where we would wear things. I sew a lot and make what takes my fancy rather than thinking where am I going to wear this after I heard someone at a sewcial catch up say "I dress for myself - not for work, or for home or whatever, but for myself". That freed me up to make and wear whatever I want anytime, anywhere- and I love it!! Total freedom.

Love that moment when you get your make's pairings, so right. This is the perfect pairing of material, pattern, and style. It looks amazing on you, Ruan, and it would be a crime not to show it off on a night out 😊

Frugal and f'ing fabulous!
Isn't if funny that runway models are always tall, but so many things rtw fit funny when you're tall? I'm rather heavy too, so double the fun!

What a stunning jumpsuit and the fabric choice is just perfect ❤ The construction of the elasticated waist does sound interesting and I agree with not wanting all that extra gathering around the waist 😃 Thanks for the detailed review and for organizing the Sew Frugal challenge again

Oh my goodness, that’s turned out blooming amazing! I adore the pattern & fabric combination and it looks so good on you! If you wanted to lengthen the legs a little more you could always sew a cuff to the bottom leg seam - just a strip the same length as the circumference and twice the depth you want to add plus seam allowances all around. Then sew the strip short ends together, fold wrong sides together along the circumference and match the seam with one of your leg seams. Then sew right sides together around the bottom edge of your trouser legs. If you want to flatten out the seam, topstitch the seam allowance upward into the leg.
I doubt anyone would even notice that the bottom edge is unhemmed anyway. Plus you can always say it’s a design choice!

I generally shy away from jumpsuits, I really don’t think they suit me…. However seeing this I HAVE to make it! It looks fab-u-lous on you! And it’s the perfect fabric. Super fancy!!! And sounds like really cool construction!! Win-win!!! Plus it’s totally cocktail worthy!

Really great make! It looks really lovely! You don’t need to hem the legs. I bought a Vogue pattern many years ago and they told us not to hem. I really scratched my head. It was fine. No one could tell. Even husband didn’t notice.

It's down to the fit with jumpsuits, and you’ve done a terrific job. The draped top into a fitted waist, not the easiest fit. The trousers part drape beautifully. Great job. Looks perfect on you.

Looks lovely! You could always layer it with a cardi over the top or a bodysuit underneath if you want to avoid being cold. Wasn't able to join in this year but thank you so much for organising.

Good explanation Ruan. Don't know that I will ever make any jumpsuit but it's always fun to listen to you. You look absolutely gorgeous...great colors for you. Just got my think pink box....will go and look for your unboxing next :). xx Karen. btw...cut out the wandflower...looks pretty but completely confused by how the pattern pieces even fit together...may give it a go another day...if you ever want to do a sewing tutorial...😉 yes...definitely participated in your wonderful challenge Ruan...you are one of the ones who encouraged me to keep going with the sewing...two entries submitted so far...working on a third but needed some food :)

I have some of that fabric that you've made your jumpsuit from in my stash. I haven't been able to steel myself to cut it as yet. Your jumpsuit looks lovely. That's how I plan to put the Westcliff dress together front, then back, then at the side seams. It's so much easier.
Oh I actually think this fabric would look amazing as the Westcliff!

Happy Easter Ruan! You jumpsuit is beautiful and looks fab on you! I think it's a good sign if your mum can honestly and playfully tell you when you look terrible. Currently my mum is telling me I look great for an 80 year old (I'm 46) due to my un-dyed grey hair. 😂

Being tall and wide I have never suited a jumpsuit. However, after seeing your northern sewl sisters avenir vlog I have bought the pattern and will be making it soon 🤩
Yes! I don't think I've seen a bodyshape that the Avenir doesn't look good on - go for it hone!

This looks lovely on you! I love the fabric you picked. I've been thinking about hacking this into a top for my college graduation in a burgundy rayon knit, and then probably making myself a full one to wear as well. I was looking for input from someone who has made it, and you've completely sold me on the pattern (I'm fairly tall as well and love undercover pajamas).

It looks fabulous on you. You’ve reminded me that I downloaded that pattern ages ago! I have a habit of downloading & sometimes even printing a pattern then forgetting about it, so as an added point for this years sew frugal I made myself use the free patterns where I had done just that. It stopped me spending time going back down that rabbit hole, allowed me time for two makes and also saved me buying new ink for my printer as it’s running out😂
My next plan is what to make for the Gathering, or do I wear something I’ve already made but hardly worn 🤷🏼♀️
That was such a good idea - I've done the same - had some printed patterns and then forgotten about them. Yes I'm not sure what to do about The Gathering - I do have a dress/fabric in mind but then I could wear this jumpsuit or what I wore to Scottish Frocktails as only worn that once! Decisions decisions!

I remember seeing everyone's unboxing of that months box, and when I saw the fabric I was like omg how striking. I had such fomo I contacted Hayley and managed to buy some fabric she had left over 😊. It's still in the stash. I might make something similar soon. You look beautiful in your make Ruan as always 😊

Love your jumpsuit. I have wanted to make one for a long time but wouldn't because I was so overweight, but I have lost 25 lbs and things are looking much better on me now. I might just try the Luna.
If you used a tecel or bamboo jersey in black or navy, I think it would look lovely for a night out with some lovely sparkly jewellery. You would like a million dollars, not that you don't in the one you just made. Fantastic.

Looks great. I dont know whether its on the pattern, but i think it would look nice with the top extended, saltwater slip style, or with a gathered short skirt or even just as a cami top xx

Love the jumpsuit Ruan. I have no idea where you find the time to do everything you do. I have a couple of makes to put into sewfrugal (well I need to complete one of them and I’m off to do it in a minute), then it’s onto sew April Blouse which you are also involved in.
