  • Played through a 1957 Fender Tremolux with an Electro-Harmonix Soul Food for a little extra grit.
This was a fun comparison as my main gigging guitar is a T64v.
Recorded through an SM7b, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Logic Pro, with no signal processing.

Eastman 100% for me, better pickups, more "air" in the tone.

Eastman has Lollar P90s which are pretty expensive pickups.

I used to have an original ’59 330td with case in great all original condition. Should have kept it! Nice demo!

In my headphones it's Eastman. But I'll agree with the person who said the amp was the star.

Can you compare the neck size/shape on these two? I like the sound of the Eastman in this and other vids but I can't seem to find a good description of the neck. I prefer a chunky neck myself and it seems most imports in this style have slim necks. Thanks for posting a good comparison. (The star of the show is the Tremolux.)

MIghty fine playing! Which did you prefer playing? I preferred the sounds out of the Eastman over the Gibson.

Thank you! Honestly, probably the Eastman.... I love vintage guitars; the mojo and history and all, but I think the Eastman plays and sounds better. All personal preference though!

The Eastman would be better for gigging for around 1,500 vs $5-7000 for that Gibson!

Do you think that tonal difference was in the tailpiece where there is downward pressure to the top(es330) and the top pulling force of the Eastman and bigsby? I’ve seen them side by side and the Eastman is a better made guitar. Love Gibsons but they are what they are. Those Murphy aged are more comparable to that Eastman in build quality, at least from the outside. They also don’t produce near as many as Gibson.

I'd rather hear about a comparison of build quality, feel, etc. than a pure sound demo which never translates well over youtube.

They both sound very good. I would trust the Eastman build assuming it is equal to other Chinese copies. I have a Gibson 330 and recently had a chinese Casino copy and the build and feel was excellent ; just junk electrics and poly. This guitar has rectified any of those problems.

@@es330 Eastman actually goes above the Chinese copies and even Gibson USA in terms of build quality, most people compare them to Custom Shop Gibson, which is pretty insane!

How do you feel about the guitar? I bought it some time ago and played it, but feels kinda rigit and because there's no center block, you get very poor sustain. I'm pretty sad about it actually... Also the taipiece and that kind of bridge just makes it have more tension on the strings I think. Dynamics are not good if you ask me, probably because of the lack of center block and bridge... The only thing I can make it sound nice is to use some low volume slap delay and room reverb and shit...
