I like to watch your videos right before I ride and find your tips and examples so helpful! This video is excellent since I am working on shoulder in at trot with my horse. Your "bad" examples really help and remind me to not to do those things. I can see my rides are improving by channeling you as my good example! I like that you ride different horses and explain what you are doing as you are riding. Thank you so much!
we appreciate your guidance ❤. don’t know who changed your videos but we love the graphics , the still photos , and the drone overviews ! you are helping all of us understand . thank you ❤
Lately my horse and i have been working with this. I also try to watch/rewatch your lesson your before each riding sessions. You and your horses do a wonderful job and really help everything make sense. Also the counting/cadance of steps in each gait has really helped me alot along with visualizing what you do with your horses truly helps so much! Thanks for the great lessons from both you and your lovely horses. It only helps if it makes sense to me and tgat is what you do ... yayyyyyyyy!
I said it before and i'm saying it again. I was just talking about my issues with this action to a friend who has experience with horsriding. Ow 2 days later I come across your video. Thank you I will take your tips with me for next week. With your outside leg, you don't ask anything? You don't touch the hors with it?
My boy has done shoulder in on long lines but not inhand. He's a long way away from under saddle. One day we'll get there, but at least we can work on the movement ❤
I always have a hard time knowing if I have enough angle or too much of it. Thx for the tip. I'll try to imagine a person standing between the rail and my horse's shoulder. 😊
My biggest struggle with shoulder in is how subtle it is! I tend to overbend AND overdo the angle because I'm not sure I'm getting it. Can you actually feel the three separate tracks? Will definitely look for the space between the outside shoulder next time. I also wonder if maybe I could feel it better if I was sitting instead of posting it? My instructor said that when I'm sitting I'm getting behind the movement and it's throwing off our balance, so for now I'm posting through it to better balance.
Shoulder-in is hard! Make sure you have the prerequisites down first. Eventually, yes, you can feel when it is right. Look for the space between the rail and the shoulder and also try setting up a camera to film in the corner. Seeing the video can help train your feel for the movement. Let me know how it goes!
It could mean that he wasn't consistent in the contact. Maybe he was putting his head up and down and not staying on the bit consistently? Check out this video - it will help: ua-cam.com/video/bfgOQ1spR3k/v-deo.html
Shoulder in right is difficult for me and my horse. What would be the solution for falling to the inside, coming of the rail/fence ? She doesn't react to leg aids very well then and sort of goes through my right leg.
I am working on this with my horse now. I find he wants to come further off the wall so I am definitely using lots of inside leg to keep him from turning. If I was to relax my inside leg he would be completely off the rail and in the middle of the arena. Any tips there?
Really focus on using your outside aids to keep him from overbending. Once you have him at the right angle, relax your aids and see if he can hold it. Shoulder-in is hard! Do little bits at a time. If you are having trouble, go back to the prerequisites!

Can shoulder in be done at all these gaits? Or only trot and canter?
And at the walk!

Do judges ask for it at the walk or the canter?

I did a competition and the judge said that my pony was "unsteady in head" - what does this mean and how do i fix it?? x

Really use your outside rein/aids to keep her straight. This video might help: ua-cam.com/video/8VeZqknk8Fs/v-deo.html

my horse wo't do it. D I just keep giving the aid every ride until he does it? I have to really bend his head and push strongly with my leg to get it
Make sure you can easily do the prerequisites first!
