    Watching this in theaters was so crazy! I really liked how they tied in stuff from the old movie because that one was really good and my childhood!

    Now that I'm done watching, it was a great reaction. Your thought process is appreciated and logical going into how his views are and how even you'd be watching the stream had me cheesing. Enjoy your weekend. Oh, I think this is a continuation in the same world but separate stories. Kinda like ATLA and Korra.

    There is a season for tornadoes, however they can happen at any time of the year without warning. I remember one a few years back happening in December and it was pretty destructive. Weather is unpredictable.

    • @reaIixx
      @reaIixx 2 місяці тому

      Well I mean we know several days in advance if there is severe potential for a large area. You are thinking of the Western Kentucky Tornado, spawned by the Quad State Supercell. Otherwise known as the Mayfield tornado. Part of the larger December 10th-11th outbreak (2021). We can see the conditions being right days in advance though and there was a Moderate (4/5) risk area that day. It isn't no warning. That kind of outbreak was also what you'd expect in April or May

    • @phoenixwing5133
      @phoenixwing5133 2 місяці тому +3

      @reaIixx Yeah, that was the one.
      We do have advanced warning systems now, but you never truly know how bad the storm will grow or where the tornado will hit exactly. I've been woken up in the middle of the night many times to tornado sirens, I think those are the worst because it takes you by surprise.
      And then, like you mentioned, there are those outbreaks that'll happen at times of the year that you don't expect. Perhaps there is warning from weather channels but even then, in my experience at least, when it actually hits many people are caught off guard and only have minutes to get to safety.
      Tornadoes suck lmao 💀

    This movie was surprisingly accurate in its science, but not totally.
    1. Tornadoes don’t just vanish like that, they “rope out”. The best way I can explain it is they they thin out and sort of stretch, looking smaller and “rope-like”, before coming apart and vanishing. Wind speeds can actually increase when this happens.
    2. The theory of killing a tornado is entirely plausible, but you’d need so much absorbent material to have ANY effect that it’s realistically impossible. And even then, it would take some time to have effect. As a one-time effort to prove it can be done, sure, maybe someone will amass 30 tons of absorbent polymers and find a way to move it to the path of a tornado - but as a means of stopping tornadoes in their tracks whenever they occur? Fiction.
    3. Just like in the original Twister, if a storm is able to suck up a car or large object behind you, you’d be a goner much sooner.
    4. No Oklahoman would EVER get caught off guard by a tornado during storm season, ESPECIALLY during a once in a lifetime outbreak.
    5. Debris is generally a bigger danger than getting sucked up a tornado. Usually, collapsing structures are the leading cause of tornado related fatalities. For the sake of the film, they chose to just portray it as though getting sucked into the tornado was the real threat, because watching people get crushed to death would be a lot harder than just seeing people fly into the air, never to be seen again.
    6. It is strikingly silly that Tyler explained to Kate how the EF scale actually works (tornadoes aren’t assigned ratings until damage totality has been assessed, for instance the biggest tornado ever seen could be rated an EF1 if it only lived in an empty field and knocked down a tool shed and nothing else). Kate would absolutely know this given she was working for the weather service.
    7. The film exists in the same universe as the original. Kate is a student of Muskogee College, same as Jo and Bill. Dorothy 1 - 4 in the og film were created using grant money from the school, so stands to reason that the school kept the schematics and built more. Kate had Dorothy 5, which looks like it’s been deployed numerous times, which suggests that Jo and Bill pioneered a new way to study tornadoes that has been used commonly but the school since, even if Jo and Bill have moved on in their careers.

    Storm chasers are also critical to reporting tornado paths when warning people to take shelter in front of the tornado

    Loved the reaction! 👏👏👏 I actually enjoyed it more than the first movie.
    EF5 tornadoes can do insane damage, in fact the beginning scene under the overpass was a nod toward the Bridge Creek-Moore tornado of 1999 in which people tried to take shelter under a highway bridge. It’s the most well-known tornado overpass incident.
    And the Guin, Alabama tornado supposedly tore the foundations of homes from the ground. 😰

    The movie is more a standalone sequel/requel but it is in the same universe, yet has little or no narrative connection to its predecessor, and can stand on its own without a thorough understanding of the series, however, there are some easter eggs & references will probably flew over y'all heads.
    Also, by the way, little fun fact: the guy who was being the a**hole towards the person at the motel was Bill Paxton's son James (who have a cameo in this movie.) And it's was a tribute to his late father (who was co-star Helen Hunt in the first movie.)
    Plus, I'm get what you saying about staying inside especially during hurricane & tornado season, because it's not gonna stop people's daily lives going out and about especially enjoying yourself regardless of the weather as long you be careful and be mindful out there.
    So, overall, I'm like the movie, yes it's have flaws but I still enjoyed it, the ride based off the movie "Twister" in Universal Studios, it's been closed since 2015, sadly.
    Also, can y'all react to the movie "Challengers"? (which starred Zendaya)

    40:55 Regarding needing to sell t-shirts to make money when they have so many viewers, you have to realize that they also can't have normal jobs. The UA-cam channel has to pay normal living expenses for FIVE people, plus hotels, meals on the road, vehicle updates and repairs, insurance and gas etc etc. To do charity work on top of that, it's a whole lot of money altogether.

    Cool fun fact Glenn Powell’s parents have been in every movie he’s done, and his parents are the two older people behind them at the rodeo. Also, I definitely wouldn’t really say it’s a remake as they do mention that Dorothy is outdated in this but nonetheless the did a good job tying stuff into the original. The all white vehicles have characters from the Wizard of Oz on the back. Also Bill Paxton is the guy from the original and his son is actually in this as the guy who didn’t believe the tornado was happening in the motel after the rodeo scene!
