A note from Barry about this show...
This one is a very rare recording. It’s a show we did to open the music portion of the Kentucky Derby in 1975.
My small and talented band and my three beautiful friends and background singers had just begun our tour. “Mandy” had shot to the #1 spot and “It’s A Miracle” was moving up the chart. We were having a great time on the road, but we were broke.
I remember that I bought a Ronco Rinestone Studder that I saw being advertised on some late night show. All of us sat in one of our hotel rooms and studded the skirts that the girls wore, because I couldn’t afford to buy them fancy outfits. (Check out their skirts and you’ll see our handiwork!).
We were so excited to be on the same bill as Blood, Sweat and Tears and headliner, Roberta Flack. The crowd was very kind to us and we left the stage on a real high.

Barry Manilow his voice is as good live as recorded. Seeing him in concert I will never forget his show was better than any other concert I had seen. He is the ultimate performer.

Just saw him 4-20-24 for the first time. I’ve seen some great concerts but this 80 yr old knocked it out of the park.

A great song. Still holds up 50 years later.
I was 14 when we heard this on the radio the first time. Me, my brother and some friends were out in the game shed behind the friend's house, playing ping pong. When Mandy came on the radio, we stopped playing and just stood there and listened. It was so good we never wanted it to end! Such a remarkable, special memory that we will always treasure. Barry, you are an international treasure and have had so much success; but if this were the only song you ever performed, it would be good enough for a lifetime. All good wishes to Barry and the fans!
A great performance and maybe it's just the 1975 recording, but I loved the unaffected voice coming through on that. No dripping reverb, just some Barry and it was lovely. The segue into Could It Be Magic is further win.

His voice has a nice depth and texture with that little soft vibrato that seemed to come through better live. I’ve always thought he was even better live than the recordings, and the recordings are perfection!

Classics like this will never fade, this takes me right back to 1975 as a 16 year old. Biggest crush on Barry, I have to say that the music went straight to my heart ♥️ it’s stayed there safe through all the past decades. Your voice so sweet and powerful when it needed to be and watching you play the piano is a real treat for me as you are classically trained and some people don't ever realize it. My very first concert was seeing Barry at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, CA. I was either a sophomore or junior in high school, probably 1976 or 77. I'll never forget how great it was! What a career he has had to this day. Thanks for all your amazing music, Barry. I love it as much now as then ❤❤❤

Those 2 songs together never get old, especially when he couples them together with a Chopin-prelude, which I heard him do in one concert, in 1976 at the Springfield Civic Center, in Springfield, Ma. I also heard it on his first double album, which was his 5th album. I had a copy of it on a double length cassette recording. I wore it out, I think.

Mandy was released the year I was born. It instantly takes me back to a time when I must have only been a toddler. No actual memory but just a built in emotion in the center of my chest. I still get chills every time I hear his voice and this song.

(love how he smiles at the audience's response) Usually people wait until the song ends before they applaud . . . but here, all he has to do is play the first few notes and the audience breaks into cheers. That's how you know you have a damn good song. Yes, Barry . . . the people love "Mandy" beyond description . . . even to this day.
